Yeah I would find that bothersome and it's been one fluke occurrence in ever
I don't think anyone is wrong for wanting that? Design is heavily biased on what I like and I what I think the 80% of goalies need. Just sharing the background a questions pop up.
If lots of people ask for the same thing, it could be included in a future iteration.- 2

I bought my kid a Vaughn (V9?) one recently and saw that there was a small inner thigh padding.
I remember I have gotten hit there once on a scramble and it hurt like a B.
Yes, I have seen them on the market. I personally hate excess things on the base layers. Trying to find balance between hit there more than 1 time every 3 years and closing gaps in equipment.

A quick question - Will Aegis be selling supplemental D30 pads? For example, I'd like to have protection for both biceps. Thank you.
D3O is super strict about how their product is sold. With that said, email their customer support, mention I suggested you email them, and maybe they can send you extra piece? It's a small family owned business, so maybe they can help out?

That's the Tuuk that 'reacts' to skating style, right? Hard to have guys in the NHL switch to something that flexes or whatever while skating. I'll look for it at youth levels first then these kids will eventually carry it onto the NHL.
The new helmet is better than the 1. Again, hard to have NHL guys (creatures of comfort) change up their stuff. Same with youth carrying it into higher levels.
My kids' teams mostly use the Bauer 150 helmet as they do team orders. The under $200 price for that helmet is a welcome addition to the nearly $1000 annual uniform cost per kid. The Hyperlite is closer to $400 I think.
Agree on the Tuuk, but unfortunately, optics will be that it's a gimmick if pros don't switch?
New pros adapt way more to new technology than the previous generation of pros. I am with you that the Tuuks might be a wild change and "better" might be too "different", but the helmet makes no sense?
I feel like your average pro adapts to the never helmet cycles? -
I think Matthews has actually switched though... too lazy to look deeper
I see like no pros in the new Bauer PowerFly tuuk holder or Hyperlite 2 helmet. Both of those topics interest me for player gear.- 1

I’m just playin lol. I’ve seen it a few times but when a top guy does something it turns heads
I feel like more people in the show use Tuuks than CCM holders on CCM boots? I feel like only the CCM athletes use the CCM holder, haha... in that spirit, it's noteworthy that Mackinnon is

If the 3D liner is made properly it can very closely mimic the performance of D3O while being lighter and much more breathable.
They could exceed it, but the question is... what did they do?
There is a balance between weight, breathability, comfort, and protection. It's impossible to get a 10/10 in all considerations. So if they go for 10s in breathability and comfort, I would expect the protection to be less than it could / should be. That's exactly what I think happened on the player helmets. TBH, not sure that many skaters care if they are using a widowmaker these days...

I see, especially with the way the shin looks in your screenshot - sort of rounded out/flattened. I think the Armadillas were a little bulbous in the crown and in the cage itself. These seem a little more streamlined from the forehead up.

Yes, I saw that shell at first too. That helmet looked like a goofy Itech though too, haha
but this angle dilla vibes? -

Curious what everyone thinks of the Nest-Tech lining in the XF model?
I am curious... My day job is in industrial 3D printing. I could be considered a subject matter expert on this subject.
industrial 3D printing (not the FDM desktop printer at the local library) applied correctly will produce a better product. CCM's player helmet was designed to be breathable and comfortable, but it got a 1 star on VT ratings. I am hoping the goalie team put safety first on their needs list with this iteration. -
Anyone see Armadilla in this mask?

Is the bottom base layer compression? Definitely going to order the top, but compression pants (Bauer Core) have made a huge difference for my hip health and I don't want to lose that support.
yes, it's compression, but I would call it a medium compression? It hugs the body, but it's not crazy tight some of the UA products I have worn in the past that are basically a second skin. It's also not baggy or loose fitting.

It's not a secret and we appreciate you sharing your work... Please put a note in your profile that you work for Savior masks? Would help add some clarity to the posts about who is doing the work and maybe help give you some new inquiries

Profiling is a blind spot for me, would love to hear an experts opinion
My gut says that just repetitions will get you over the hurdle? If you have the opportunity to go a pick up game or stick and puck, I think that would help a ton? You can mess around without worrying about the scoreboard behind you

I have both pulse ti and Tydan gold (which is the same as the black just gold) they both hold an edge extremely well, the Tydan is a little taller and it is a little bit of a harder steel than the pulse ti. I just rotate them when they get dull have two sharp while two are getting sharpened.
Steel is a big blind spot for me. As stated above, should have gotten into this earlier.
When you say harder? What's the benefit, it'll hold an edge longer? -
for anyone ordering, please share pics, questions, thoughts, etc when your product arrives.

No worries, was mostly curious. Maybe when I get my newer pants in the inner-thigh shots will be less of a concern as they were few and far between anyway (maybe like once an adult league season, playing 3-4 times a week). They were often freak shots, but did hurt.
everyone plays different and don't mean to sound critical, always sensitive with these situation... but I have never been hit there and that's why I have always been surprised with padding there? So if you had a use case, like an RVH technique or something, very interested to learn

Do you work for Aegis or directly with?
The lack of the pads in the inner thigh on the pants is something that would make me apprehensive to purchase. The rest of the leg unit looks really good (especially the knees and cut resistant area), I stopped wearing socks once I started wearing a full length underlayer.
Independent consultant and field tester, not an employee.
Same answer as the sock velcro. We had a budget and a deadline. Unfortunately, you can't include everything.
Sock Velcro was a known a pending "concern" among potential buyers, this one I am more surprised about. We did talk about this feature, but didn't want to add too much bulk for a niche feature too. How often are you getting hit where the shot goes through the pants and hits the base layer?- 1

I got the Bauer Pulse Ti. I paid for them, not sent as a demo. Literally blown away how much less I have to sharpen them compared with Bauer black steel. One of those changes I wish I did sooner.

Yeah the pants not having a sock tab is a non-starter for me unfortunately.
As stated above, completely understand
There's some deadlines to hit, price points to consider, etc.
Our assumption was that 50/50 of goalies who wear socks. So for iteration 1, we wanted to stick our timeline and budget and so we cut the sock tab from the product. -

Judging by how few changes G7 has I'm fully expecting this to be the year they jump back in. G7 looks like the most effort warrior has ever put into a graphic (since they were designed by pete smith) to make their equipment visually appealing.
All they need now is the right guy to debut their gear. The only person that potentially comes to mind is Toronto Matt Murray. He's a pretty big name, hasn't been playing all that great so he may be looking for a change, and he's not fully committed to another brand.
More than likely they'll have to do what sherwood did with bedard and simply buy someone.
Is Smith still involved?
Warrior has stick deals in the NHL. It's one of the reasons so many Vaughn, True, Brian's goalies use their sticks. I would expect a Warrior stick user to make sense as Warrior already has an in with the client and the agent?Something like Mrazek or Delia previously mentioned makes sense? Murray on LTIR and a Bauer stick guy does not make sense? Raanta is in a gear changing mode, a Warrior stick guy, and maybe could be a target?
