Stiffer Thigh Rise Mod

Hello everyone!

Here's a mod I did to attempt to stiffen up the thigh rises on my Passau pads.

I've always wondered why the big companies didn't use carbon fiber panel more often in their product...But I've been greatly inspired by the innovation of Maxond Hockey.

So here's the gist of it: I used a 2mm carbon fiber panel, sandwiched it between the two layers of the core foam and laced them back up. I've also cut up the boot core foam to have a flexible boot, I feel that the stock Passau was way too stiff to my liking.

My only worry might be weight related. I roughly added 360 grams to each pad, the Carbon fiber plate goes from the bottom of the knee rolls all the way to the top of the pads.

Here's some video that compares the before and after stiffness:

I'll be trying them out tonight and see how it goes, wish me luck!

Cheers,

Michel

Nice work.  Do you have more pics and what specifically did you do to the boot and do you have before and after anything of that?

Thanks! So the whole internal core was "one piece" from top to bottom including the boot. It was really stiff and would stay at the same angle (left photo below). All i did was cut the whole boot off. Now the boot flexes way more and the pads sits lower on my leg as well.
