    1. What was the custom design process like? Similar to the Bauer process? Would you say your process is similar to what a retail customer goes trough?
    2. Any hopes of CCM offering a library of older CCM/Heaton/Koho designs? Tell them to call it the "Heritage Collection" and make online customizers! I think this would get a lot more people looking at CCM gear. They can start with really popular retro designs - Potvin, 580, Heaton 10, etc. Maybe roll out additional designs throughout the years...

I'll give both the US and Elite skates a try on my feet this weekend.

Question for you: I have 2 sets of steel that I rotate through on my current 3S skates.  Will those sets work on these Elite skates too or just the Ultrasonics?

If you end up getting a 8.5 Fit 3 Elite, it will have a size 9 holder and will require the size 9 steel, in which case your old steel would not fit. But 8.5 Fit 2 and Fit 1 will have the size 8 holder.

Same goes with the Ultrasonic. If you keep the same length (8.5) but move up to the EE width, you'll now be in a size 9 holder and your old steel will not fit. D width will be compatible with your old steel.

I'm am sold on the Ultrasonic skates just based on sizing, so that is a win here.

The Ultrasonics might fit slightly differently from 3S based on the stiffness of the boot's materials and the foams/liners used on the inside. Depending on how the skate fits your foot, a stiff skate might not be quite as comfortable out of the box because the additional padding and stiff shell might not be as comfortable on and against your foot.

My set showed up today. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the total custom pro vs the retail stuff. 581 pro palm will take some getting use to, but I have a regular 580 pro palm on the way just in case. Vegas gold speed skin is 👌👌

    Nice looking set!

Current skates are plain 3S, size 8.5 D.  I plan to go in for some sizing/fit tests this coming Saturday.

I'm having trouble imagining what stiffness means in a skate, can you elaborate?  I get that the internal padding can vary, but I'm struggling to see how flexibility/stiffness is a thing in a skate.

Basically, stiffness has to do with the shell of the skate. Give your 3S a squeeze and it's probably not too difficult to make it bend a little. Try that with a stiff skate like the Ultrasonic or some True Customs and you will feel the difference. The idea behind stiff skates is that the stiffness allows you to transfer more power from your movements and pushes through the skate and into the ice. translating to a stronger push/slide/cut. A soft skate would theoretically transfer less power because the energy from your movement is absorbed by the softer/flexible material of the boot.

Skate boots that are stiff are generally made from higher-end composites/fibers that will react more to heat molding, allowing better fit to your foot and also being able to retain its shape longer over time. People who have own Trues, or at least heat molded them have felt how pliable they get when heated up and how they really form to your foot after baking.

Take a look at player skates, where there are more price points. The bottom price point skates are generally made from plastic or even nylon-type materials that won't mold or retain it's shape when heated up, and the top-end are composite/carbon skates that are super stiff. Give 'em a squeeze and you'll see.

With goalie, there are less price points so the differences are not quite as radical.

  5. You probably know already that Ultrasonic is the pro level version of your skate. You mention you have the 3S. Is that the 3S Pro or just plain 3S? Whatever the case, fit should be similar within that line-up, though Ultrasonic will be much stiffer if you're currently in the regular 3S.

Fit between the Supremes and Elites are a little different as the Supremes are on the old system (D/EE) to the Fit 1/2/3 system. Fit 2 should be closest to a D-width skate from the Ultrasonic/3S family.

The big thing with the Bauer Pro/Elite/GSX line of skates is that they are supposed to be stiffer on the bottom and more flexible up top, while the US should be pretty stiff all around. IIRC, the toe cap is the same.

  6. Hi all, temporarily unlocking this topic as the existing thread is archived and does not allow anyone to post to it. Until I, or another admin, figure out how to remove that thread from the archive, this thread will remain open.

  7. Have these from my GT2s. I don't think they were ever used. I'm think I'm missing one of the black plastic clips to attach one of the buckles.

EDIT: I'm in California so shipping will take forever, if my experience with sending my Protechsport for refurbishment is anything to go by.

Wow, I know there are some photography optical illusions going on here and they are lined up perfectly ,but the used ones looks substantially smaller than the new ones.  The used ones are possibly bent downwards more, too?

The old pads are definitely breaking in and developing more of a curve above the knee which is exactly what I was wanting/hoping for.

For some reason the old pads seem more narrow in the picture, too. I snapped the picture real quick so I didn't bother to make sure everything lined up and that the camera was straight-on.

Have you tried chasing them up?..

I would've been on the phone daily.

Kinda hard to chase after them when you get employee pricing though... it does sound like whoever transcribed your order from your spec sheet to the employee order form is culpable, though. Hope you're able at least to speak with the manager and figure out a solution.

If the order is wrong from what's printed on the box (the employee order form specs), the manager/Bauer should be able to replace it. Bauer don't need to know it's for a customer. Manager can play it as if his own set came in wrong - if he was ordering under his own name.

I had an issue with my HL2 - ordered Grip Knee and got the non-grippy knee, told Bauer about it, they offered to build a whole new pad, let me use the current ones, and send back the used pads when the new ones came in. I declined, but in their eagerness to make it right, they had put already put the order for the replacements in. Somehow, some wires got crossed after I declined getting replacements and they didn't cancel the warranty order. They showed up at my house a couple days ago. I've returned them to Bauer. I think it'll become part of their demo fleet. Funny to know that a pad with my nickname on 'em will be going all around the country/continent?

after going over all the specs from the ONLINE ORDER ID, the glove construction is wrong, the internal glove material is wrong and the construction lacing color in the pads was incorrect as well. Black was used in stead of red.

The Pad lacing is not worth [waiting for another set of pads, so not a big deal there, the glove internal material is somewhat forgivable possibly, but the glove construction error is prretty huge

    Any update to this story?

Unrelated but make sure yours has the steel blade retention screw and not the plastic one.  Yours most likely have the steel ones, but on the cheaper CCM's they switched them over to the plastic screws.  One of mine on my old pair of CCM's snapped mid game and my blade kept popping out.

Those plastic screws had a habit of coming loose/stripped. Embarrassing moments at retail: "Sure, I'll show you how it works. You just unscrew the dial and the blade comes out. Easy, right? Now, just hold the steel in place and rotate the dial again and it will lock right in. It's not screwing it? Wait, let me try. Wait, I got it. Wait, wait. Hmm, it's not rotating. Uhhh...."

Thank you, I don't know why I was having a hard time finding that. Now in regards to a profile will there be one that will give me a similar feel to what my Bauer skates had, as correct me if I'm wrong but they are slightly pitched more forward then CCM skates?

Yes, Bauer goalie holders are pitched a bit more forward than CCMs in my experience. I think a Goalie SAM profile might be a bit more forward leaning too, but I haven't tried it before.

I have no used these skates 6 times and I have adjusted to the boot in terms of comfort but I just can't not adjust to the blades, I know these are a 3mm and my old skates were a 4mm. DonI have an option to switch back to a 4mm with these holders?

Step Black comes in a 4mm width for the XSG holder.

Yes I have the SAP and order number..I cut all the papers off the box before it was thrown out yesterday. Hopefully the store contacted the REP..which would explain the no response yet, lol.  The rep took 2 months to get the right forms to us for the Bauer employee program.  I will keep you guys upated..My biggest worry is that the store messed it up somehow, so in that case, I will not pursue any corrective action if its costs the store money or someone can get in trouble...

When you submitted the order, did you complete the Bauer Employee Purchase program Excel file? Or did you do it on Bauer.com, get the Recipe ID and pass that ID on, either to the rep or the store? Could be a transcription error of getting the Recipe specs to the Excel file. And if that's the case, I'd say the onus is on the rep/store to correct it.

as well, I ordered Mach Grip print (yellowish nash), but th internal material is Catch Plus (grey).

Im not sure what can be done as this was through a Bauer rep. Gave him the online recipe ID and paid the money. I never got an order nuumber. It just came to the shop where my buddy works.

My order was through the Bauer employee program, so it didn't really go through the store, but there should be an order ID on your spec sheet. There's a SAP Sales Order # and a Bauer PO # - I forget which one they need to look up your order. Maybe contact the rep first? Anyway, sounds like the internal material mix-up might be enough to get a catcher re-made for you. Good luck and keep us updated!

I did that immediately after getting home. Luckily I took the box from the store and their printed specs had the HL2 contruction on it...my Bauer ID clearly says V90. I contacted the store, sent all the pics but have not heard back yet.

How did they resolve your issue?  Did you have to return the item(s)?  this is a pro custom order and the glove will be used tomorrow..Have no choice, my son has a game and has to play...

I specced Grip Knee on my Hyperlite 2 leg pads, but got the older HL1 Nash knee. Pointed it out to Bauer and they confirmed it was their mistake. They offered to build a new set of pads, and to let me use my pads until the new ones came in, at which point they would provide me a shipping label to send the old pads back. I ultimately declined the new legs.

The printed specs on my order that was attached to my box did say Grip Knee though. Not sure what will happen for you if the printed form says HL2 glove.

You can try calling Bauer support directly, there's a phone number on the website. I believe you have an order number printed on the top left or top right of the spec sheet that's attached to the box.
