Best luck with low end Sher-Wood composite like my Rekker M70..Three years ago I purchased the Rekker M70 and A Bauer Supreme S27, both sticks $129.99 each. Long story short, the M70 is still going strong, the S27 was replaced with another S27 and that replaced with two weeks left this last season with a Bauer GSX that looks and feels like a cheaper S27.

Now on to the calf, at first it was just going to be two elastic straps 2"-4" wide straight across the calf. After inner debate, I'm sewing loop velcro down the full length of the outer calf wrap on both sides. I will remove the two patches in the first pic and run a full strip. I have yards and yards of velcro and elastic strapping ranging from 1.5"- 8" wide. About the only thing left to do is break out the sewing machine and make a bunch of straps of all widths and see what works best for me.

The most pressing thing after removing the knee straps, was how to hold the knee stack together. By using the existing holes, I ran a nylon strap from the top slot on the knee wing to the lower hole on the knee block then across to the top of the calf, eliminating the need for a"prof strap".

Pads: Simmons 996, 13-14 yrs old. The first thing was to remove the two leather knee straps and three leather calf straps and the five buckles for them.

Yep, mine are now nylon webbing.

I don't know about most iconic, but as a kid in the 60's there was nothing better than HNIC, Gump vs. Bower. Those little guys were so acrobatic and really knew how to use their sticks.

KOHO skates, my feet are hurting just by thinking about them. They were worst then the clunky Bauer's I wore in the70's.

I have found that the cat eye cage that come standard with the 9961 and 962 are a little tight. The cage makes contact with the shell on the forehead, temples and the lip of the window, take a shot in the cage and you were loosing paint. I found Nix hockey on SL and took a shot that their cage would fit, The fit is great and they make NO contact with shell and with no shell contact it seems to disperse the force of impact to the cage better. I have no affiliation with Nix, just a happy customer.

I wish my hair was that dark, I have a lot more grey than that.
