  1. That was my old bucket. Solid mask, I can vouch for them.

Might want to adjust the foam to your fit, to all those considering this mask. I kept it standard, but after a few hours of play, headaches started to set it. But then again, it could of been my head scalf knot digging in 🤣

Awesome assist by Mike Smith last night in ot for the win.

    [8:25 mark]

I like Mike Smith a lot, but I’m a Sharks fan, so I hated him in that moment. I gave some choice words out loud and quickly got put in my place by my significant other 🤣

Anyways, back on topic. I just found Lorna Shore's "Into The Hellfire" the other day. Wow. Great song.

Deathcore has never found it’s way into my playlists. Not a fan on any level. But then again, I guess I’m an old grump when it comes to death metal.

I don't watch the NHL for many reasons. The biggest is the lack of passion for the teams and the league.

I’m a big time Rögle BK fan of the SHL, watched a game last night as it’s the playoffs. The crowd was so pumped, full capacity and behind the team 100%. So much more atmospheric than the NHL is, or until it’s at least round 2 of the playoffs at least.

Funny enough, soccer has officially surpassed hockey as the 4th most popular sport un the USA and soccer is almost as boring as baseball.

I don't think it's scoring that's primarily the reason hockey isn't taking off.

I’m English and I hate football (soccer). North American sports are far more entertaining and more fun to play. I’ve always seen ice hockey as more of a specialist sport, both in playing and in spectating.

What I take from @bunnyman666 is more of a basketball scoring system. As he mentioned, 2 points for it being shot from the point. But then again, I’m probably misunderstanding! I’m a traditionalist when it comes to sports and it’s scoring, rules, equipment etc.

Evolution in how the game is played, tweeks in existing rules regarding to play or equipment is inevitable. But major changes to the game itself seems illogical to me, personally.

Coincidentally, I saw both Talbot and Fleury this year in person and they have 1 thing in common:  CONSTANT stretching during TV timeouts for games.  Most goalies skate to the bench and socialize, they don't.  They might leave the crease for the sweepers, but they just move to the side and it's constant stretching.  They're the only ones I've seen who do that.

Now they can stretch together! 😄…..

    Let's chat about goalie moves!

    Big one, Fleury to Minnesota

I was kind of surprised by this one to be honest! I remember Fleury from his rookie year and had never been a fan. Not to say I didn’t respect his ability though. But watching him in the playoffs last season with Vegas, I became a fan. I remember that first series between Vegas and Minnesota and loving the goaltending on both teams. It was unreal. Instantly hooked. Shame Chicago didn’t become a fit for him, but super excited to see how he does with the Wild.

I know the feeling. Had a few pucks hit that spot and it was debilitating.

Vaughn tried to address that on the V7 XR line with a few additions to the wraps. No idea how effective they were.

Yes, exactly that. I’d imagine that XR wrap would be much more protective, even if by a little, in comparison to that XF at least!

I’m trying hard not to be the semantics police, but they’re not “thigh boards” but lace in “thigh guards/knee pads.” The thigh board that hangs out your pants is illegal as per NHL rules.

That said increasingly rare but not extinct yet. Typically associated when Vaughn guys. Greiss, Petersen, Gibson all from this season. And I recall Carter Hutton for the Lefevre style ones over his knee pads as an added layer, but I can’t find any photos.

I had these on my Sher-Wood’s. Thigh wraps I knew them as, practical, but as you can see on Gibson, they have a slight gap where the Velcro is. If you didn’t wear knee pads like myself, and a puck squeaked in? That little gap would do F all and I’d always have bruised knees if one got through!

32 Quick  No, HOF MAYBE, but not worthy of having his number retired

29 Fleury   No, as mentioned above his most noteworthy success came in Vegas.  They could retire his number (and should) but doing so would dig back up the ugly way they ran him out of town.

88 Vasilevski   Hard to argue that with back to back Cup championships he's not deserving.   A 3rd Cup would make it a lead-pipe lock.

31 Shesterkin (at this rate)  Way to early.   Could be the next Jim Carey.

36 Gibson   O.......K.......   I suppose maybe on the Ducks, but he wouldn't be considered on a team with more history.

31 Price    Pretty good chance this happens.

And for the love of god put cujo in the hall of fame.   Yes!   The dude was fantastic everywhere he played other than Detroit, and that was just a terrible fit.   Not his fault at all.

I’m with you on all of that, except Fleury, I think Pittsburgh will retire his 29.

I think the reason they haven’t retired #20 is the same reason Turco is the “local” face of the stars for goalies off the ice 😉

Seriously though Turco’s face is on everything down here

Interesting to note as well that Kari Lehtonen was in net at the stars alumni classic instead of the usual Turco

Seeing Turco just reminds me of names like DiPietro!

  12. Some good names coming up!

I’ll jut in now. Sharks, for me is, as I initially said, 12 for Marleau, I’d like to see 39 and 88 too.

It’s hard to think of a goalie, apart from the obvious, because as aforementioned, goalies compared to skaters, don’t tend to stay with a team much longer than 4-5 years currently. But, there are some definite long time retired goalies that deserve either jersey retirement and/or HoF induction.

You guys heard of a guy named Fleury, a goalie?  He's pretty good and no spring chicken...but which rafters will hang his number? Pittsburgh sure, but it's been a while since he played there now.

I think that’s a definite for sure. Quick too. But apart from that, goalie wise, not much else. I can’t think of a current goalie who has been with a team as long as Quick has. Before Lundy and Rinne, no one else comes to mind.

  14. Hey all,

With some big names retiring and subsequently having they’re numbers retired, it got me thinking about future retired numbers.

Now, the NHL.com writers clearly had the same idea as me 😁. Who do you think will definitely have they’re number retired?

Whether it be goalie or skater, which team hasn’t had any retired yet? Who will be the first? Who would you like to see have they’re number retired? Who is a definite?

    Purely for fun!

I’ll start off, being a Sharks mega fan, by saying Marleau is a definite.

  15. Anyone think he’ll have his number retired? All time leader for Boston in most fields. Possibly?

I was never a fan to be honest, but I have respect for his accomplishments. Always find him to be a bit lack lustre, but that’s just my opinion. He will always be synonymous with Boston though. I do feel for him not being able to carry on and try for another cup.

I did. It's one of the articles linked in this thread.  They also mentioned the creation of the Lundy loop on skates.  He made an impact, for sure.

Beg your pardon, I glazed over the thread in all honesty! But, yes that boot strap loop was another. My old tandem buddy used to wear a gloves under his catch glove a la Lundy too. Extra grip he said. Less stink maybe, too!

  17. Did anyone catch the article where he started to use his practice palm glove in game? So stiff he could barely, if at all, close it? I believe he was described as a waiter holding a tray when he did catch the puck!

I don’t mind NYR, they’re one of those teams that I have respect for the goalie history more than the team itself, but not winning a cup aside, he has many accolades to be proud of. HoF for sure.

They're my all time fav.. last time I saw them live was summer 2019 before the kung flu. The only thing that sucked was that they opened for Deep Purple and didn't get the full PA output. Couldn't really here Scott Travis' snare etc ... I was kinda bummed about  it but it was still bad ass.

Regardless, you still saw Priest. I’ve seen loads of bands over the years, which I really wanted to see. But they didn’t always have the greatest sound. But it didn’t matter!
