Its supposed to be in Jamestown, Johnstown, something like that.

Doesn't every county in every state in all of the United States have a Johnstown AND a Jamestown?  And a Springfield.  Seems like it anyways to this Canadian, from the country where a Football league with only 9 teams had 2 teams named the Roughriders.

Nice, I didn't know this about you Naz.   Were you a Royal or Giant?

A Cougar, when they were still in Victoria.  The last year of a winning team in Victoria.  I only got into a few games, rode the pine as a 17 year old backup for about 2 months when Wade Flaherty got hurt.

What year was that?  I don't think I'm aware of it.  I have only lived in Seattle since 2006.

So you played in the WHL back in the day, (eh?)? (<-- proper use of Canadian right here....I know my Canadian linguistic question structures) :)

Nice and proper use of eh!
yes, this was way back in the day... the 88/89 Season for me.  I think it was about 94 or so that they stopped using that arena altogether.
Tight corners that the zamboni couldn't even get into, suuuuuper steep stands that felt like the fans were right on top of you, and LOUD!!!

I miss the old Mercer Street arena where the Thunderbirds used to play.  That was probably the most intimidating arena I have ever played in as a visiting team.

You mean the goal mask, not the face mask, right?

yup, the goal mask.  In the side view, he is looking through the bars one level down from where it should be sitting.  He looks like every WHL goalie from a few years back in their ill-fitting Bauer masks

I picked up one of the CCM goalie face masks.  It's a pretty clever design (although it looks like a crotch pastie for ladies).  I like how it does not cover the mouth and stays in place just on the nose, but, I do not like how it blocks downward vision.  I imagine down on the ice trying to cover or gather a puck with my gloves and doing it blindly if the puck is close enough to me.  Or, being on my skates and having a puck below me at my skates and struggling to see it when looking down.

WTF, CCM actually produced an ad with the mask sitting that poorly?

Noticed something in the Habs-Jets game Wednesday. I think Price was wearing True skates (which of course goes with the gloves and pads, so plausible).

For reference, his usual (CCM?) Graf cowling skates in Monday’s game:

    And then in Wednesday’s game:

Or the best pics, but good enough to notice white/cowling to black/cowlingless

EDIT: Just found GGN posted about this (though did not at that point know he’d wear them in the game). Apparently he was wearing a True boot inside the cowling:

He stumbled a few times in them last night

Well all goalies involved in that game were looking good style-wise, at least...except Ryan left the correct glove and stick at home and packed the orange ones instead.  Oops.

EDIT: scratch the stick....the orange one must be for warm-ups.

When was the last time both goalies in a game had the Iceberg graphic?

Interesting that The Cat is routing both boot straps through the back hole in the skates. I’ve always seen and assumed one boot strap goes through the back hole and the other through the middle hole of the skate.

I put both boot straps of my Vaughn Vision 3500's through the same hole.  Crank 'em both right down as well.

I'm sure any piece of gear that's modern now a days would be so foreign to these guys back then. Just like this is foreign to us.

I wonder if someone would be laughed out of the room for showing up with today's gear

Hell, a foreward would get laughed out, nevermind a goalie

Anyways, back to my point.  One of the things that bothered me about stopping was my kids.  They both watched me play 2 summers ago.  She was an infant and he was still a toddler so its nothing they would remember.  I want my kids to watch me play some more before I am done for good.

This one hit home for me.  I was 3 years into my 20 year hiatus from hockey when my daughter was born.  She had seen old VHS from my Junior days, and had always wanted to see me play in person.  It was one of the highlights of my life to see how thrilled she was to finally watch me play when I got back on the ice.
Maybe a year away from the game could be good for you.  All I can say, is never give it up completely.  And, stay involved here!  It keeps your mind in the game, and your input is always awesome.  Besides, I don't think I could handle @coopaloop1234 missing you...

Pretty sure this was Moog's. He was given a cage in lieu of the fishbowl he was playing with.

Or something along those lines, I was born in 88'. My memory of those olympics is a bit hazy.

Annnnd I instantly felt REALLY old... I was 17 in 88.  Moog was actually one of my idols from the time he started with the Oilers.
Moog wore an SK2000 in those Olympics with the Itech shield.  Burke wore the Bubble Cage.

Demko's post entry and exits are so polished

yet, have you ever watched him skate?  Simply horrible!  I watched him skate to the bench on a delayed penalty and it was painful to watch.

Demko looks to be wearing kevlar socks for protection (me wants), and astonishingly Holtby ditched his Graf skates. Could that be (aside his bad team) a reason for his struggle? Some of you might remember the same thing happening with Theodore when he went all Itech in Montreal. He had a horrible season and was traded not long after.

I feel bad for Holtby. He had a strong game in Washington.

Could be?  Price switched back to his Graf cowlings a few times.

Congrats! Pretty cool find and I love the retro look!

How is the padding inside the helmet - can it be replaced if it is rock-like? Yeah  that cage looks like someone took a hammer to it :( How hard will it be to get an replacement?

Padding is wearable, although I should replace it.
Had another member graciously offer me another cage!  OTNY does make replacements, but they are over $100. This one looks like it was bent back into shape several times, and then painted with Liquid Paper LOL
