  1. Great post as always. I can’t add a reaction to it though because I’ve liked too many posts today lol.

I’m curious about the super stuff option. My pads do curl in the slightest bit and I’ve also gotten more flexible so I might bump up to regular stiff on the upper core on my next set. I’m pretty sure we’ve had our sets for a similar amount of time and your pads are way straighter than mine are currently haha.

I came home from work yesterday and was thinking about this. How do you tell someone you're sad that 'someone you knew online' had passed away? The phrase is exactly correct, but it comes off to others differently.

There have been several people from GSBB and here that have passed away that I was sad about. Junior Cats (Mike) was one of them.

That’s very true. Funnily though, I met my eventual best friends through social media and have luckily met most of them in person. they’re the best people I could have as friends.

My dad is aware of my involvement on this forum and when I told him I found out about this he was very sympathetic about it. I’m glad to have someone as understanding as him because he knows you can make a strong connection with people even if it’s just on the internet. Even if I didn’t know bunny that well at all, I’m heartbroken because of the others he clearly had an impact on.

No matter where the relationship may end up, it’s still good to try and be kind to others, even strangers. It could make their day. Obviously, it’s still a good idea to be careful with who you interact with.. but you never know.

  3. Wow. didn’t know the full extent of his health issues but even with that he was still positive and loved playing goal as much as anyone else here. He put a lot of effort into his mods and I can’t say putting custom padding to protect your ostomy bag so he could play goal anyways is something you see everyday lol. I wish I could say more to give him more justice but I think we could take some advice from him by trying to stay happy and enjoy the sport we all love even when facing awful stuff like that. I can’t imagine what he went through in those last few months but he was one tough dude.

It’s weird to think that we kind of brush off the people we interact with on the internet cause we don’t really know them, and all of a sudden they’re gone. Of course there’s gonna be some douchebags out there but you never know what someone could be going through even if they’re positive.

Rear easy Doug, I didn’t know you well but you will be missed. God rest your soul

  4. Agreed with what Coop said, although I’ve only ever just tried on the new gloves, and on the left hand at that because nobody carries anything in stores full right anyways 😂 but I’ve always stuck with the lt98 and haven’t went custom with the later generations. I know Matt Murray used an lt98 internal on his SLR at some point so it could be the internals with that unique feel you like.

I'd reach out to the manufacturer. May be a manufacturing defect. I'd suspect that the heating (sharpening)/cooling (ice) cycle caused that to happen. Add in an impurity in the steel and the fracture was imminent.

Your blade looks like it fractured twice. That's not right.

You have a good point. It’s really strange though because they held up really well for a year or so. I’ll reach out to them soon

I had it done to my T5500, it was a custom request.  Look how much better that looks.  For the life of me I do not know why they continue to do that.  I get it in the olden days when goalies had their gloves down by their knees.  But no one does that anymore.  Evolve already.

Not sure why they even bother doing it anymore. It doesn’t look good. Should’ve asked for it on my last custom one but I’m considering getting a game ready glove because this shit can’t fully close after having it for almost a year, so will definitely ask for that when I order it.

  7. So for the first time in 6 years ish of me playing… my blade snapped, pretty sure I played with it for 20 or so minutes too. There’s still a missing piece of it that was on the ice or something. Thankfully I have an extra set… and just bought some stainless tydans. I think the grooves put in the top is what partially led to it breaking.

My worst was 2006 in my first year of juniors someone skated over the back of my leg after I got knocked down to the ice, completely sliced my left hamstring to the bone.  Was able to get back on the ice after about 6 months but the muscle has still never fully recovered.

More recently, few years ago I tore my left groin then a pretty bad sprain again a year later, I've since started taking my pre-game warm-ups way more seriously, stationary bike, stretching, foam-roller, etc... as well as some of Maria Mountain's off-ice groin strengthening workouts and knock on wood have been injury free for a while.

Holy shit. Glad you’re alright right now though. Hamstring incident seems like a freak accident but nonetheless scary, I’ve been taking care of my body more with stretching and such but this post should remind us all to do everything we can to prevent injury… it makes a hell of a difference

We won our championship last night, beating the first place team in our division 5-3 after beating them 2 rounds ago 4-2. They wooped our asses all season long so it was awesome to get these wins in the playoffs.

@SaveByRichter35 this entrance is for you, buddy.

We got a sweet trophy plaque with a Kraken puck in it and a legit beer mug...and there is a bar upstairs, how convenient.  Epic night of drinking and good times celebrating our 2nd season as a team.

Who is going to be the next big player in the custom neck guards market? Sara is great, but I'm not sure if she is able to scale her product to the level of an EcoPro or a Maltese.

Roughneck is super similar to eco and maltese. Can’t go wrong with them.

Agreed. The neck guard is there mostly to protect against skate cuts. The neck guard has some protective value, but ultimately it's the dangler that stops shots from reaching the neck in the first place.

I've watched Trav, and he explains why he doesn't wear a neck guard. He overheated when he wore one, so he wears the dangler instead. So it is possible to wear one or the other, but both is the safest solution.

I personally ditched the dangler a few years ago because it was so loud and obstructed my downwards view. I know there are ways to make it quieter but I haven’t really gone back. On my roughneck I ordered a 2 inch height on the throat area and it hasn’t been giving me any issues. One time when I had just a dangler I got hit in the high sternum and said that was enough lol

I also don’t really overheat as much as I sweat, and I don’t really take advice from trav in the first place 😂 but it’s a valid reason.

Wear a dangler, man! He's asking to get hit in the throat right there. I don't want him to be the next Malcolm Subban.

Anyhow, his team-themed pads are cool.

Or a neck guard at least. Him and Lehner need to take notes… just asking for a throat shot 😬

Nothing worse than a short goalie, playing standup and running his mouth.

Hold on - can be worse. If he's a wrong handed goober too. Catch with your left hand like a man!

I write and bat left. Kick and throw right, catch left.

But the most important thing is I can cut steak with my left hand and eat it with my right 😎

    Fluidly.

I can’t cut with my left if I tried lol, I also kicked mostly right when I played soccer  but batted left when I played baseball

before I played goal, it was natural for me to shoot lefty but concluded that catching left was a no go, now I can’t see myself shooting left anymore

    yes

I’ve only skated in it a few times. Protection overall great and mobility is too, upper bicep protection still a little lacking as per with the velocity line

By no means have I been myself this season, but the fact that most of our team are freshman and the fact I’ve been dealing with tons of mental warfare does not help. My thought process is that you don’t win your team games, you give them a chance to win. However you should always have a high standard for yourself. I would elaborate more but who knows who will read this lol

    Update: no nationals. Welp. :(

To stay on topic, here’s Rittich’s SS mask. I lowkey like it
