  1. For those of you with pants with an inner belt and do the tuck, what’s your setup?

last night, I tried tuck, fighting strap, and not anchored in the front. Prior to these pants, I did fighting strap in the back and anchor in the front with no inner belt

Wow, I didn't realize he'd left Bauer and why is there a Kraken color on his glove?

you might want it to be Kraken colors, haha, but my guess is that it's just a reflection and that zone is silver to match the rest of his set

    Mostly because FastGlide is dogshit

Every pad I've had since them has gotten progressively better.  I really enjoyed 20.2 and love my PX3.  I don't know how much "cool stuff" I would want on my gear anymore.

Rebounds skyrocketing off Bauer pads break up plays. For me, it's the biggest benefit of new tech on gear and I have yet to see anyone close to Bauer.

IIRC Lefevre owns the rights to that shell shape. CCM had to make a new one that was unique from their previous designs. CCM may have missed the mark since Lefevre left but they're certainly getting closer with each try. Lefevre on the other hand is simply stationary. Zero innovation and very minimal changes (sorry True fans a thin composite thigh rise isn't something new to the industry).

Huge props to CCM for going out of their way to innovate and try and push other brands to do so as well. As TGN has said before the glove is the only piece of equipment remaining that hasn't had a complete design overhaul

I did very much have this opinion of True / Lefevre post CCM split. I tried 20.1 for a couple skates, borrowed a set from @Chenner29 and was quite disappointed.

With that said, True is not really being first to market with any gear innovation either... but Px was one of the most surprising sets of pads that I have tried. It doesn't have the tech of some of the other gear, but there's also almost nothing to complain about.

Got another skate in. Another busy night, but again I feel like I ran hot up top, will have to continue evaluating that. I tried the three layer lowers and actually did not have a problem there. I did have my knee pads slightly off this time though, wish the D3O was a bit more anchored, might just be that I would prefer non-removable, though I see the downsides to that.

D30 won't allow that. There is a concern that detergent, water, and heat will degrade the padding prematurely.

My theory has been confirmed. CCM is putting their focus primarily on younger professional goalies.

I would call this this the Bauer playbook, haha

IMO it seems like CCM is looking at post Lefevre as a reboot like Bauer did with OD1N.

Bauer did a great job at getting their OD1N gear in the CHL, NCAA, and then had just a couple pros to start? Like Hank, Freddy, and Reimer. They recruited younger goalies like Vasi, Oettinger, Knight, Ullmark, and Sorokin. Overtime obviously, those guys have risen to be the top goalies in the league and everyone has seen them wearing the gear during their rise.

In my CCM analogy, Demko and Markstrom are the steady guys like Lundqvist. Now they are building out their young guys with Wolf, Levi, Skinner, and the NCAA / CHL guys.

Any wear spots ever show up on your ss Axis 2s? I don't remember it being an issue on my EF5s but worth asking.

A few small ones, but nothing outside of normal

Looks like no speedskin on the sliding surface. Probably too good to be true

Spoiler alert from my pending review... I find EF6 weave slides worse than my Axis 2 SS. True weave slides just fine just fine for me.

My takeaways? It's the orchestra of the internal foams, shapes, and the outer material than define how well a pad slides... But weave can work "good enough". Curious if CCM "fixes" their slide in this generation.

FWIW, I have not seen much change in speed since Bauer / Brian's / Vaughn did OD1N and Primo. Someone at the tops needs to innovate again and CCM has had plenty of time to catch up.

If we are being realistic, how many designs can come out of straight lines on pads?

This is where I’m at. There’s a general consensus of what looks good. People are in the business to sell gear.

We fillet “bad graphics” and so it narrows the pool of new ideas. So lots of things are a trend and graphics look similar.

Spoke to Bauer about this previously and it will have a more traditional construction on the backside - so there will be a wrist strap, unlike Mach.

Can confirm this too. I tried to get Mach internals on a 90 and it was a no go.

Is the 90 degree L shaped break new for Bauer as of this year?  I can't recall Vaughn ever making one.

Been available at pro since OD1N was new? First time available at retail. Custom only right now.

And that was part of my reasoning too. It would feel to premature for them to full on change a glove offering when their two current options are very popular at both retail and in pro hockey.

I can see it happening eventually, but after less than a year feels hasty.

And that ties in to my thought process as well. How much of this surge of everyone wanting a 90 degree break is due to actual function over just hype?

In a couple years after every brand has their own version and everyone has gotten over the "shiny new toy" aspect (which is ironic), how many people are going to stick with it and not go back to what they're used to?

Exactly, I joked with CCM that 600 is going on a run

Trav says a lot of things.

I can't imagine that Bauer has enough consistent sales data on the vapour 90 at the custom level to determine to abandon their other two gloves.

I saw a shadow prototype, it was NOT a 90. However, I don't know how final it was or what it was really.

To my knowledge, Vapor break is #1 seller at retail. Supreme break is #1 use at pro. Theory is that Supreme does not do as well at retail because the goalies are typically smaller than pro goalies and that break suits larger hands more.

I hate the 600 / T5500 break and somehow Mach is definitively my favorite break. The subtle tweaks from US to Mach was a game changer for me.

With that said, if they change something at Retail... Supreme = 90, Vapor stays the same, and Supreme becomes the "cool" custom only option?

FWIW, I love a 90... but I think some of the hype around it is the scarcity. If Supreme becomes custom only, pros stick with it, then I predict that will become "hot" for custom orders. People want what the pros have and they can't get at retail.

That graghic looks great, but I kinda wish they would have kept name as mach like they did with hyperlite.

I have seen and touched a Shadow sample, but have not gotten the tech break down. Not sure how much is new yet?

One thing Bauer said to me regarding the HL2 name was to reflect that HL2 was a moderate evolution of Hyperlite. That ties into the marketing popularity, but makes me wonder if Shadow will have more new technology.
