  1. What I did with my son who said it was too slippery was to apply the film in only a 1/2 of where he would land. I think I did it closer to the outer edge, but hindsight I should have done it closer to the inner edge as it would have taken the abuse better, and it's where your weight would be when trying to power push.

Kind of like how curling shoes work in tandem.

Maybe it's just us beer leaguers/amateurs that are more in tune with gear changes/specs.

It's because we blame our tools, not our skills.

Although Jake Allen seems to be really really in tune with how his gear looks and works from the interviews that he's given.

50$ for a product I'll take partially apart, nah. I did reach out to him last year asking if he would just sell me the pieces I need and he refused.

They actually won't be useful for what I wish to do with them, BUT, if you were still going to throw them out, I can take them as patterns and try to get some made locally. I'll buy you a beer for them. You still in Ottawa?

Yep, send me a message, I think you’re on my FB?

  4. Crazy, but I am close to your location and may have what you need.

My kid is intermediate in sizing so I had to extend his junior sized pro lace to make it longer for him, as Senior Prolaces were too loose for him.

There is a slit however towards each hole but it might still be of use to you?

Still cool though.  Maybe he has a personal connection.

Oh yeah, it's a great brewery right near the Richcraft Sensplex, I remember seeing all the beer posts from before by @Lucky Pucker and I had extra room so I figured it would be a nice surprise 😃

Also interesting that apart from Detroit, the original six teams are 2-6 and at least double the price of Detroit tickets.

I think recent economic state and the population has to do with that. I had to look and the population of Detroit has been declining since the 90s from 1M to 630K.

Cinch the internal belt nice and tight, use the front lace to tie the C/A semi tight to the pants and that's about it. No suspenders or further straps.

I do the same with Hyperlite chest and Bauer Pro pants.

  8. Oh yeah so this is the front of the unit. I was feeling some shots in my Vaughn VE8, and I mulled over wearing a padded base layer or even modding the chest. But ended up buying this instead. As it can be seen in the previous pic it has the KW initials, colorway indicates maybe the Habs (the blue doesn't really show in the pic)? I dunno, most of what I care is how it functions.

Immediately the first thing I noticed was that it runs hotter than what I remember how my old Passau made me feel. And of course less mobile than the Vaughn. First time on the ice I was glad I had it because of all the chest saves, I really like how I could feel that there’s contact so that I know I made the save, but no pain (except for one belly shot, I don’t know how it hurt me).

If there are any questions please let me know. In the meanwhile I’m going to see what flavour of chicken wings are available to place in the tracker pocket.

Good to know! To be honest, I'm still confused what the difference even is. The Vvivid stuff has 3M logos on the backing, so is Vvivid just a Canadian distributor of the stuff or something? 🤷‍♂️

Actually you know what? I'm confused myself. I looked back at my orders, and they were both Vvivid 3M. So probably just the way that I applied, or maybe the material? If I remember correctly, it did not work on my Brian's pads, but it worked super well on my kid's CCM pads (to the point where I had to be careful taking his off at the end of the season). Trying to think of the main differences, both were cleaned beforehand, but I used rubbing alcohol to clean my kid's pads, I used a heat gun only on mine, I also left mine 24 hours before playing, but on his I left it for a couple of days longer.

This is the one I used. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LYZJNWX

  10. I didn't want to go into the details, but I don't know what else to do.

What happened was that he had scheduled my wrap, confirmed to be done on August 21st (he said he needed ~3 hours to complete), and so I scheduled a trip down and modified my stay, but he ended up being away out of the province for another week somehow. He said he would send back my deposit with a huge apology which I accepted, but he hasn't actually sent anything and I can't get a hold of him anymore.

I've tried Instagram message and WhatsApp.

  11. I’m finding it hard to coach two kids with very different abilities at the same time, with limited time and limited ice space.

This year my kid’s team has two goalies and their skill discrepancies are hard to overcome for any drill that’s not just skating. It’s been a very challenging start to the year.

  12. I find this convo to be pretty funny, as it reminds me of an exact argument I had as a mechanic.

I used to work for a shop that rebuilt 60s-70s muscle cars, and one customer came in one day huffing and puffing that he had just gotten in a minor car accident the other day in his daily modern car which is now totalled and complaining on how these Japanese cars are all plastic and any little bump crumples them like a cheap lawn chair. “They don’t make ‘em like they used to!” Was a common phrase we heard from our customers.

Well yeah, in the old cars the crumple zone was your legs, new cars which have proper give are able to dissipate the energy properly saving the occupants inside.

I asked him if he had any injuries from the crash, and he said no, but I think the question went over his head.

I’m coaching U13. Again. I’m getting punched in the face with funk every ice time - for “free” - so imma go Hard Pass on your bottled offerings.

    But hey - GLWS

I'm thinking of moving 5 streets over so that my kid can be in your district. We could coach together. We could be the next MSLs.
