I agree. The pad designer must have been on drugs when he created the graphics.

Graphics are fine.  They remind me of Voltron for some reason.  Regardless, it is nice to have something that looks the same on every piece of gear.  Just flip the damn B* logo, Brian's!  Please don't turn into Vaughn.

All of True's name come from successful golf shafts.

    Project X, Hazardous, etc

If they come out with a Dynamic Gold, I will buy it out of respect.

I see.  Idk shit about golf gear.

No, Vorhees, NJ. The Flyers practice at the Vorhees rink. They sold all the other 'Flyers Skatezone' rinks (AC, Pennsauken and NE Philly) to the Black Bear group. The Vorhees rink was renamed the 'Flyers Training Center'. But we all still call it Skatezone Vorhees.

AC rink is a turd. A few years ago it looked abandoned (like the baseball stadium next to it). I think it hadn't been maintained since it opened in the 90s. It was bad. Recently, there have been some minor work done to it. Still a dump. They have a youth program that's good but not overflowing with players. There are some HS and college teams that play there too.

I hate going there. You didn't miss anything by not going into it. Although the area around it is a hood.

Atlantic City, NJ, Skate Zone to Remain Open Through April 2023

The city took over the AC rink. The parking lot is used by the GM dealership across the street. Thus the lot is half full of nice cars. But they are all from the dealership.

    The baseball stadium next door...

Although this is older picture - the lights got so rusty that they fell down. Rink is the building in right field. There is an abandoned airport beyond CF and LF (Bader Field)

Played at the Pennsauken rink last year.  What a dump.

  5. @Chenner29 and @chile57 pretty much covered everything.  His website isn't the best to be honest so you were definitely better off asking for confirmation.

    • There other color options for the cage but they do cost extra.
      • Be forewarned that if you do go with a Tricat cage you're pretty much locked into that cage going forward due to the location of the holes that are drilled into the shell for the cage clips.  I was able to get a double wide flat bar, similar to a Sportsmask cage, but he doesn't always have them.  I needed a new cage a few months ago and he couldn't get any flat bars.
    • Chenner had a "?" for triangular holes, he will do it, I have them on mine.
    • Foam is just his tan foam.  He doesn't offer the Croc foam anymore.  His foam is amazing though.  So soft, supple, comfortable, and it doesn't get hard over time.

I have never worn one of his newer Vision/960 masks so I cannot speak to the difference in fit.  However, my mask is a 2010/2011ish shell so I assume that is the original shell.  I don't remember which year he became affiliated with Vaughn and introduced the new shell.  The fit is very close to the cage, I love it.  Way better fit than my Harrison shell Protechsport mask.  it always bugged me that my face sat further back from the cage in that mask.

It's weird and absolutely amazing. Congrats and welcome to the club.

Also, nab as much baby formula as possible from the hospital before you guys check out. Also, the hospital binkie things are far superior. Get a bunch!

    @coopaloop1234 and diapers.  Congrats!!!!!!

It's netminder. Who knows what he actually meant

Alright alright.  He asked a valid question.  Let's not get out of line and assume he meant something different.  Its fine when you guys are all chirping each other in the moment but there is no need for comments like this.

Had both hips replaced Feb 11. Got the call Monday to come in Friday. Short notice but had new orthopedic surgeon in town and when he gets a slot, then I go!

Anterior approach. If you have any choice go for the anterior (front).

    https://www.pbs.org/video/latest-procedure-latest-procedure-anterior-total-hip-replacement-surgery/

Awesome video above explains how and why better.

Woke up from surgery with ZERO pain. Nurses kept saying hit the button stay ahead of the pain. I said I have NO PAIN. After a couple of years of constant pain was wonderful.

Was standing by bed that night. Walking with walker next day, had me do some physio test and show if I can get in/out of bed and up/down stairs, and then they kicked me out!

Used walker for a week, then crutches for 2 inside then cane for 4 more. I used the crutches outside for 4 weeks as they said they wanted to slow me down, and with all the snow and ice, slipping and falling would be the worst thing I could do to impact my recovery.

(Bonus sidebar , my dad was a goalie too, and his "claim to fame" was he was backup goalie to Glenn Hall back in Humboldt, SK, when he was a teenager. Dad went on to be a politician and bureaucrat, while Glen went on to something bigger in the hockey world. Something called the NHL. Not sure if you have heard of it... 🙂)

Have been doing physio and my daily exercises since. I run our summer hockey group (my son is playing goal for me, 3rd generation goalie) and so I have been out skating for 10 minutes or so before each weekly summer game. Hopefully putting on pads soon and doing some drops. Not trying to rush things as don't want to screw things up.

As you do exercises, if there is one thing that I think is really good it is using sliders. I found some on sale before surgery for $10 (I think they were $40 regular) in a clearance bin and thought maybe they might be handy. Then the physiotherapist wanted to add this. This is what I found.

    Slidez | agility-sports (agilitysportstt.com)

Ridiculous that they say $250 online. Look around and you can find MUCH cheaper.

When you slide on a carpet it is the closest to actual front, side and 45 degree skating push. And you can really get into it and push hard without being on ice. Best simulation to skating I have found off ice.

Anyway, hope to get back between the pipe this upcoming season.

  9. @Lucky Pucker you'll be happy to hear that my beer consumption has started to uptick again.  I have a few Tree Houses in stock.  Other than that its been mostly Montauk Brewing Wave Chaser IPAs and some Allagash Belgian Whites.

I may or may not make a habit of finishing my water bottle a couple feet in front of my crease prior to shootouts.   Not my fault if I'm drinking it quickly and it gets everywhere...

I always shove all of my snow shavings into the back of the net.  Somehow they all end up in the slot right before shootouts.  Its the strangest thing.

For the record, you have to bake these skates to try them on properly and retailers are permitted to bake them for customers without purchase. If you do not bake them they will feel just plain awful.

I assume that means there are no baking restrictions on these then?  Most skates these days are, what, only 3-4 bakes recommended?
