V2-V4 were big for that. I think they started to address it around the V5 mark.

I have used Velocity, Epic, V3, 7990 & my current Vaughn pro custom glove based off a V5 or 6. The worst of these by far was my Epic. One thing about it though, there was never the worry that the puck would drop out if you caught it.
Definitely before my time. By the time I really cared about gear, I think the v6 were new

Hello all,
I am getting my first ever custom set of pads, and I'm looking to order within these next upcoming weeks. I'm seeking help with what specs I should get based on my play style and preferences. I'm on the shorter side (5'6") but still growing. I play a very athletic style. Right now this is what I'm thinking about going with.
I currently wear a size medium intermediate bauer pad, which is listed as 31+1, I'm thinking I should go with a 33+1.5.
Stock knee strap, mid knee (I wear the strap behind my knee.)
Stock boot strap through skate (I wear the bootstrap going through the back hole)
Standard toe bar with skate lace (planning on putting in Pro Laces)
Single break (undecided on what stiffness I should choose for the boot/thigh. Not sure what is the best for my style.)
I'm also thinking of going with a tapered toe (but what are the benefits?)
Thanks in advance.
Edit: If there are different specs that you guys think would be good, let me know please.
How flexible are your hips? Do you have a wide butterfly? If so you can use stiffer pads if you want. I have very flexible hips and use a softer pad out of preference like Korpisalo and Quick. Soldier pads help with 5 hole seal.

The documented Bauer quality issues were specifically not with the internals though, it was externals on 1S/1X. I'm not asking this to be a jerk, but where are you reading anything about the internals breaking down that isn't just random online comments?
Like coop said, I have specifically heard of Vaughn pads breaking down in various different fashions, especially being some of the softest of the big brands. But I don't want to just parrot that there's nothing wrong with Bauer internals, genuinely interested if there's been internal breakdown issues.
Not offended at all! My goalie partner last year had Bauer 1s pads and gloves. Both pads were broken where a typical single break pad has it’s one outer break. They would bend like crazy because the internals broke. Also, his glove was broken inside because there was a bump from foam and plastic sticking up. Also @coopaloop1234 What models were the boot settling and finger curling happening on? I think they actually were before my time lol

Do you guys think it is worth getting the stiff thigh rise option over the stock, even though it says it will add weight? The only reason I would want it is because the thigh rise on my 2x has broken down so quickly.
Bauer has been known to have some quality issues like breaking down quickly. I have never heard of a Vaughn pad breaking down

Would it be fair to say the Gould has specific things to set them apart from PAW? Of course Sara gives you a myriad of options. She makes solid gear.
You can get one or two piece cuff, 4 different inner glove materials for different types of grip, 3 types of coloring material (Jenpro, weave, and matte), intermediate palm or pro, game ready or extra padding palm, skate lace or regular lace pocket, double or single tee, custom text and much more. Here are some more pics...

Nice
Is there any benefit to ordering directly from Gould vs PAW? I believe Sara builds the gear?
I ordered through Gould because I know Stu and had held his gloves in my hands. When I get out of school I can post more pics. The back of the glove has a ‘powered by paw’ logo. The only difference is going through Gould means it will have his name on it. Going through Sara will say Paw on the gear

The glove looks like it is still a 75 (600) degree closure. Looks like the 1s glove

How stiff is the neck on the new one?

Stomping on my Bauer composite stick after a rough game a few weeks ago. It was my backup stick but now I have a foam core as my backup so my V1 Pro better last...

We've had a video forum for a long time. Several people post to it.
Do you know what its called?

We should get a “show off your action VIDEOS” forum going so we get to see these setups in action all in one place

Adding to the new mask announcements got my OTNY Combo from goalieparts.com and I’m super happy with it.
The sides need a bit more padding so Dan from GP is sending some. Back to front fit is perfect and the shell feels way stronger than my other masks (Bauer NME 4 didn’t know it was so unsafe, Sportsmask Mage RS I got used).
This site likely saved me from a bad day with all the mask info so thanks to all of you!Shitty question here but why did they give you a red mask bag? Its sick and I want it. Mine from them is black
