  2. I got to wear this Wed night. I wanted to write a review yesterday but never got a chance. I had a lot of catching up to do from my holidays and we just had an employee pass away Monday night. So I wore the Aegis neck guard Wednesday night. I did trim one row and made a small dip in mine as I have a 17.5" neck and the height before was way too tall for my neck. So my old neck guard was a second gen Maltese it was big and heavy but I loved it as it was super protective. I just upgraded it a month ago with a newer Maltese neck guard which is way lighter - just regular not a Reiter spec. Now I have the Aegis. Comparison: Weight comparison goes as follow from heaviest to lightest. 2nd gen Maltese, Aegis (bigger than new Maltese) Newest gen Maltese. I honestly don't find the weight to be too much of an issue as long as it's comfortable. Initial Review: I will say I have only worn this once I went on holidays shortly after receiving this and only got to try it this week. I had to trim it to make it fit my neck which is perfectly fine. The trim to fit is a sweet way to make a customizable neck guard that can appeal to the masses which is a good thing in the business world. Custom takes more time and costs more money. I will admit when I wore it on the ice for the first time I forgot I even had it on it was very comfortable and I was also maybe a little more excited to wear my custom 2x pros. Did my normal warm up routine and we started a scrimage. Shortly after we started I was reminded that I was wearing a new neck guard as it got tested very quickly first shot was a break away and hit me right up high in the collarbone and jaw of my helmet. I knew it hit me in the clavicle but I didn't feel a thing. I thought I would feel more of a pressure on it but I didn't. Usually with the Maltese I knew where it hit but wouldn't hurt. The Aegis I didn't feel it at all which is weird for me but I am okay with that. I had no problem with it being too hot it was comfortable and again forgot I was wearing it (which is a good thing) and continued playing. I did not get hit again in the neck or collar bone for the rest of the game. What I would change if I could. if you look at the post by BadAngle41 of the Aegis and Maltese being worn the only thing I would like done is to have the length a bit longer so more of the circumference of your neck is covered. You can see in BadAngle41 picture it just kinda stops in front. while Matese wraps the side of your neck. This may only be an issue for larger necks not sure though.
  3. I am in the same boat as you I am also one of the testers. my neck is roughly the same dimensions as yours. Things we have learnt about this neck guard and chatting with @TheGoalNet we have made some discoveries. If you have a neck under 17" the stock height of the collar works well. As I have a larger neck I trimmed the neck foam down a bit (photos later) and cut a small dip as well to allow better movement of my neck. The way the foam is laid out you can essentially do a trim to fit design when you pull the foam out of the neck portion. It's the best of both worlds. I would like them to make the collar an inch longer and foam an inch longer as it doesn't wrap as much as my Maltese does. But that is also a preference thing for me.
  4. I am going to guess would be the weave on the sliding surface. To get companies to build specs for certain shops they require a minimum order. So they prob order X number of pads with that colour way to get what they want.
  5. What makes a happy goalie guy! His new custom warrior set. Good thing as I sold my bauer 2x pro pads and needed something to wear. 20190614_160200.mp4

not removable as I would have swapped to the Original GT part. Will be available shortly. I believe next week is launch I have to double check! hypercomp would be the main difference and the internals. I will try to get the differences later today. I am working on our new site so I don't get much free time to get to post on here. I should hopefully have the new site up and running within the next couple weeks!

Mid personally I find the comfiest and I agree about moving the thumb i moved it to far forward the other day and had a hard time drinking but I sold my G4 before I got these so I couldn't see how I had it set up. Mobility is awesome in the unit. I did find my chin was catching slightly on the floaters as they are a bit thicker than the original. I set it up pretty much the same way as I did with the old one and my chin would catch a bit nothing to impede but I notice it. the lower section is definitely wider. I wish this was tapered like the original as I had better mobility with my wrist and it didn't interfere with the blocker. I will be posting up a initial impression in the review section. I didn't play around with the strapping lots to get it where I needed and I had to tweak the thumb positioning to. I will add another note wore this set in a crucial game as I have a lot of confidence in warrior gear and I have worn them enough times to know how they feel and play. If we lost or tied we were going to play for third place but we squeaked out the win and won 5-3 (1 was an empty net). 2 goals no chance and the other one I tipped the puck in my own net! First save in them was a memorable one though. two on one passed across one timed I slid over caught the top of the pad and arm.

This will be my warrior set this year. Doing a black white theme for my gear this season. Also gonna try the 90 degree angle in the glove as that seems to be what I would like!

I am in the same boat as you! I'm waiting for my demo one as I wasn't a huge fan of the G4 arm.
  13. Im pretty sure they are building legacy models for them as they never throw out the dyes(sp?) for them
  14. I haven't even got my hands on one unfortunately! I did get to see the knee pads they offer the pros in a special pro catalog but that was about it. I don't mind the segments in the new floater i think it would allow you to see better side to side. I just don't like how the arms are and wished they were laced in so you can adust it better that way as elastic wears out.
  15. not too sure I think it was Elliot that complained if he wasn't squared to the shot he would feel it in the arm. I don't think they are getting the wrap they use to? Don't quote me on that as I haven't seen an NHL piece up close to dissect the issues.
  16. It's a really slimmed down version the arm looks like the arm off a vapor with the curve put on a 2s chest for added protection. For vaughn pro units in the arms they add an extra layer of foam to deaden the blow of shots but i think that they wear down pretty quickly.
  17. the pieces are all black plastic that hold the magnet but the strap colour will change on what you order. There is blue ones on our other v8's in the store.
  18. Posted these on GGSU needed to post them here! 34+2 Vaughn V8 will be writing a initial review and more in depth review as I use them!
  19. They still have the DM line that will continue to have cowlings. They are doing this as all the other companies are going cowlingless as well *cough CCM cough cough*
  20. That is definitely the prototype! I saw it at the shop when I was visiting Vaughn. So if people are unaware Vaughn bought Graf Canada (I believe) They moved the machines in the back of the Vaughn plant and that's where they are currently being produced. As for the skate they are doing something similar as True did they are taking the player holder and modding it so it can handle goalie steel. Those blades will be getting trimmed down a bit i believe less toe and a 5mm decrease in height as they are really tall. They will offer both 3mm and 4mm as we discussed this when we were in the plant. Both my Vaughn rep and myself like 4mm steel. So I said why not have the option for both!? Its not a bad skate for it's design and they will do custom as well! Not with a scanner yet but they may do that in the future.
  21. I will say you will not be disappointed with that v1 pro+ I have been using it for a few months now I can't go back to it. I will have a full review when they launch it!
