Now a Bauer guy.
Ultrasonic leg pads and Mach gloves.
Mach pads were alright, but the single break was very clunky and I have my doubts of the longevity of the jenpro attachment points for the tune fit system.
With that being the only way to home the pad to your legs, it feels like playing with fire.
Plus my 3S slid better.
Hope they play well for you, but for style points, I’m giving you a solid “meh” out of ten. You can do better - and usually have in the past.
Of course it’s petty common when guys get married and have a kid to just give up where looks and fashion are concerned…

Really sorry to read this buddy . So are you actually saying that while you’re looking forward/toward blueline presumably, someone on YOUR team decided to shoot at you from the side/corner, when you weren’t facing them or making eye contact…?

Another vote for the UA heat gear.

You think YOU’VE had an MCL injury?
Poor Forsberg this weekend in Ottawa; guy is in agony. Hard to watch.
Interesting how they removed his pads, but used one to keep his legs propped up and bent.Word is extensive rehab (but no surgery)

I found most of the gear to look incredibly boring, aside from Shesty’s Brian’s setup. Hellebuyck’s was the worst- all white with a tiny sliver of baby blue and pink on the outer roll-ooo how exciting.
Sarros and Skinner were in their regular CCM setups, so I’m assuming CCM couldn’t even be bothered to give their pros some sweet gear for the ASG.
FFS… can’t believe I forgot this set (def my fav form the weekend). Love Shesterkin, love Brian’s… total fail on my part
I’m probably going to get kicked out of the Brian’s fan club for this

So as you can see earlier in this thread, I had a stated intention to buy one of these. But I had the regular/older Aegis interceptor and, well… I didn’t end up buying it.
For reference, I don’t wear a dangler.
Last Friday in a pickup game, a guy caught me with a riser. Luckily I turned a bit, and it caught me in the neck more than in the throat - but still tagged me just above the neck guard/below my mask.Neck pain and headache for a few days. Better now, but a friend (skater) got hit in the throat that same week by a deflection, and couldn’t swallow… trip to the hospital for him. (He’s also better now).
I think I was really lucky. The Pro arrived yesterday. Figured I’d rather pay the $150 CAN and never get hit again than to chance it.
Played a pickup game with it today, felt good - but as I’m still a bit gun-shy, I think I would have liked it to be slightly HIGHER, believe it or not! Loved my other Aegis, and bought player versions for the kids; these products are great.
For those interested, I took a few comparison pics of the D30 in the older model vs. the Pro. If you’re like I was with the older one, this upgrade is well worth it, IMHO.

Well, it didn't take long. 3rd game, Montembeault was in. He played well but the team just couldn't hold it together. Lets see what happens next.
Character come-back win against the Pens, THAT’S what happens next!

Coach always said to jump on pucks
Love so much about this: the way it’s framed, the contrasting colours, the complete aloof indifference of your partner, the steely-eyed focus before you flop. It’s hilarious- well done, sir!

Fall is here and the time to get back is approaching. Personally, I plan to return to a pretty good skate next month. Covid and some parental health issues threw a monkey wrench into skating regularly the past few years. I turn 60 this January so hopefully I can get one more run of skates before my body craps out for good. I am done with teams and games; just cant do the late night games on a Tuesday night, for example, anymore and cannot take on the responsibility of committing to a team as its goaler.
Interested to know what you all have on the books for the upcoming hockey season and I hope it goes well for you
Great thread topic! and I know about parental health issues; my dad is only 64, but has been effectively debilitated with diabetes and strokes. Not easy.
I hope you get to enjoy however many skates you get in!- 2

Well in the past year I've gotten married, changed jobs, bought a new place, became a landlord, and had my first kid, and won a championship.
I'm honestly not too sure what else I can do for the next 12 months to beat that?Ooh! Ye’ve a wee bairn ben the hoose now! Congrats on becoming a Father, Coop. It’s a helluva ride - but I never for a second regretted becoming a parent.

I just hope to keep playing this season. I've been in another rut where I just don't care to play. Would rather be home with the wife and kids. My team is going to play in Lake Placid in December. I have always wanted to do that. I can't make it and it doesn't even bother me.
I hope that you end up happy with whatever choice(s) you make, bruh. I know the pull of family; it’s real. But then mine are always fucking off for their activities, so I might as well too! Lol!

I’ve been busy - started playing in the pick up games with work people, took my kid to Rep team try outs 5 days in a row, where he was one of the last cuts. Transition to running the house league sort outs, get hammered by the COVID I probably contracted during tryouts week, recover, finish the sort outs, become head coach again, organize the parent meeting, help the goalie’s Dad on the team with new chestie info, and now I’m here.
We lost ourselves a goalie, my friends, as my 9 year old daughter decided she didn’t want to play hockey this year. I still have her sweet, tiny Brian’s gear, just in case.Men’s league starts first week of October, and we actually got a guy in his 30s, making me the 2nd youngest at 43, and bringing the team’s average age down to about 55.
Hope to be on here more often now that it’s all hockey all the time. Now off to get a beer, and fire up the BBQ.

Was looking through old hockey cards that I got from my uncles years ago. A few interesting things here - like early adopters of the Dave Dryden/Greg Harrison combo, coloured gear, and Wally and Wilson sticks (which I’d never seen before). Also saw that when the Whalers rocked the Cooperalls, goalies were apparently (read: mercifully) exempt.
Anyway, enjoy!

Guess I’ll throw this in here…
I’ve ended up with my Dad’s old gloves, which are in very good condition. He’ll never use them again, as the stroke he had - along with the diabetes - has fucked him up pretty good.
I have always hated these gloves, and everything about them. Even back in the day, I thought they looked like shit, and they feel terrible (the actually hurt my fingers!)
…and yet, as I’m cleaning up in the furnace room/family hockey gear HQ, I can’t get rid of them - even though I don’t know what I’m keeping them for.
