  1. The thing that annoys me about Reddit is the crowd mentality that kills off any new challenging ideas. Anyone comment about not using a short paddle with a trigger grip, prolaces with super stiff thighsrises is going to get downvoted immediately.

What do you guys think is a better day trip if I rented a car in Montreal: Quebec City or Ottawa? Any other good options for la less than 3 hour drive?

Quebec City is nicer than Ottawa for sightseeing, but also since you are coming for when the leaves are turning, going up north to Mont Tremblant (closer to Montreal - https://www.tremblant.ca/mountain-village) or Algonquin/Chelsea (really close to Ottawa) for a hike would be nice too.

As a Montrealer that moved to Ottawa, I believe the correct term is Ottaweenies

  5. I'm curious on how it's attached as well.

You know one thing I noticed while looking at my kid's Chesty that's now too small, how I could cut up the parts and source it to beef up my own chesty (it sells for only about 50~80$ CAD). And looks wise, they are the same color and model so it would look stock haha.

Did you ever end up getting the SLR2 undershirt. I took a nasty shot of my shoulder yesterday for the second time in 5 months and I'm thinking I might want to try this one at least until i get my new chesty.

I didn't get to because the shop didn't have any my size and could not tell me with certainty when they could get more and then I forgot about it.

I'm looking at getting the new Aegis padded shirts though. Have you looked at that?

Yes, I have seen them on the market. I personally hate excess things on the base layers. Trying to find balance between hit there more than 1 time every 3 years and closing gaps in equipment.

Yeah I would find that bothersome and it's been one fluke occurrence in ever

No offense taken. I tend to heavily use, probably overuse, the undersquare in my game when it comes to shortside situations with an out-option for the opposition. That includes pretty much every position: stance, RVH, the occasional VH, but I find the pucks will hit me there in transition after the carrier chooses the pass option and the recipient gets the one-timer off while I'm coming to meet them and I eat the puck on the inside on my now-opposite thigh (ex: carrier1 starts with puck to my left, passes to my right, player gets shot off against the grain as I move left-to-right). I've found myself using this undersquare since I'm smaller (5'8") to up my chances of "oh, I got hit" saves and for the sake of saving my hips with a little less sharp rotations in game (since that's become sort of an RSI for me, going to take me out for a few months).

I bought my kid a Vaughn (V9?) one recently and saw that there was a small inner thigh padding.

I remember I have gotten hit there once on a scramble and it hurt like a B.

  9. From what I remember BladeTech is very different, and it's a very much a either you love it or hate it type of deal.

My kid uses non-DLC JRZ as a 2nd set and it seems to hold up well compared to his stock.

I got my spare blades lightly used from SLS for a great price, if you are patient, maybe you could find yours there. What size are you anyway? I have a couple of Size 9/280 that I might be selling.

  10. I'm not a fast skater on player skates, but I consider myself a very good skater in terms of agility and leaning on my edges. Having played out for most of my life helped tremendously when I transitioned to playing a goalie.

    Learn all you can.

  11. Has anyone heard of him in the past few or has a way of contacting him?

I know he's always busy but he's not answered my questions or sent final proof of design like he said he would on July 26th.

I'm actually supposed to meet with him today to drop off my mask because I am headed to Montreal, but he's been radio silent since July 26th and I'm not sure what to do.

But what is the opposing views on 580? He likes it or does not?

I'd rather we not get into it and get off topic. We've said what we wanted to say and now let's move back to the EF6.

  13. I take all reviews with a grain of salt, but lately I find myself putting less stock into what Hockeyreviews says because of how subjective and hyperbolic against whatever doesn't work for him and his game. Even on his CCM 581 Reddit post, when people give opposing opinions, he seems to get pretty defensive and talk about his sources which I mean could be anything.

  14. Ok so I wrote to him and he responded

    Hi John,

The decision to shut down Coveted was simply due to my business partner and myself parting ways.

He is leaving the goalie mask industry and I will stay with an all-new company, new shop and some new mask designs.

Yes, I will still have all the same parts available and will honour any Coveted Mask warranty and service issues.

www.apexgoalie.com is in the works and coming soon.
