  1. Dude's like what the hell is this thing on my hand that actually closes?
  2. I managed to remove the 20.2's but somehow ended up with a custom px3 order instead. Blacked out in a haze of goalie gear euphoria, woke up, and this was the result @Chenner29 @Toobs
  3. I fully support all biases based on personal preference and the urge to judge others who think differently than me. However, I ALSO support the right of anyone (me) to immediately reverse my opinions should I ever decide to switch brands so I can justify the stupid amount of money I've just spent on something I didn't even remotely need. This is the way.
  4. My Lefevre experience is pretty limited - owned and loved a Koho 590 years ago, but other than that I only just got into CCM gear this year and recently bought a set of True gloves. My limited experience has only been positive, but I get why it's not everyone's thing. Especially non pro gear like the 2.9's you had...seems like there's a pretty big drop off in their senior/non custom gear, especially their gloves.
  5. Did you have a bad Lefevre experience that scarred you? (genuinely asking).
  6. Completely agree, very similar to skates in this aspect.
  7. PXL_20240125_061231310.TS.mp4 True 20.2 game ready 590, delivered on Jan 9th, used for 7 games/skates so far. I get that true and CCM may be a little stiffer off the shelf than some other brands but my experience has been it's really not that tough to get them dialed in pretty quickly
  8. Who knows, he may be wrong about the timing. Or he may have meant that's when they'll be able to ship mine. I guess we shall find out. Have you heard any news or seen any products?
  9. I recently watched his video where he was taking Wedgewood's px3's for a twirl, and believe me, his pads were not square when he was in his stance and doing t-pushes. I've noticed this in his regular True's as well, often being able to see large portions of his knee when he's in his stance. But when he drops into butterfly, they rotate back properly which is the most important thing, and so maybe he just doesn't view it as a problem. For me personally, I get less under rotation when I strap across the knee and down the calf, so that's another thing you could try, @pfeiffjay54 . In addition to all the other suggestions mentioned above. And as you mentioned, it's a pretty blurry pic so it's a little tough to see what's actually going on! haha.
  10. Thanks for linking these - and good timing for this thread to be resurrected. I was just on the phone with CCM warranty for a claim I have in which I'm waiting for the Axis XF glove, and they confirmed the release date for this line is now the first week of March. Previously I was told February sometime. I wouldn't say I'm holding my breath on the glove being awesome, but it does look like they may have fixed the thumb/pocket angle that was causing problems on their 581/591 so maybe I'm cautiously optimistic?
  11. Good to know. I'll try to find some domestics in store and compare them. And I'll try to remove the 20.2's I've currently got in my online cart, haha.
  12. That's interesting I hadn't heard that before, that there were tangible differences. Is there something specific in the off-shores that they don't do as well or just an overall feel?
  13. Yup that makes sense. It was likely just a perception thing on my part due to them being slightly different style of pad. The 20.2 is tempting me because there's some good sales right now and I literally bought my Eflex 6's a few months ago, haha. We don't all get the employee discount!
  14. Length from ankle break. The px3 (actually 9x3 was what I had in front of me) boot looked/felt shorter. But you guys would know better, just an impression I got.
  15. Compared to the 20.2. I've tried on both and the px3 seemed to have a shorter boot, and sat a little differently on the skate but maybe I was just imagining that.
  16. Thanks guys, appreciate the info. In addition to the newer composite internals, does the px3 have a shorter boot as well?
  17. Other than the thinned out thigh rise and the knee rolls, they're pretty similar aren't they? Have you tried both the px3s and the 20.2s?
  18. As someone that's spent most of their life in Vaughns (ending with the V7s), but then wanted to move to a stiffer pad and is currently in a pair of Eflex 6 max rebound, I've now got a taste for it and am interested in going even further in that direction. I love the ccms but they do sometimes have more torsional flex than I'd like. I'm considering a pair of 20.2s and wondered if anyone has gone through a similar progression of pads and what they liked or didn't liked going from Eflex to True. Appreciate any feedback!
  19. The eflex was my first 580 experience so I can't compare my experience to the originals but good to know the True felt better, maybe I'll give it a try at some point. I used a Koho/Lefevre 590 for a bunch of years before the Vaughn V9 XP (590-ish), so the True is a return to more of what I'm used to. I have to say though, in terms of feel and build, the eflex 6 580 feels closer to the construction of the Koho than the L20.2 does. The L20.2 feels lighter, more nimble and more modern than the CCM (again, I'm just talking build quality). What did you not like about the Axis?
  20. I tried! I really did. And there's some aspects of the 580 I really love, like when you snag one it feels fantastic the way it snaps shut and swallows up the puck No pop outs with that thing. My challenge was I never got completely comfortable with where the pocket was in space, and because of its size and shape it feels longer and a bit cumbersome and I've realized I'm less athletic with my glove when I'm using it as opposed to a 590. I think the 590 just fits my hand better. Even just breaking in the True this evening (it only arrived today at noon), it already feels like old familiar.
  21. The Hockey Shop Boxing Week sale got to me (L20.2). I'm going back to a 590 after enjoying my eflex 6 580 but just never feeling fully comfortable.
  22. Bag over right shoulder, pad skate lace toe ties tied together without much slack and carried in left hand, stick in right hand. This eliminates the choking, haha. My goalie bad is a pretty compact True...more tall than long. Easier to carry and manoeuvre through doors etc.
  23. Personally I've never understood the desire to put my pads into a giant bag, and I aways gravitate to something smaller and more compact. For me it makes carrying everything easier when you have the bag properly filled out and your gear not sloshing around inside, if that makes sense. Here's what I use: TRUE PRO SENIOR GOALIE BAG – Pro Hockey Life
  24. Nice, that's been my experience as well. Almost no adjustment period which kind of shocked me! So far I haven't had any issues with the arm connections, and I actually added additional velcro on the straps so that I could cinch them up even higher. I prefer the arms to be on the shorter side. So far so good.
  25. Quick update after 6 or so skates in the Hyperlite 2 chest - took my first heater off the shoulder last night while in the VH position, with no issues. I definitely felt it, but it was one of those satisfying "yup that was a solid impact but didn't hurt", feelings. Mobility is really good with zero mask interference and controlling and cradling gut shots works well. I've take a couple hard shots off the arms as well and protection has been fine. I'm including a pic of the 2010 Vaughn Epic chest I've been wearing forever for reference. Anyway, quite pleased with this beauty this far. Any questions feel free to ask. @coopaloop1234 how's the Mach?
