Going to be a doing a comparison of my new Lefevre 20.1 vs my Opt1k

Feel free to ask questions and I will answer as I can.

I have used Reebok P4 (33 +1) and Sub-zero 6.0 (33+1)

Lots of pictures

Pad sit about the same height Lefevre has slightly smaller Thigh rise.

Lefevre L20.1  32+1.5 Single outer and internal break heal strap and Fast glide on inner edge

initial impression Love the FSR straps as they seem to blend a professor strap with how I strap my leg with the pads.  May have been able to go with 31 +2 on the pads. fits good but on the lower side of the knee cradle compared to my dead centre on the Opt1k.  Will update once I have gotten the pads on the Ice.

Brians Opt1k 33 +1 Flx soft boot 90 degree boot + added professor strap to X strap

Loved the pads sliding and durability with the Primo straps always found the thigh rise way to soft so welcome change to have stiffer pad and straighter profile.

Had great Rebounds and great seal. did miss an outer role as I found I may have been beat off it more then I would have liked.

Similarities

Boot flex so far seem the same off ice between the two

Glove

L20.1 580 Break leather single tea wrist strap game + protection and Leather Wrist strap.

like the glove. But make sure to take some getting use to closure. Gloves is better out of the box

for fitting my hand.

Opt1k stock glove  double tea and pro palm with BOA dials

loved but always felt is was slightly to big in the finger stalls

L20.1 Stock L 20.1 with straight finger protection, open cuff

feel great like the open cuff over the old CCM/Lefevre desings

Opt1k Stock with BOA dial

Like but glove was to big for my hand. BOA dial kept getting knocked loose by my goalie sticks so I had to tape the dial closed with sock tape.

First on Ice Comparison L20.1 to Optik FLX

So having used  the L20.1 for about 6 ice times, I have a decent idea of how the play and how I  have adjusted the strapping.

So far pads feel great only had to move the toe strap from off set to centre. I just can not get use to the pad toe strap being off centre.

The sliding of the L20.1 works great when your weight is perfectly balanced. The L20.1 can slide good in all ice conditions but do not slide as well as Optic slide in the late game or rough ice.  The L20.1 do Slide maybe a bit to fast at the start of a game on fresh ice.

rebounds are good and play similar to the Brians Optic FLx core pads in feel and how far the play out. Pad are a bit straighter which I do enjoy and vary stiff compared to the FLX in the thigh. Boot feels a little harder but still vary stiff.

Glove of the L20.1  feel great  but will take some time to get use to the catching angle of the 580 but do need to get use to it a bit more for catching.(hard to play when all my ice times are right now cancelled)

Blocker is probably the stand out piece of gear for me, the way it centres on your hand is unreal and the defections have been great. the side wall deflections are way hotter then I excepted

Over all Pads and glove feel great like the switch to the L20.1. Will also how well they play on outdoor ice in a bit to once me and my dad finish the outdoor rink. As it may be the only ice fore couple months.

30 day Review or 10 Ice times Review

So not a true 30 day or 10 time ice review but figured I would update the pads review as I have been able to skate outdoors, even though all my hockey games seem likely done for the season.

So far biggest complaint was a mistake by me should have double checked sizing before ordering. I went with 32 +1.5 figuring that by dropping down a size from my normal pads Brians Sub zero and Opt1k 33+1 and Reebok P4 33+1 would make em fit perfect. I was wrong though they fit I am on the lower side of the Knee block and should have ordered a set of 31+2. still have not fallen off I land just slightly lower the the centre of the  knee block.

For on on ice feel they sill feel great and I really enjoy them just feels like the knee stack is a tad high.

Blocker is the one thing I have no plans to change in the set or would want to change. This really has blown out every other blocker I have used.

Glove like it better then my Opt1k but still got to work on catching a bit more.

Strapping feels great when they are loose.

rebounds are great on the pads they slide worse the the opt1ks on dirty ice but better on fresh ice with the fast glide inner edge.

Will probably put them up for sale and order the proper size for L20.1 pads or L12.2 in the future but for now they feel great.

waiting for your comparison on ice. As far as I understand, Lefebvre 20.1 is a further development of the Premier concept. until recently I owned P4 pads, now I own Opt1k. and the comparison on ice is far from favoring P4.

So far definitely an improvement on the opt1ks.

Fast slide is ridicules  fast on fresh ice.

Sucks that they cut out the warm up in the game. Got to love crappy refs.... but after the first period defiantly played more natural and easy to use.

Better closure on the five hole then the Opt1ks

Will need more ice times to know for sure but so far I like.

Also the glove is easily the best part. The 580 makes catching easier and swallow pucks whole.

Will post more more things once I get another ice time.

I understand that perspective on the L20.1.  I used/borrowed my brothers P4's for a while. would say that the L20.1 is refinement and a improvement on the P4/ccmP2's. Opt1k are amazing pad and were a improvement over the Sub zeroes as well. Both changed enough were they are different pad but still have elements of the lineage of what came before. If I still have both pairs when my dad sticks the ice in the backyard I am planning to strap one pad to each leg and see how they play for sliding and feel on the ice.

I think the biggest difference is the Op1k gave in options was the FLX core for softer thigh rise like older style pads with the big rebounds of a modern pad. I do not see you being able to do that with the L20.1

my Optik has a Fly core and is similar in flexibility above and below the knee stack to the P4 with a double internal break I had before

Yeah so remember that L20.1 is much stiffer pad then P4's. I would say it may be comparable to Bauer Vapor/Ultra sonic for stiffness. Boot is almost as soft as a opt1k soft boot.

what option did you get for the knee cradle? I like the look of that lower strap while still having it across the knee

I got the soft foam, which in hind sight I would have gone with a open knee cradle. as i run the strap down to lower area. If you want to look at options take a peak at ccm customizer as the knee option are the same Lefevre.

Great comparison and thanks for doing so.

Another instance where Lefevre's pads have a size difference vs. the competition is what deters me from ordering blindly.

Yeah i will say that if you follow there size spec that Lefevre has sorta of hidden on there site as that measurements seem to be dead on. I just figured I am normally a 33,  so a 32 should be enough when I ordered which it is I am still landing in the centre. But definitely would have been happier in a 31 +2. But still really like the pads.
