  1. Point taken. Dad used to tell me what a sess pool that place is, and by the time Mom said I could have an account, I wasn't interested LOL
  2. I may try Sideline Swap. Not on fb and never will be.
  3. I think I will go silver on the pads and gloves. I may have trouble with resale, but resale in my locale is pretty bad, with my used sporting good shops having an over-abundance of goalie gear. I was able to get a very generous store credit for my left handed golf club set. I am actually right handed, but naturally bat left handed in baseball and was pretty good playing golf left-handed.
  4. I just saw a silver set on the ice before my game last night, but retro tan can look good. Decisions, decisions...
  5. I had no idea of what happened until I heard the goal buzzer. I thought that was super weird until I found out that school's OT record this season was 0-2 this season.
  6. We won 2-1! Grandpa and Uncle are putting their cash with mine for new pads! It was a hard-fought game. It was actually a shame that a fluke goal ended OT for the other goalie.
  7. There is a dude that I sometimes see when subbing for a low level league who basically jaws everyone and everything. He even tries to fight people and most people just stare. I try not to laugh at him, but sometimes it's hard. My grandpa will sometimes go to watch and after games says that someone needs to knock that dude into next week when he does stuff like that. I just laugh.
  8. Many pads have a lot of lacing cord that is pretty loose. My dad would pull the cord tighter to add more curve to his pads, which is something I have done to mine. I would find anywhere from 2-6" of lacing cord when tightening it up, and that isn't stressing the cord, even.
  9. That's what community is about. My dad taught me from early on that you should take care of your community because they will take care of you. I see a few bits of my dad's old gear around because he directed it to be given to other players in need. I hope to add to that by helping in this community who has taken me in. Now my cousins better be coming to town LOL
  10. White elephant sales are called that for a reason...
  11. @seagoal I have relatives in Buffalo. If they visit this year, I will ask them for a Sabers puck. I can't promise.
  12. You're probably right @coopaloop1234 Gotta think of resale.
  13. I was thinking about this because I was asked to try out for a spring league by a coach from another team. I have to pay for my gear with some help from Mom, Uncle and Grandma and Grandpa. I was going to get all metallic gold with green accents like Marc Andre Fleury for my high school team which is green and sport gold. If I make the team, I won't match the team colors of red, white, and blue. Add to that we may move before next season and team will have different colors, I don't want to switch gear again. White screams free agent and can look lame. Black is the next choice, but doesn't always look great. I am thinking silver or tan. We haven't ordered my new gear, so this is a good time to pick. I am thinking silver. What do you think?
  14. My dad (RIP) used to wonder when True would come out with their own stick because he said they made so many other peoples sticks. I will have to dig in my dad's player sticks, because he has an old Combat player stick that has the TrueTemper branding on it. I will post a pic when I find it.
  15. Tonight, I am starting against the team I got my first win against. It's a bit scary because of how out of hand that game became. It was the first game of the season, and everyone is tightening up. Welp, start school and shelf this game until the final bell rings.
  16. Those pads look super soft. I am guessing they are not what they appear to be, right? Love Quick, as well!
  17. My dad taught me to wear two great cups. I have a kevlar copy of the old Cooper steel cup in the Eagle goalie jock and a Nutshellz police-rated cup in a jock underneath my Eagle goal jock. Dad told me that most "double cup" goal jocks really are a cup and a half, being that the outer "cup" is just hard foam. My Eagle jock had the so-called outer cup removed, so I suppose that I am a true double cupper. I took Beaner's shot straight to the junk and only was aware that he hit me there. I swear that is the only place he can hit when he actually aims it LOL
  18. I backstopped a 2-1 game. It was tied 1-1 until late in the third when the opposition pulled the goalie and our star center scored on the empty net. Both team's defense kept shots visible to both goalies. Despite it being called my win, all of the credit goes to the team in front of me. My goal against was from a weird bounce that came from the glass behind me and was tipped in by my stick shaft. The star center scored both goals and wore the hardhat. I start Tuesday, with the other goalie starting Thursday.
  19. The HL felt like a second skin in the middle of the second stick n puck. Gramps can still shoot a bomb at the age of 72, and I didn't feel much, but was fully aware of the puck. If you need a chestie and want to save a few bucks, don't sleep on this one.
  20. I am wearing it today. It feels good out of the box and feels almost perfect. I should have it broken in by the third session.

  22. Grandpa is the best! This was a huge surprise for me! Grandpa asked if he could come along with me to my ice sessions and I told him yes! Best Thanksgiving ever, just wish my Dad was still here to see it.
  23. I was also shown this picture. I tried this on a few weeks back:
  24. It's not as dire as it sounds. I got a nice, big slice of pumpkin pie with nitro-whipped cream!
