Unfortunately, I have never found a “happy weight”. When I was a hill climbing specialist racing in USCF racing, my body loved being 117-125lbs. Still losing despite enjoying my beer, though I have conceded to low carb beer. bunnyman666 Posted December 27, 2021 Author Share Posted December 27, 2021 Stayed under 170 despite Christmas. I haven’t weighed myself since Christmas morning. Only ate two meals yesterday as we got a late start. Eating a heavy meal even three hours before hockey is a disaster due to my lack of colon. It seems that I am stuck between 167-170. I have had an adult life-long battle with weight. Pretty well my career change was not beneficial for any part of my life LOL After all, my severe health problems began not long after I started the new job. August was a the catalyst, as I was starting a new chapter after having a near total breakdown. Exercise and better nutrition helped put everything back into place for me. And I will re-emphasise this: exercise helps make mental health meds work better. Working from home was a game changer. I, for one, was very happy with some of the changes as a result of the pandemic. I thrived with a remote workplace, once all the bugs were worked out. Taking 2-4 hours off of commute time was huge. I actually have established a great home/work balance. Rigorous exercise makes me forget work. So, yes- I am going to keep it up! This important base layer has been left out of my bag for over a year because I just couldn’t get my lardy bum into it! Now I can!!! My improved fitness couldn’t control flukey, bouncy pucks last night, but overall, I feel much better playing than I have in a very long time. I keep hovering in that 167-169# range, which means I need to further change diet and exercise. I was late waking this morning, but did my interval/plyometric treadmill workout in 30 minutes this morning. I had been focusing on longer aerobic workouts. Lunchtime workout will be 45 minutes on the bike today. Will I go recumbent or traditional? Decision is “game time”. The important thing here? Despite being in the absolute WORST time (calendar wise) for gaining pounds, I have remained steady with a bit of fluctuation. I am fine with it; my body is just telling me it’s time to change it up a bit. Does anyone have treadmill workouts they would like to share? How about anything else to get past my plateau? In my experience, however, those last few pounds can only be shed by using a new cardio exercise(s) and a new lifting exercise. The thing seems to be finding an exercise that snaps your metabolism of its current steady state. If you do a lot of biking, for example, stairs might be a way to jump start things. This week is when I redouble my efforts. Of course tonight is the night I get the Covid booster. Ugh. My last dose whacked me HARD. I am hoping this trend is bucked. I will be on Working Holiday for a few days next week, hoping upon hope that I don’t fall off the wagon. I will be her guest at the tennis club and there will be a workout facility at my disposal.
