Didn’t really care for them. Maybe some of you did. The old DaFoe design should of stayed forgotten imo

Noooo! That's on the top of my list of designs I'd consider on a Bauer setup.

I don’t think that sample size really says much in comparison to the True 580 users who use do use a wrist strap, with quite a few still using leather wrist straps.

True does not offer a glove with no wrist strap, so that is not really a comparison? CCM made it available to their pro goalies and must switched.

Yes, small sample size, but validates that it's well received when promoted and well executed.

Most Bauer pros in Supreme use older glove models.

This line is no revolution it seems like.

Supreme is the goal line that checks all my boxes for gear, likely upgrading my Mach to shadow. Still torn on the glove wrist strap however, I do not have one on my mach and it feels great, and I have trouble seeing why bauer would add it back when Supreme is in all honesty pretty much a custom only line at this point.

Most CCM 580 pro goalies are using the 580 with the Cross Form (no wrist strap). I don't think Bauer was wrong to remove the wrist strap. Better still be on the customizer.

I'm rocking M5 pads and blocker right now but just sold my Mach glove due to the fact that i just couldn't get comfortable with it and didn't like the break and how i had to close it with more fingertips. I'm surprised to hear the M5 not  doing well they are pretty stiff and I'm not the most flexible but I've never had an issue with them being stiffer. The only downside is that they are kind of heavier/ clunkier feeling since the shin area is thicker than the vapor. I'm intrigued with the Vapor line just because its so popular but i was worried about the rebounds not being a hot as the supreme so I went M5. I also don't know about the vapor blocker since it sits higher up on the hand and the rebounds aren't as hot, from what i was told. I do like the feel of the glove and probably going to pick up a Vapor90 to try.

You bought good gear. The "lack" of sales is just due to lack of education, people being scared to take a risk, etc

I'm sure you could argue that being comfortable in your gear is a pretty functional reason.

We know that Bauer pads have a very 'boxy' feeling to them, especially with the inclusion of stabiliflex/stabilislide. Some guys may just never gel with that feeling.

Hell, functionally I like the idea of a calf bracket that was introduced with the Mach line. In practice it wasn't my favourite.

Yes, that's what I mean. Feel / being comfortable matters. If you're not comfortable, you won't play well.

For better context, I can explain the technical advantage of the calf pillows standard on lots of pads. I can't explain the technical benefit of more torsional flex than a Vapor.

M5's are still as stiff as an Ultrasonic pad which is still in the "too stiff" category for a lot of consumers. Couple that in with the Vapour gloves both being more popular than the Supreme versions at retail and people wanting a matching set, it's no big surprise that Vapour still comes out on top.

This is my own thoughts, so not really based on any tangibles, but, I have this feeling that users looking for a stiffer pad in general are more likely to get a Pro level pad as they start to trend into the less "casual" side of the playing sphere (if that makes sense). The only guys I've seen rocking Mach or Ultrasonic gear at the multiple leagues around here have always been "better" goalies. Same with Px9 gear now that I think about it.

Not saying that owning Ultrasonic pads makes you a good goalie (yes I am), but, It's just an anecdotal trend I've seen.

A common comment I see about guys going from a softer pad (eflex/velocity) and going into a Vapour pad is how stiff it is. The lack of torsional flex throughout the majority of a pad, even for Bauer's soft line, always throws people off the first time they try it out. It can be a make or break feeling for some guys.

I get needing a "feel", but I can't think of a functional reason why anyone needs more torsional flex than Vapor

  7. In speaking with Bauer, it's pretty skewed that retail customers like the Vapor line

    1. Glove - 590 style break is the most comfortable for most people. Supreme gloves tend to do better with large goalies or goalies with bigger hands

2.Stiffness - Stiffness scares people and Vapor is as flexible as they come, without compromising the shape

    3. Weight - Lighter things do better at retail and Vapor pads are noticeably lighter

FWIW, I think if more people tried Supreme with an open mind, they would like it better. The less athletic you are or athletic saves (Jonny Quick style) you're making, the less the need for the vapor flex. However, if you are flying blind and dropping $3,000... I completely get Vapor feeling like the safer choice.

One of these days we'll bully convince him to use Warrior gear.

But you're in Bauer now... you've seen the light? Why do you want me to go where you gave up? (if this were the 90s, there's endless jokes to be made there)

I have informal partnerships with Bauer and CCM. I don't get paid and but they usually set test sets.

Warrior and True have sent me stuff intermittently. Warrior has only sent sticks in the past.

I am down to try to new stuff... but there's also a balancing act:

    1. What reviews get the most views, interest, etc

    2. What gear do I enjoy wearing on the ice most?

    3. How much bandwidth do I have to create additional content?

Forgetting about his Howard V6 C/A already?

    Shame.

That was like 7 years ago... There was a Howard glove too. That V6 chesty, once modded, was legit

Now Ron owns Apex goalie mask company

    Yes

I have no specific insider info on this one... but my understanding is that he had a business backer (money guy) for Coveted. The business relationship went south. He started Apex with more control over the company itself.

Believe this is all similar stories to Wall -> Victory -> Savior

    This right here 👆

I was wearing the most recent 960 up until a little while ago. To The Goal Net's point, profile shapes are different from the NME ones (960/950 vs 940/930), but for what it's worth, I have an approx. 59cm head and was wearing a medium 960. A large had way to much side to side slop for my head. I have a generally narrow face, and the temples/cheeks were perfectly snug in the medium, while there was a slight backplate gap (barely there). For retail masks, I moved over to the CCM Axis Pro (not the XF) and had to size up to a large given the fluid inside pods, that took up more padding space.

Now, I'm just some random guy on the internet, but the photos above look very close. I can't see how your forehead is resting against the front padding, but if it's snug up front, and along the temples, then I would probably stick with the medium. Play around with the backplate adjustments to get the fit all dialed in to what's comfortable.

I had that mask too. I was previously in a CCM M in the GFL Pro and went to an L in the Axis pro.

Originally saw him after his collaboration with DKMobility guy.

A lot of his videos feels like he's purposefully making the gloves he works on look like they don't close in the before shots.

I always felt the same about Factory Mad, I love Dennis, but I couldn't image some of the gloves closed as badly as presented

I assumed that was just creative license for the video

Yeah maybe. I just don't remember why I had a natural colored one. I've never seen an other Koho like this after but damn I've tried. Heaton sticks were unpainted but they were breaking way too fast.

I had the Helite IV (black Broduer) and the Helite V (fibers exposed Snow) and I think the Helite V was more durable for me.

That would be the new 940, right?

I can't find a 940 large to try to compare. It might feel more comfortable but the temples and/or cheeks might wobble more.

This is my 3rd mask ever over the years and given my last one is a Reidic where I can heat mold the foam, the tightness of the 940 feels a little much but again, how can I compare 🙄

between Fit 1,2,3 in NME shape and Profile S, M, L Bauer has 6 sizes. I would be 1 of them fits you. Maybe see if you can try on 950 somewhere?
