Not the outer, but I had a shot to the inner elbow once during varsity tryouts years ago. Not a fun time...

Nice save!!

I wear the KOHO 589 Pro Swiss style knee pads and the landing area is soft and thick.
Hear's a picture of what the landing area looks like on these:
:
These knee pads are extremely bulky though. So it may not be your thing. However, they area super protective and nice to land on.

I know for a fact he had friends in some goalie gear groups looking for this version of knee pad since its discontinued and he refuses to wear anything else. He has a stockpile a la Patrick Marleau and his Reebok skates
Wouldn't doubt that haha. I'd do the same thing if I had a preference and playing at his level.

Looking forward to seeing your setup!
It’s nothing fancy haha.
I noticed before a game that the laces that attached my bungee setup to the toe bridge was super loose, but I had no time to fix it. I ended up liking it and now do this moving forward. I should probably add a few knots instead to help with lace durability, but this is the setup I’m rocking right now.

I had a chance to see ones he wore years ago and looked almost same, without ProTech logo and carbon "tape" in the middle of the front plate. Even the grey part was same. I don´t know if they were the first ones, but Hiller was very picky and conservative about his gear .
Cool! And indeed he was.

Does your chest protector still feel tight enough if you don't tuck? Do you have to adjust it a lot from rotating? I just find that tucking and suspenders help keep it in place better without any movement restriction.
I find it is tight enough yes and does not rotate.

Does anyone wear jock shorts? Like the yellow mesh kind players wear. I wonder how they might work for holding up socks over knee pads.
My CCM legs have the velcro tabs, along with some inner thigh padding.

Nice to see the old Reebok's on Helly.

I have adopted a similar "lace before bungee" method as well. Always me to have the slack of a traditional toe tie setup with the added snapback of a bungee.
Will try and get pictures up when I'm home.

I've tried tucking, but it never worked for me. I would always have my suspenders fall off my shoulders when I tucked.
Same. I tried tucking once and it just didn't feel right for me. I prefer the feeling of having more freedom / movement.

Although I have considered a padded base layer on top. I've never had issues with stingers with my current C/A, so maybe it's overkill, but you just never know.
Any have experience with padded shirts? I'm open to any brand.

Nothing crazy, just CCM Goalie compressions pants with some padding on the inner thighs, and an Underarmour base layer up top. Tighter setup but I don't mind.
-
I used to have a painted mask, but have recently switches to a plain Bauer 960. Been considering a wrap though..

Congrats!

Throwing down a gorgeous 2 pad stack is nothing but fun. Especially against younger players who have NO clue what you just did to them. Love the stick position too, picture perfect!
Thank you! Much appreciated! Maybe I should two-pad stack more often haha.

To be fair though, the cowings you're showing are the final evolution of cowling design and sit slightly higher than the Gen 1 Vertexx's being discussed earlier.
True. Don't have any pics to compare those but you could be right in that they could be similar size.

Thank you! Not too bad. The impingement in my left hip causes issues but not too bad. Thanks for asking!
Nice. I am dealing with some tendonitis in my hip, so I feel you. Get well soon.

I recently started playing again after hanging up the pads in 2020 before covid hit... I was pleasantly surprised that I was already a member on here and remembered my password. I am now on a late 90's to early 2000's gear kick, trying to find a few sets that I wanted as a kid but couldn't afford. Just pulled out my Heaton 10 Pro's, bought a brand new Koho 570 mask that is being turned into a Brodeur replica right now. Even found some Cujo TPS's that were in incredible condition and if I remember correctly Mr. Heaton did some work on the TPS lines.
Welcome back! How have you been feeling playing again?

Is it possible to remove the laces out of the top eyelet to help with the forward flex of the ankle and add some ankle wraps like posted above?
