    Awesome.

What were your thoughts about the change and why did you go back?

I also assume you don't use a professor strap?

I added the Vapor professor strap and enjoy it better.

It’s to hard to say exactly how it felt. It worked enough, it could secure your leg in there but I felt like it wasn’t designed to be there, maybe that was more mental that physical.

Anyone ever added a Tune Fit + strap to an Ultrasonic pad?

Yes, it worked well enough. I ended up switching back.

Looks like the graphic was rubbed off by the wearer trying to clean puck marks away. The set has next to no marks for a graphic that faded

I believe the pads are second set received at Christmas. And he’s still using the original set gloves.

True does not offer a glove with no wrist strap, so that is not really a comparison? CCM made it available to their pro goalies and must switched.

Yes, small sample size, but validates that it's well received when promoted and well executed.

Most Bauer pros in Supreme use older glove models.

Fair I guess. But if the lack of a wrist strap was essential, the True guys would be wearing CCM.

As you said all the Bauer guys have the option of a glove without a wrist strap and choose gloves with one.

Most CCM 580 pro goalies are using the 580 with the Cross Form (no wrist strap). I don't think Bauer was wrong to remove the wrist strap. Better still be on the customizer.

I don’t think that sample size really says much in comparison to the True 580 users who use do use a wrist strap, with quite a few still using leather wrist straps.

Sure, but we haven't even seen the new glove in action at the NHL level. Even if they are masked as Mach's.

I say this is less shocking than the graphic considering the most used glove at the NHL level is the 2S based custom break. Heck, most guys haven’t adopted the cuff-less design of the Mach.

I feel like by now there's usually pros using the graphic since it will be coming out end of spring/early summer. Maybe Oettinger will use the graphics when he gets off ir

I feel like the previous mentality is changing, Where typically Bauer or whatever company would have their guys in the new graphic for the next Spring release. I think they want guys in the current line as close to release date to keep selling more Mach’s to the average consumer.

The Wild should just switch to the North Stars and end this bull crap already.

Dallas Stars can stay. Texas, stars, America plus they've been there 30 years now. Nobody is going to mix them up. Dallas should also switch to the same colors as the Cowboys too.

That was discussed. These are from a behind the scenes look where they took a look at both the Cowboys and Texans for inspiration.

Yes, it is the same for the one I have. Both arms and im guessing it's because of the rigid materials and how high they run. It's a high friction area and they should reinforce with some jenpro or at least some higher grade nylon.

I’m assuming it’s used because it’s light weight but it’s brutal. My unit has hockey pant material patched over it by an EQM.

So I finally managed to get my hands on one of these, used of course, and took it out for a ride tonight in my pickup game. Let me tell you, this is an absolute tank! It's built like nothing else out there honestly. The thickness of the padding and the amount of hardcore plastic involved. The arms alone are most impressive and most awkward at the same time. The arm unit itself, as where and how it attaches to the body is very mobile. Where the arms bend is more rigid, more restrained. I can't reach my head as well as in my 2S and I find that one a little difficult. The bottom flap was either removed or it was built like that, I couldn't tell you, but I like it that way as I tuck it in..

Although the floaters are sewn onto the shoulders as per NHL rules, which I like, it could be adjusted a tad more for my frame. It was sold to me as an XL, no tags to show for. I'm 6'2, near 200lbs, my Bauer 2S is an XL. The AB Pro sits a little lower than I wish, lower than the pic above, but then again, it automatically moves up when in my crouch or butterfly.

This thing is definitely built for the real pros. It's like the P1 got in bed with the Heaton H5, they both drank a 40oz of juice (steroids) and had a baby and voila, finished product. I can still feel the puck hit me as a vibration but in no way could I get hurt in this, I very much doubt it.

It being well used, it took half the game to kinda loosen up to a point where I wouldn't think about it much but I still noticed it in certain situations. It definitely needs some getting used to. I'm curious if the experience is the same with a brand new unit. Other than wear and tear and some foams/plastics warping a little, I can't see this thing breaking down and getting all mushy over time like off the rack models.

To you out there that has one or tried one for practice or game, do you feel the same in terms of impression and experience?

If CCM would put this out for the public, I'm sure a lot of people would jump on it, but I can also say it wouldn't necessarily be to everyone's liking.

It’s the material they use on the arms that is going to be the first thing to go for you.

From what we know, the Shadow is more or less just a Mach leg pad with the Ultrasonic stiffness profile. Would assume some guys would adopt that quickly. When I spoke to someone who knows a lot of behind the scene business decisions related to gear, he said that a lot of the companies are coming out with pretty safe revisions of their current gear as the new year's offerings.

He said it was related to covid and the fall in revenue. A lot of companies don't want to take risks at the moment.

Considering how the Hyperlite 2 was barely a change and how the Shadow is only a slight change, it seems to ring true a bit.

I wonder if it's slipping under the radar because it's not laden with ribbons and mottos?

I wouldn't be surprised consdering the guys running the NHL are kind of brain dead.

Maybe, it does have the Hockey Fights Cancer logo on the back plate.

Was that this year? Only thing I can find was for Nov 2022.

Bob’s been wearing this Purple Hockey Fights Cancer mask for the last couple games.

almost agree. gloves are always Supreme, but with pads it’s not so siwmple. I can assume that this is still Supreme in the Vapor skin with the harness and Vapor calf wrap(16).jpeg.c72f06f29c64621a8becca9f66b9e159.jpeg

but the chest is definitely Hyperlite. Vapor Hyperlite

The latest photos of him actually have him a true Hyperlite pad 2. After close to stock Mach last year.

    also using Pro CCM chest

I’ve also wondered about his pad leg channel strapping. Clearly custom, but looks after market. When Vasi wore the super open leg channel like this, it still looked like Bauer made it, these don’t.

Answering my own question. It does look like the calf set up comes from Bauer it’s just very custom.

Here is the response from my rep when I asked about binding.

"...the sidewall shape between ‘curved’ and ‘straight’ goes by the wayside when the goalie selects a binded face, which you have with the 585.  The sidewall shape of the 585 represents an older Lefevre design that sits somewhere in between the coverage you achieve with the ‘straight’, mixed a little with the articulation you get with the ‘curved’.  If you were to remove the binding on the face perimeter, you’d then have the option to select between the two designs."

In my opinion it is their best looking sidewall.

  17. 1 hour ago, seagoal said:

Is the binding on Grubauer's blocker a standard option in custom or is that a pro hookup?

    @Chenner29

Custom option you can order. Hellebuyck uses it as well. Interestingly enough it comes with its own sidewall shape not available on the bindingless blockers.

So are any NHLers wearing small manufacturer’s C/As anymore? Kenesky, Brown, Passau, other? Or is it all CCM, Bauer, Vaughn and what, one Brian’s?

There isn’t much room for variety in the streamline era. Kenesky seem to strike oil initally when the big brands were leaving guys bruised. That Kenesky run does seem to have ended, like you said CCM, Bauer, and Vaughn have been the go to units.

However, I think there would be more Brian’s in the league then you would think.
