Anyone know if it is possible as a retail customer to get the 2s with a white leg channel and white knee/calf wrap?

Why? It soaks up sweat stains and dirt.

So it seems that I have been calling the plastic that holds the blades a "runner" which is wrong. Watching youtube reviews by shops informed me that the "runner" is in fact the blade itself. So with cowling-less skates now, what should I be calling the plastic part?

Also, I just realised that, maybe my issue with my X700s is the 3mm blade vs the 4mm blade which I was used to for so long. Could it be possible?

Just like player skates, the plastic part that holds the runner is called a holder

Thanks, will be a couple of months before am on the ice again.

Question to those that wear the Vapor pads, what are you using for knee pads ? Just wondering with small knee lock area, as I don't want to cut anything away until I have used the pads a couple of times. I currently have the CCM Pros so am just wondering.

I'm using G3 Seniors under hockey socks. No issues with rotation. I just picked up a set of 1x knee guards that I'm trying out this weekend. I also strap my knee elastic to the calf wing. If you run it behind your knee, your mileage may vary.

That's just kind of the look of the new Bauer products.

I remember being at a trade show last year for the 1X launch. I asked the Bauer rep if the 1X glove cuff was defective because it looked like the "skin" was either just hanging off or it was missing something underneath. (I've circled the area I'm talking about).

I'm sure the performance of them are fantastic, I just really can't get over the look of them. To me, they just look cheap.

Common "issue" issue with laceless pads. Optiks have it to some degree as did the SZ's. Only other option is to slather it with glue which will add weight. Also might be reducing the glue used in response to the yellowing issues on the 1s line.

  5. Does anyone else with the 1x blocker feel like the index finger protection is too bulky? The index finger sidewall keeps catching on the grip coating on my 1s stick so it never slides all the way up the shaft. I think a lot of it has to do with how the 1s stick has no weight in the blade to give it momentum. But it sure is annoying to have to do two movements to get my blacker hand all the way to the knob.

    Any ideas?

Yeah read and knew about that for between brands... just didn't expect same brand and (supposedly) same model line can still be so random in sizes. Gosh how hard is it to have the same real size with same size label. All these "technologies" about new goalie gears, and they can't even do a simple measurement ?

It's a pretty well known issue. The new sizing actually brings it more in-line with other rmanufacturers than before, so this is actually an attempt to correct the confusion, not cause new confusion.

So I was searching the web for good deals and came across new S190 can anyone tell me abt them? How was the durability the sliding etc

S190 was last generation's Senior model. They are built overseas if that matter's to you. It's basically the same design and as the previous generation pad, the Supreme One.9. They are not pro level pads, but also do not suffer the durability issues that the 1s often are associated with. They do not have CORTech. The sliding surface is jenpro so it will slide the same as any other jenpro covered pad released in the last 5-10 years. CRS strapping is better than leather, but I find it cumbersome in comparison to TuneFit from the 1X. Hard rebounds, but not the hardest.

This is from my email from my rep about the try it set:

    Some notes below:

    ·        These are meant to be demo’d on ice by consumers and advertise for guys that have White demo size runs
    ·        These come with “blank graphic” Supreme Catcher and Blocker
o   These were all built in OCT so we find them a little stiffer than the confirmed stock gloves shipping for launch (built Nov to April)
o   I’d advise if you are in the store- show your dealers that these break in much easier after 6min in a skate oven!

The glove breaks in amazing after 6 min in the oven as you could see if my fapping video!

@thebigm When you say break them in using a skate oven, what exactly is that process? Just bake it? Tie it closed and let it cool down? I have a 1x glove that refuses to break in with keeps33 and I'm desperate.

I already have a pair of Superfeet in another pair of skates that I don't use so its not as if I am buying them.  I was curious about the Speedplates since they're moldable but if they wouldn't be good for my arches then I won't bother.  Just looking to spruce up my skates a little.

I prefer Speedplates, personally, because I have arch issues that Superfeet can't correct. Superfeet are really intended to help with heel transfer, so if they work for you, then I'd say either Speedplates or Superfeet would be fine.

  10. Just got the email from GoalieMonkey with 2s line pricing.

    Biggest surprises were:

    • $749.99 pricing on the 2s skate (maybe @TheGoalNet had reported that already)
    • 2s Pro stick is $299.99 (I think we had all heard $350)
    • 2s stick is $199.99 so it slots in price wise with where the S190 used to be
    • 2s Legs alone are down to $1799.99 which is $100 less than 1x legs. I would expect a price drop on 1x to match

2s Pro sticks come in 5 colors as opposed to the 1s which had three colors unless you went MyBauer. I play for a green team so I'll either be buying a black through retail or waiting until the MyBauer customization is open for the 2s Pro to get green.

So if my feet are perfectly fine using the stock Bauer 7000 footbeds would I be better off using Superfeet(old yellow/new carbon) or the Speedplates?

Stock footbeds generally have low arches, so Superfeet would probably be fine. However, if you're not having trouble with your current insoles, I wouldn't replace them.

Seeking a recommendation from yins about Bauer goalie sticks.

Backstory: I've used wood/foam-core pretty much my whole life, save for one CCM Gatekeeper composite that broke after three skates. Oh, and one TotalOne I used in 2014. I actually liked the TotalOne, but found myself going right back to wood when the blade broke. I don't know if it's the illusion that they are more durable, or just personal preference. Anyways, the crux of my current issue is that almost all of my wood sticks get eaten alive by the ankle of the blade/bottom of the paddle. Doesn't take many skates for them to wear away on that area, and I'm kinda fed up with that (and the fiberglass splinters when I re-tape them).

Are the current generation of Bauer goalie sticks more durable than wood? I've heard tell that college teams force guys to use them so they have to buy significantly less sticks for the year. This, if true, is encouraging. I only have a few apprehensions, cost aside: one being that I use a custom stick, so the handle at the paddle is fairly unique in shape, and the curve is also a heel that has a slight mid/toe spot too. Two being paddle height, since every company has different heights. I don't even really know what mine is because I've used it for like three years. The only other thing that's keeping me away from composite is that I like the way wood deadens the puck, versus how it springs off of composite sticks. Also because I've used basically the same stick for three years and I'm afraid of change.

So my questions for you guys would be the pros and cons of experiences with Bauer composites, and a curve recommendation. I'm pretty anal with stick curves.

To address your heel splitting issue, before I wrap the full blade, I tape a strip on the bottom of the blade from the toe all the way up past the heel. I had the same problem as you when I played with foam core. I'm currently playing with a pair of 1s twigs and after taping the bottom and wrapping it normally, I can safely say I've had no issues with splitting or cracking on the heel. I'm fairly aggressive with the poke check (probably more than my team would prefer) and no issues thus far.

Getting back to my skates insoles, does anyone have experience with the Bauer Speed Plate insoles?

    image.png.ecb8c8956e78edbf5e67b3da169ff4fb.png

Use them. Love them. I was using superfeet for the longest time. I was having arch pain that would go away after about 30 minutes on the ice, so I would have to roll the sole of my foot before putting on my skates to loosen my arch up. I didn’t always have time to do that so I’d play with pain which was obviously distracting. Bought a set of these, baked them in my home oven, and they got rid of all my arch pain. Highly recommend them. Remember that superfeet are designed to help with heel issues not arch issues, so keep that in mind when comparing. CCM has some pre formed insoles with three different arch heights but I didn’t want to take a chance in getting the wrong height so I bought the moldable Bauer’s for the same price.

Tons of NCAA guys are. Sticks were not made available to the pros until January-ish. Many guys are still using NXG or R6000 sticks and the 2S is much lighter and stiffer. It will be a big change.

Im actually curious if this is why Warrior / @Kirk3190 is catching on so quickly. Maybe it’s less dramatic a design and more in line with what a pro would ask for?

That's an interesting thought. I assume that's why Bauer is going to offer a 2s without Ergo Spine and the 2s Pro with the Ergo Spine. You could essentially call the 2s a redressed 1s.

  16. 2 hours ago, TheGoalNet said:

Yes, the back of the paddle also has an engineered shape too. The paddle is very thin now and there is a 3D ridge on the back of it. I have held it and it's noticeable lighter than 1S

Pictures I've seen haven't been very helpful, but from what I gather there's basically a spine the same rough size and shape as a player stick through the length of the shaft and paddle. Paddle material is removed on the back so that you can actually see this spine. The front has the same ergo twist that the 1s has.

Does that sum it up pretty well?

    XL

Interesting that you went XL in Bauer and 36+1 in your Brian's. I've always read that Brian's runs larger. Does your knee land correctly on both?

I understand what you wrote. But for someone who has a major concern about matching and is willing to drop serious money to do so, padskins is an easy enough way to go about it.

And that set looks fine, you just seem overly picky.

To be fair, if I'm dropping $3,000 on a new custom set, I'm allowed to be picky. My current set is a pro return pickup that I didn't choose the colors on. My next set will be custom from the factory

Or you know, just the graphics as it's a hell of a lot less work, and doesn't impact any of the above.

I don't understand. I lamented the lack of a black base color option. That requires me to wrap the whole thing.

Regarding wrapping the graphics, it's difficult. The 'X' graphic on the 1X is very intricate and there's no stitching to trace, so you really only have the option of doing the whole 'X' at once which looks like this...

    Terrible.
