I still remember how sought after the unicorn reebok 600 break was at the time.

    How things change

IIRC the 600 was highly rumored to be based off another well-loved glove, the Vaughn 5500

I took a shot off the side of my skate the other night that didn't feel good. There is a slight bruise on my foot and some tenderness. Right when it happened it killed. I was hugging the post and the shooter was way to my right side. I guess he was trying to bank in the shot but it hit the side square on flush and rebounded out

My skates aren't the best but I really like them. 6092 Tacks with cowling. They're very comfortable. They seem stiff to me and don't flex too much with the squeeze test.

Just wondering are higher end skates more protective in the sides of the boot? Is a stiff boot all about ankle support or are they more protective? Thanks

    Would something like this work?

Stole image from here, Binnie's sells them:

Aside from Crawford in CHI and Turco in DAL I'm almost in complete agreement.

That VAN vs DAL Series where game 1 went to 4OT really solidified Turco for me.

    I went 30/32, decent save %

  4. I'll play too, I think these choices are heavily dependent on the era you grew up in

    Anaheim - Giguere
    Arizona - Khabibulin
    Boston - Thomas
    Buffalo - Hasek
    Calgary - Kipper
    Carolina - Ward
Chicago - Admittedly a weird choice - Thibault
    Colorado - Roy
    Columbus - Detective Sergei Bobrovsky
    Dallas - Belfour
    Detroit - Osgood
Edmonton - Cujo.  Meme vote goes to Salo
    Florida - Luongo
    LA - Quick
    Minnesota - Backstrom
    Montreal - Roy
    Nashville - Rinne
    NJ - Brodeur
NYR - Richter, honorable mention to Lundy
NYI - DiPietro (that contract lol)
Ottawa - Emery (RIP), honorable mention to Lalime for the Marvin the Martian mask
PHI - Bryz (tigers and outer space lol)
    PIT - Fleury
    SJS - Nabby
    SEA - I guess Grubauer.
STL - nobody really of note; I'd say Binnington if I had to (won a Cup).  Meme vote goes to Brodeur
    TBL - Vasi
    TOR - Potvin
VAN - McLean, honorable mention to Luongo
    VGK - Fleury
    WAS - Kolzig or Holtby
WPG - Helleybuck, but if we're talking as a franchise, Lehtonen

  5. View from center ice shows it was more than just incidental contact - there's two jabs from Palola trying to push him off the post in the RVH.

First jab happens as the puck is passed under the goal line.  Armalis actually looked at ref for a pending call, saw nothing happening, got jabbed again, and decided to take action for himself.

Feel bad for the guy getting a concy.

Thing I came up with. Likely going with PX3 since I like the precurve a little more and they can be customized to basically be a HZRDUS otherwise (thin extra stiff core 👀).

    I kinda see a swastika :/

Was looking at the Hazardous customizer.

    1. Weird that the blocker cuff only has a half-piece option. Custom catalog has options for both half- and one-piece options.

    2. There's an option for Board Angle, but only one option - Regular Face. There's no mention of Board Angles on the custom catalog. A sign of things to come?

Looks like "angle face" is the other board option

CCM's pros are also younger and possibly a little less set in their ways than the True guys.   I've always found it interesting that, despite having access to new toys with a much lower bar to entry than your average Joe, an awful lot of professional hockey players seem to cling to what they know as they age.   They'll update their training methods, eat better, work with new coaches to try different drills, etc.... but cling to the same old gear they've used forever.   And it's not just goalies.   The example I'm most familiar with is Filip Hronek.   Last year with Detroit he went from using a stick with a flat toe and a heel curve to a standard P28 curve and stuck with it all summer.   The result was his best offensive season and he netted a 1st and a 4th from Vancouver at the deadline.  At the start of the year we were hoping we'd get a 2nd for the guy!

New gear certainly isn't a panacea for guys, but you really only see guys make a switch and try it out long term if they're in full blown desperation mode like Jack Campbell or Antti Ranta (who's already gone back to Brian's).

To bring it back to CCM, removing the wrist strap makes the glove much more functional.   The easy range of motion was the best thing about Warrior gloves back in the day, and the CCM version I tried on last year felt amazing as well.   There's very little loss of attachment and much less resistance moving the glove around.

An article came out on the Athletic about how pro gear reps influence athlete decision-making in November.

Was on the ice yesterday but I forgot to take pics lol. Took these today

I'd bring in the slack at the toes for sure.  Would also consider tightening up the knee block elastic

  10. Can you post pictures of your leg in the leg pad?

Picture doesn't really show anything, just a mass of black gear.

How tight is your knee block velcro to the outer calf wrap?

How loose is your lower FRS?

3-4" of slack is insane.  I have shit hips and my ties are at 2", inset

after baking konekts on my 14y old he complains they are a bit sore on the out sides near the bottom same place on every pair of skates he wears (fl;at and wide foot) usually after baking and trying normal skates i heat the area a little with a heat gun and push out and down sides with my fingers from inside skate. Has any one done any thing similar with these konekts?

The foam shims are used in the initial heat molding process to help with hot spots like this

Yup that makes sense. It was likely just a perception thing on my part due to them being slightly different style of pad. The 20.2 is tempting me because there's some good sales right now and I literally bought my Eflex 6's a few months ago, haha. We don't all get the employee discount! 😂

Probably has a lot to do with the boot break angle between the two models and how you look at the pad straight on

FWIW, I do "feel" the boot break a lot more in Px3 than I did in 20.2.

You can probably wait til the new line comes out to get 20.2 at a better price.  There's still a big quality difference between Lefevre and offshore 20.2s in what I've seen so far.

Scott Wedgewood rocking a Bauer blocker with True graphic. Green’s don’t line up perfectly.

    Nice catch.... @TheGoalNet's pet peeve

Also note this shot is from Patty Roy's first NHL coaching victory with NYI.

Jury's still out on if the still has those Stanley Cup rings plugging his ears

Here's a bench shot of the goat
