The report is out leading up to and including the incident for anyone to read. I swear I don't know why Beach let it go so far. He should've slammed this guys head into the wall or floor whichever was closer. Is this Aldrich some kind of master manipulator or what?

Makes you wonder doesn’t it? Why after all this time it all comes to light. I guess peer pressure is a bitch, he probably felt threatened if not actually, if he did speak up. Whose to say what was said behind closed doors.

  2. I think it will be more a case of it being put on the person(s) involved, as opposed to the organisation. But, depending on the level of backlash, it could affect the organisation, if not the league. Circumstances dependant.

  3. I would have the habit of, if it was a slow/easy game, singing to myself various songs. But usually I would be effin and blindin at my team if it was a slack goal against me, calling out my D to where they should go and what to do and not do! i.e. do not pass the puck past me from behind the goal line (pet peeve) calling out my guys when they’re offside and don’t know that they are. The occasional shit talk when I’m getting masked/heavy traffic. I’d get a bit physical with my stick during such moments!

But reading everyone else’s posts, it’s a good healthy thing to talk to yourself. Skaters/non goalies don’t always understand our position and what we do to be our best in the ice. Positive reinforcement is vital. We may get the occasional big up from our team on a good save for example, but during plays we are on our own. So talking to yourself is good! Plus it can throw off the other team! They may think your nuts and that gives you a psychological edge!

Meshuggah is pretty damn good. I need to listen to more of their music, so far my favorite of theirs is Future Breed Machine, those riffs man. Heard their newer stuff isn’t as good, though.

Meshuggah are in a league of their own. Destroy Erase Improve is a good album, but they found their sound (in my opinion) with Chaosphere. Check out their later stuff for sure, you won’t be disappointed!

For sure.  Don't get me wrong...I'm pretty caught up and modern head to toe right now, even with that unpopular V word on my gear.  I use all those things you just listed.

I even have a Verbero padded shirt coming to me as we speak.  How's that for cool kids points?

Oooh the V word! When Niemi was with the Sharks, I had some of his pro stock sticks. When he swapped to Vaughn, I was tempted to get some more, but alas had plenty of the Sher-Woods left over.

Let’s not forget about The Godfather of Death metal, the band Death. In the nineties, Chuck Schuldiner, the vocalist and guitarist would assemble all-star musicians for each album and ushered in technical death metal. Sadly he got brain cancer and died relatively young.

Cynic and Meshuggah are two other bands in that mold.

I tried to get into Death, but I struggled a bit. But they are historic within the scene.

Meshuggah are gods to me. Huge fan. Cynic, that first album gets played a lot! But the later stuff? I can appreciate the musicianship, but, again, I struggle.

Wow.  That is news to me.  Never seen that before.

Man, my aversion to that is is sharp.  Aside from just looks, not for a single second ever in my life playing hockey did I ever think anything like "I wish these laces on my skates didn't exist" or " I wish lacing up my skates was quicker or easier." So there is the practical side to this where I'm like....."but, why?  Since when are laces on skates a problem needing improvement?"

I was really slow to abandon thigh wraps, less slow but slow to adopt bungee toe ties, and sorta slow to abandon leather straps relative to a lot of goalies on here or even in the pros.  I'm a pretty stubborn, disagreeable person in general so my general response to changes and innovations is at first NO NO NO NO WHY WHY WHY.

I’m with you in that one @seagoal. Apart from leather straps, I agree on everything.

I then enquire with my old dealer, some time back, to see what’s new and I couldn’t help but feel like an old man with all this new type of toe bridges, strapping, thigh/knee protection, different materials for the sliding area of the pads etc!

Great thread. I listen to pretty much anything so glad to see some stuff I haven't heard of. Just checked out Archspire, woooow. Mind blown.

A Warrior's Call by Volbeat is my kid's favorite pump up song, the "Fight! Fight!" chorus gets em every time.

Archspire! I felt the same way!

Forgot to mention; Nile, Inanimate Existence, Severed Savior, Brain Drill, Viraemia, Necrophagist!

Here's a few screenshots of what I have downloaded to ensure I can play on the way to and stretching/dressing before a skate (kids take over the spotify sometimes).  Not nearly everything I listen to (grew up on Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, and Megadeth) just some of the heaviest.  I refer to technical metal as musician's music since I wouldn't expect a normy to get or appreciate it.  Was basically in a band as a guitarist in between my goalie life of 8-15 and 25 to present.

Cool, cool. If you like it techy, check out Blade of Horus, Archspire, recent Deeds of Flesh, Obscura!

Finally a Chicago goalie with the style and bravery to emphasize green on some gear.  Awesome looking bucket to compliment these badass B⭐s

This is how gear should be done! Head to toe, I love it. Reminds me of Crazy Eddie! I always have nostalgic memories with Chicago. Having those retro Air-Pac’s just tops it off.

Adam Werner was in the AHL, but my god he got underrated while in Colorado as a style guy.

    Coors Light anyone?

Nah, in all seriousness, wicked set. Sick of plain old all white with a dash of colour or just a repeated style. Aka Quick every year!
