    Yes

I have no specific insider info on this one... but my understanding is that he had a business backer (money guy) for Coveted. The business relationship went south. He started Apex with more control over the company itself.

Believe this is all similar stories to Wall -> Victory -> Savior

He did have a business partner (Investor), the business relationship ship didn't go south from what was mentioned to me he said "my business partner and I going serperate directions.  He is out of the goalie mask industry." he also apologized to me that I won't be able to get a lambo ride now :(

the split was also amicable as well.

His former business partner is a part owner of E360 waste he has been in that industry for a while.

Side note I did get to drive a Lambo in Vegas a couple years ago and it was really fun!

The big question is, what happens to the ‘Coveted’ vanity plate on the Lambo?!  🤔

Probably has a new plate on it or left it lol.

  2. I am curious on if you change the boot angle from regular to open if it will affect the size?  I have my Fleury tribute set ready to go once I figure this out (aka waiting for my rep to get back to me lol)

Which is strange since I found the C/A's I needed to up a size for the same fit.

    Who's their sizing guy? lol

Not too sure!  I wear a large body medium arms with them.  That's my size though for a bunch of companies.

  4. Alright so something I learnt with my pants coming from a CCM large.  You need to get smaller legs in the Vaughn pant.  The legs are an inch too long.  So I need to re-order my pant after waiting 6 months to get them :(

    Thanks @Chenner29 for the shoutout.

With regard to hotter rebounds, @thebigm made a thread quite awhile ago about his custom order VE8 set.  In that thread he mentioned he had the pad layered like the SLR pads with the carbon on the face of the pad rather than presumably behind a layer of foam.  I don't know the specifics of what that involves or if Vaughn still does the SLR3 that way, but I asked for that option, and let's just say the rebounds are still meh.  If you're after really hot rebounds, just ignore the Velocity line.

If I was trying to replicate a V3 pad, I would FOR SURE spec the soft scoop/boot.  I went with the stiff thigh rise and stock boot, and the boot isn't anywhere near as soft as what was used for the VE8s.  If you look at photos of the VE8 in use, the boot looks like it might as well be off of a V3 pad they way it bends over the skate when it's loaded up.  The stock boot on the V9 is nowhere near that soft, or as soft as something like the EF4.  It doesn't twist really at all, but vertically it does have some compliance.  If I was ordering these over again I would have gone with the soft boot and asked to see if they could do a flatter boot channel.

This dude's V9 set is probably as close as you could get to the feel and playability of a V3.

What I found out the V9 pad  is what I did with my V8s according to my rep.  The rebounds aren't as hot as some pads, also only wore them for about 6 month before they were sold lol.

  6. I also just placed my custom SLR3 pant order I've been wearing pretty much every version of RBK/CCM pant since 2006.

    My specs are as follows:

    Size Large

Pro logos and ghosted I like the clean look.

Leather tabs for suspender buttons instead of having the buttons on nylon loops got that idea from @ZeroGravitas

Also had a carbon insert put on the inside of the thigh for extra protection. Trying to replicate my Pro stock CCM pant.

I am also excited to try something new.  I fell in love with them when my rep brought the sample by!

    Same question here…

Also, why another 590? Almost every brand offers one already plus a 600ish break. They are the perfect people to start offering a retail 580 or something else. They might as well try setting themselves apart in a way other than year long custom wait times.

Because it is one of the most common and well like glove closures.  If you did a 580 you would only be hitting a minor group of people.  Manufactures build for the masses not us super picky people lol.

Supposedly retail stock gear will be manufactured in Asia and in stores by April/May

The stock gear will be made overseas with "same" quality as they produce in Canada.

    Colours are: White, White/black, White/red, White/royal 33-35 all with a +2

Backhand shot.  Looks like a Velocity glove.  One thing I do think may cause some issue is the aerospacer portion of the cuff.  It contacts my forearm some when I present the glove even without my C&A on, I do worry it might be slightly restricting, but time will tell.

I had the exact same issue with my VE8 glove I actually took my seem ripper and took it off and re-stitched the trim back on.  Did it wall by hand but it gave way more mobility.  When you order the glove you can ask for that piece to be removed.

The stock CCM blades are 3mm but Step does make fat blades for the XSG that is a 4mm blade with the top notched out to fit the 3mm holder.  I have them and so does @BadAngle41.  We both got them from @thebigm.

I also use the XSG holder I had them on my custom Graf skates and my True skate now as well.

Stock CCM steel is 3mm like SaveByRichter35 has mentioned with Step offering a 4mm which is called XSG FAT.

@RichMan The holder will fit as long as you get the right holder size.  They may have to drill a new hole or two to have the new holder fit properly which is common when switching between brands.

Got my chest in today. Hopefully I can get it on the ice soon without it being a playoff game. The arms definitely seem to be stiff, I got extra padding added to the ribs/side and arms. Glove mobility seemed to be pretty good and didn’t have much interference with my mask.

can you take pics of the added padding?

I do understand if you don't feel comfortable trimming it at home, but this is designed to be "trim to fit" where you can tweak the pieces internally. There is not going to be any issues with excess skin on the collar portion of the neck guard.

@thebigm trimmed his and I believe he can validate there are no issues

I trimmed mine and he was correct I had no issues.  It's looser in there but there isn't tons of extra skin that would make it annoying.

@thebigm  How long have you been using it and how is it holding up?  I'm very interested in this product as well.

I got my in summer of last year and it's holding up perfectly fine!

Any tester think this is better than a roughneck?

So I haven't used a roughneck but I have used 2 Maltese a 2nd gen and his last gen he made.

I found personally the Aegis has much better impact absorption properties than the Maltese.  I never got hurt in my Maltese collar but I could feel impacts from hard slap shots that would hit me up high.  None that cause discomfort or pain just a sensation to let me know where it is.  With the Aegis I barely felt as the first shot in a game I took when I first got it hit me in the collar bone!

I can't say anything about the weight between the two because my second collar didn't have the Reiter spec so it was a smaller size bib.  I much prefer the Aegis shape as it offers much more coverage in the clavicle than my Maltese.  Comparing visually to the Roughneck the look to be about the same size?  I am unsure as I haven't gotten my hands on one.

The one thing I would probably like better on the roughneck and my personally on my Maltese is the collar portion I like the feel of the foam/gel on the neck.  I also find it wraps my neck significantly better as well as i have like a 16.5"-17" neck and the Aegis was just a little too narrow.  I did get a longer neck piece sent to me but still found the neck didn't wrap around my neck as much as I wanted to.  I am too use to having the collar wrap all the way around my neck.

In the end I cut my old Maltese collar neck piece off and put it in the Aegis to have the best of both worlds and that's how I run it now!

Via GGN on Instagram, another look at the one piece (maybe integrated to the core?) knee blocks

The knee block is integrated into the core for a one piece design.

I slid around in a set when we had our trade show and I liked them.  The new knee block system is very nice.  Also like the strapping on them way more!
