Since I wasn’t sure if Bauer was going to do anything with my one100 cowling issue I picked these up on sideline swap the other week. Never used Rask returns. They are super comfy but they are built like tanks so I may still put the new cowlings on the Bauer’s and roll with those. Though maybe on the ice the weight won’t be nearly as noticeable.

Now that I have Mrazek straps the quick release isn't as important as it once was since I don't have to thread them under the floaters. It's more the shock cord as I like how they feel over the traditional elastic and it seems like it doesn't lose it's elasticity as quickly. I had tried out the monster ones from another goalie I play with and really liked them but when I ordered my own they never came so I've just been patiently waiting for someone else to come along with a similar design.

It'd be nice if a company that actually delivered products paid for started making suspenders like this. I'm going through the cheapo ones that are available in stores alarmingly fast.

I don’t usually get too bothered by cloning graphics if it’s something that’s no longer in production but to straight rip off something that’s still current is a bit much.

I like the Vaughn mainly because they haven't really changed it for 3 models now and I know I'm comfortable with it on the ice. After trying 2 other units to replace my V7 and not being able to feel comfortable in either one of them on the ice I just went with what I knew. But man the way the Shield 2 felt without even adjusting anything was pretty amazing.

Anybody have any experience with chest protector sizing between the Vaughn V7 and the Bauer vapor 1x. I am currently in a large Vaughn and it fits well enough other than the arms being a tad long. According to the hockey shop sizing chart the Xl Bauer has shorter arms then the large Vaughn and is only half an inch longer in the chest. I don’t have anywhere nearby to try on a 1x so the hockey shop sizing chart is the best thing I’ve seen as far as comparisons go.

Was just taking some pictures of my gear to have on file for insurance purposes and I figured since everyone loves to look at pictures of gear I would start a what's in the bag post. I know I'm always interested to know what everyone is using for gear and if they have any particular mods. Also a good way to connect with folks that have the same gear or are looking to get something you have so they can ask any questions or get thoughts on it. Current setup is pretty boring but once Bauer allows for custom orders to have non white based design I plan on ordering a set of Vapors. Leg Pads: Bauer Vapor 1X in size medium. All white. Use the small strapping for a tight fit along with the boot strap. Really enjoying these and glad I went with mediums as I've felt a lot more mobile coming from CCMs that were 34+2. Only play once or twice a week these days but these seem to be holding up pretty well. Glove and Blocker: Bauer Vapor 1X. All White. These are a bit newer than the pads as they were purchased new and the pads were slightly used when I got them. To me they feel pretty much just like my previous CCM gloves with the 590 break which is what I've been using forever and is really the only thing I feel truly comfortable in. The pop off the blocker is also great. Chesty: Vaughn V7 pro carbon. Size large. No modifications. Was thinking about adding a fight strap as I don't like suspenders but I got this unit used and it smelled terrible and I'm not sure how much longer until I'm going to replace it. Pants: Warrior Messiah. Black size large. Had to open up the legs and take about 2 inches off of these as they were really long otherwise very good protection. Skate lace to tie chesty down. Thinking about getting a pair that has a more tapered opening as I wear my chest protector untucked. Skates and Helmet: Bauer one100, Fusion. Mask has a chin sling. Skates are stock. Sticks: Bauer 9000 foam core. 25" P31 pattern. Pretty much buying up as many of these as I can get now that they are dirt cheap. Just can't get used to compost sticks. Others: Bauer throat guard. Vapor 1X knee guards. Warrior cup. Favorite knee guards I've used to date. Very comfortable and protective. Use the supplied garter to keep them up and then put Reebok socks over them and don't have an issue with them shifting at all. Warrior cup has great protection but is very bulky.

1S is a lot closer to the CCM 600 break than the 590. I knew I didn't like the 600 but I figured I would try the 1S but it felt exactly the same to me. I don't know what the exact degree breaks are on the two gloves but I'd say 1S is 70-75 and the 1X is 60 since it feels exactly like every Reebok/CCM 590 I've owned.

I went from using the old black/yellow supreme knee pads to the 1X ones and it was a day and night difference. The 1X ones fit inside the knee cradle way better and have been the most comfortable knee pads I have worn to date. As far as protection goes I haven't actually taken one of the knee since I started wearing them but being is they have the Curve composite on the knee I would have to believe I'll be protected. Let me know how going down to the calf wrap goes for you as I tried it for about 15 mins on ice and was getting some really weird rotation both going down and getting back up but as soon as I put it across the back of my knee all was fine. And that's coming from wearing CCM/Reebok with the knee elastic down to the calf for about the past 4 years prior.

Just an update to my order with Monster. After a month and a half of not getting 2 of their more basic offerings PayPal refunded me my money. They gave them almost 2 weeks to respond to the dispute and when I inquired they said they got no response at all so they sided with me. Not sure what the deal is as I received about 10 emails from their marketing about new sales they were having but they couldn't manage to get me a pair of HAL straps and suspenders.

Wish I would've found this thread earlier. I ordered a pair of toe straps and shoulder harness exactly a month ago and still haven't seen them. The only communication I have received is when I asked for some tracking a week after my order and they said I should see my order in 2 weeks. I paid with Paypal so I have opened up a dispute so we will see if they respond or if Paypal just refunds my money. I don't really have an issue with the waiting but the lack of communication is pathetic.

Hey guys. First post here. Recently started playing again after about a 2 year layoff and figured I would jump back on the Bauer bandwagon after years of using CCM/Reebok. Haven't had them out on the ice yet but excited by how light they are. Got some new to me 1X leg pads that seemed to conveniently leave out some wear spots in the pictures but still have a good amount of life left in them and a new set of 1s glove and blocker.
