Sounds like you have a full plate without competitive hockey @southpawtendy48 - take care of yourself and yours during your off year.

... and that "advice" goes for everyone here on the boards. If we aren't looking out for one another - who is eh?

Thank you, and the same goes to you!

I occasionally sub in for adult league teams so that is filling that competitive gap in the meantime, haha

  2. Taking the season off from college hockey... the break from school and competitive play altogether has been great for me especially mentally. Got a PRP injection in my hip a few months ago to help the hip and slight labrum degeneration... also starting to work with some guys overseas and they seem to care a lot about helping goalies so I'm relieved. Been subbing in for adult league games as well when I get the call :) and spending time with family and friends as well during this time has taken a lot of stress away so I'm happier. I'm hoping to be back to 100% come next season and maybe more... but for now it's time for recovery, physically and mentally.

Safe to say though, freshman year of college wasn't a great experience, and I don't plan on playing or going there again.. I can relate also with the whole dad thing... my dad is in his 60s and I almost lost him a few months ago while losing one of my uncles as well earlier in the year while I was back east. Not to get into specifics but a lot of other things have gone on that I can't even begin to start on this year, but of course my love for the sport hasn't changed luckily. With that, I wish the rest of you the best in what's left of this year.

Lindgren? Francouz? Thompson? Hiller back in the day?

You’re supposed to be the other guy here supporting our system😂😂

I don’t mean all time obviously, I mean currently. Francouz isn’t bad but not exciting style wise, and I lowkey forgot about lindgren lol

Why don’t you relax your arms when you stand up? 😂 it makes you look like t-rex goalie 🦖

it does look like that lol. I do that mostly when the puck is farther out so I can get a better view on it… most players tower over me anyways 😂 I’m also messing around with new stances, glove positioning etc.

  5. It’s recommended for sure… the only problem I had was with byonic. You have to be careful about when it’s time to stop using a set. I took a shot off the blade after around a year of using them and didn’t notice one had snapped in 3 places until I got off the ice lol.

I wouldn’t say you have to have a spare but you have to buy a new set once and a while. I currently use bladetech and they’re the best I’ve used. But they cost a bit of money so I only have one pair of them as of now lol

I grew to dislike Trav quite quickly. Not that I ever want to see a dude not do well. But I understand how coaches and the like interact with him, His responses were then looney in that somehow they were against him. Sorry bro...

Yeah I’m not sure if I’d like the way he publicizes his career on youtube and such if I were a coach either, and he doesn’t exactly have the best attitude about it either

@southpawtendy48 bummer - that sucks. Every time I've gone through the trouble of doing a mold I've always done at least two juuust in case: lost, broken, not suitable for the mask maker, etc. And for what its worth - I'd much rather a mold get lost on the front end than a completed mask on the back end. Hope it all works out. What'd you go with on your future PC? Or TBD?

Thanks. Yeah it's happened to us the past month or so with fedex. I'm going to do the mold on monday.

What I got is just plain white with a silver tri cat cage. I'm taking the upcoming season off b/c of hip issues and such, but don't want to risk my head getting hurt in my off year lol.

I talked with the guy and I believe I'm going with the style shell that Price used, at least that's what he recommended so I went with that.

I can’t believe I found these things brand new since they are like 8 years old but I’m super excited to use them. One is an actual totalone NXG and the other is a totalone.9 le so just below the top. Can’t wait to see how they stack up against my hyperlites tonight!!!

I was thinking of buying one of those too... and was wondering where they went lol. Hope you like them 😂

  9. Slightly off topic, but everyone saw the two flops Igor took right? He’s too good of a goalie to be pulling shit like that. And he got away with both…

Slightly off topic; I love how the NHL is seemingly trying to protect their goalies more but either mess up a goalie interference call or don’t call an obvious flop. It’s infuriating

    Thanks buddy.

Best decision I made on this set, by far.  In retrospect if I could order them stiffer than Extra Stiff, I would. I do not have a wide butterfly flare by any means.  So my pads closing in the middle is pretty rare.  It does happen, but not all the time.  I make a lot of knee pad save, haha (thank you Warrior Pro +).  So stiffer pads don't mesh well with my body in terms of 5 hole closure. But, what stiff pads has done for me is make my mobility down on my knees way, way better and my technique in things like RVH or pushes left or right from a symmetrical butterfly way, way better.  Adding more mobility and more technique efficiency had far outweighed whatever benefit 5 hole closure might add. We also have sticks and knees to make 5 hole saves, so those are things I actively think about and incorporate into my game.

My hips just don't flare wide.  5 hole closure is not something I can rely on regularly, even though it does happen in some situations.  So that said, the other advantages of stiffer, firmer pads have added way more to my game and my confidence than I would be able to have with softer, squishyer pads, even though those pads might close in the middle easier.

I think my ideal pad at this point is super stiff with an inherent, dramatic S curve as its default.  That would be my dream pad now.

This was really helpful to know. I do wonder about going stiff with a soft boot. Might just go regular boot. I have never not played in a soft pad so it’ll be a shot in the dark…

and definitely don’t go pro palm if you don’t have an extra glove. It can mostly close now but in hindsight I should’ve taped it shut after every skate and amped up the keeps method. Couldn’t leave it in the car for a day before it went stiff again. So annoying
