  1. From what I was told it’s better to order up than down. Not so much with with stiffer pads these days but softer pads tend to settle a little more so I personally would rather have a pad that starts out a hair to big then settles a little bit then have a pad smaller then settle and be too small. My Simmons started out at 34 but once the boot broke in they settled a little bit and I noticed my thigh rise didn’t come out as much and I was landing a little higher. I would want to go up within reason to give me some more 5 hole coverage if they were stock pads.
  2. Passau actually posted yesterday where to measure to find your pivot point and that is where you want to measure to according to warrior and CCM. Using their chart I found out I was closer to 20 than 19.5

Kirk, thank you for the clarification! Would you say that the average beer league goalie who’s on the ice 1/2 times a week would be just fine with the stock stiffness or would it be better in the long run to get extra stiff the ensure the pad doesn’t break down and get softer?

Anyone try out the X-stiff option on the G5’s. I know puckstopper did a small review on them and said it was pretty stiff over stock. Looking at the customizer there are two options medium and X-stiff, I take it medium is their stock stiffness? I just don’t know why you would need a super stiff thigh rise, I would think the whole pad would be stiff. I’ve read mixed reviews from G# are really stiff too they aren’t stiff at all (when compared to stiff pads). I was under the impression hypercomb ran over the entire face of the pad is X-stiff just extra foams or more hypercomb? I’m trying to avoid super straight rigid pads but I also want to slow the breakdown of the pads since I plan to use them for some time. right now my double break Simmons thigh rises are pretty soft, even over time with stock stiffness will the warriors always be more rigid in the thigh rise?

Just measured my +2 and was a full inch/ inch and a half shorter than your warriors and ccm’s. so In theory a stock thigh rise will 9” and the +2 will be .5 more if both measurements are taken at the knee stack.
  6. Hey guys/gals Is anyone using shells out there and if so what size are you going with. wearing large Simmons

Damn, ok thank you for the heads up I’ll have to find the sizing chart. You know where I could find it or what is called so I can plug it into the google machine?

So you’re saying that if you take a 33 in warrior and Brian’s that you would need to make it a +3 in warrior to equal a +1 in other manufacturers? I find that hard to believe since I’ve read several people saying the stock thigh rise is huge.

How are the thigh rises on warrior pads? Been reading they measure bigger than what they say, longer than other brands. I’m using a +2 right now but the 1.5 seemed pretty big.
  10. Wow that’s pretty awesome for a company to do that. It’s things like that which keep lifelong customers.
  11. Say WWHHAAAAATT! Like for free?
  12. What is your guys fit guarantee? Tried a quick google search and didn’t find anything. Im still trying to narrow down my sizing, not being able to go and try on some is driving me crazy.

What did you go with? I’ve only ever used skate lace and always thought it retained pucks easier

What combo y’all think? I started out liking the purple T but starting to like black T with purple binding.

So think I’m going to pull the trigger and order a set of pro pads from the guys at TGC, with their killer deal right now it’s hard to pass it up. Ill get the colors I want as well as the longevity I’m looking for. ive been using double tees for forever now but see G5’s come standard with single tees. Are tees personal preference or is their benefit of one over the other. I’ve never used a single tee besides on a sr glove I used for a couple weeks ten years ago. Both my Simmons gloves have been double and only thing I’ve read was you can see the pucks easier in the double. these are my narrowed down colors, fan of the retro knee roll look so leaning towards them
  16. You stated that you don’t use a boot strap so it pulls the pads up higher, would you still be landing on the stack if you did use the boot strap?
  17. I’m 5’10/5’11 on a good day. I tried on G4 pads and the 33 seemed to fit me but I was not all the way at the top of the knee stack but landing higher than halfway. I also tried on 34’s and they seemed massive and I was landing a little lower but not that much lower. Wish my LHS was open so I could go try them on again
  18. This look roughly like your FTK? I would say I’m between 19.5 and 19.75
  19. Where are you landing On the kneestack? You recommended that I go with 33 too and my ftk measurement is roughly 19.5/75. I only ask because retailer suggested I go with 34 but like you mentioned I want to be mobile and not clumsy. Did your boot break in and cause the pads to settle a little? Im worried about ordering a set and having the sizing being off and be stuck with a set of $1500 pads that are to big or small.

I know the pads are stiffer foams but did you find them settle at all? Shrink at all once the boot was broken in more?
