  1. @SaveByRichter35 thanks for the post and the pictures. I decided not to mess with mojo (as i've almost been playing decent) and stay untucked... but still added a nylon loop to the back of my pants. I'll add the strap to my c/a and give it a whirl in a Tuesday night skate just to see how it feels. Not sure if untucked with a back strap really work well together or not. I'll post some pics too of how strange the buckle even breaking in the first place was. Makes me think I should start facing the puck and not let it hit my back as often (that's the only way I can think of this particular buckle breaking.)

Also... applause for Amazon Same Day.. ordered the new buckles and had them in time to slap on before I went out the door Thursday.

How Do I Wear it?:  Gone back and forth between loose or tight, tucked or untucked over the years, but right now pants are worn snug at the waist with suspenders under an untucked C/A.

Any Issues?:  Pants occasionally interfere with my pads (even with the outer knee wrap removed.) Also the untucked C/A can leave my upper ribs exposed on just the right shot from a cross ice pass.

So I know I'm quoting myself here... but looking for some advice. Tuesday evening my C/A felt sorta loose (even for being untucked) and upon closer inspection, the bottom clip on my back had broken. It did get me thinking though, maybe this is an opportunity to go back to tucking? I have new clips being delivered today (amazon prime same day... slow clap) and can adjust my suspenders to accommodate the tuck in time for this evening's tilt. I'll tie the front of the chest to my pants through the stock loop, but I was considering throwing on a Passau style pant strap. If I do that though, do I even need suspenders? Thoughts???

Well maybe Maltese needs to make a full shirt! :)

Makes sense as they have the varying thicknesses and new weight reduction with sheets that are cut into squares and perforated. Could be very interesting if they ever decide to go down that path, although the lead time would likely be measured in months. Personally I'm leaning towards picking up a Verbero at the moment.

In additional to the heart guard, I'd like to suggest the following:

    - Slightly taller neck & impact protection. Most of these units don't effectively cover my adam's apple and an extra 1/2" of height would go a long way. Also, most neck guards are not technically designed for puck impact and I think that's silly. The foam technology exists and should be utilized.

    - I also would welcome anything to improve ventilation and would like to see more mesh panels . See the green oval below

    - Last request would be textured rubber beads to the arms. My UA shirt uses this and I love it. Makes a difference with my C&A arms staying snug. See green square below

@TheGoalNet I love the additional specs... I wouldn't want to pay for the resulting shirt more than likely... but definitely good additions to the specs.

@Jukka Ropponen if this could be made at a moderate price (or lets say $100 or less) I'll be your first customer.

What is the substance on the tip of the straps? Is it melted elastic? Please share pics of your sons helmet

@TheGoalNet I checked with some friends who pretty much live on the dark web (and in their parent's basements) and the word on the street is that the substance on the tip of the straps is unicorn semen. I like that it doesn't fray, but I'll pass.

  6. @Jukka Ropponen That is exactly the right question!! My main areas of concern for protection are the following...

    • Clavicle
    • Sternum
    • Side (Ribs)

It seems like many on the market either answer 2 of those only, or try to do all 3 and do it poorly. The Verbero (Dan Farrell) looks pretty stout, but would like yo see a 2-3 columns of blocks extend down the sternum further. Shock Doctor, CCM, and even Bauer seem to have padding in name only. Are they all more padded than no padding at all, yes, but their ability to actually dissipate an impact is lacking. I certainly don't want it to feel like a second C/A... but more thought into the padding material itself, where it's placed, and how.

  7. I love it!! The detail on the throw back Brian's logo is a nice touch as are the faux shin straps. With all of the manufacturers focusing on weight reduction lately, sets like this with sewn details will become more and more rare. I'm all for technology, but there has to be a place for craftsmanship like this too.

For me, at this point of playing beer league I've given up matching sets to a certain team etc. Brown, Bucky, Retro Tan, they all go with nothing and therefore go with everything.

No Mike Richter no care.  Just playing, that's a beautiful mask.  Who painted it?

Ha. Airheadz Customs painted a while back... guy by the name of Jay Ferguson. I just sent him a few books I had with some pictures tagged. Told him a grey scale and whatever he wanted to do from there. Sits on a bookshelf now as the chin started to delaminate. Nice to look at though.

  10. I was poking around and hadn't seen much on Padded Shirts. I'm currently wearing a Shock Doctor 573. It's been fine, had a shot or two get me in the clavicle, but the argument could easily be made that if I was in a better position I wouldn't have been exposed. Anyway, while I know I could run out and get a good Maltese Reiter Spec Combo for a couple hundred $, I've also thought maybe it's time for a new shirt. CCM has a pretty robust one out there, as does Verbero. Wondering what everyone is wearing and your thoughts as I look to buy a new one...
