I'd love to rock a new old sized T4000 glove. White with a nash palm. Considering that I'm still wearing V1 pads and use a V1 blocker, I really can't go back much further.
Maybe a new composite version of some Hextall Vic sticks. Miss being able to launch a puck and also hack off player's legs near the crease.

Does hockey have the 'WAR' stat like baseball? I think most of these goalies would have a high number considering that the game was different and we couldn't really name their backups on these teams. These guys played almost every game and were the names of the league for a long time.

There are tons of youth tournaments in Nashville, so I have to imagine the rinks are all there and tons of dads who play. Congrats moving there. seems really nice.

@Wonder35 that last pic is so old, the boards are yellowed lolll. Love it! Amazing how our chest protectors looked like a simple winter jacket under our jerseys, eh
I'm 54, played in the old ways of Plante, Fuhr, Resch before modernising my game in 2006 to what is today. Hard on the hips/knees/ankles but tolerable. Has anyone done the same and eventually reverted back to the old style due to pain or simple physical limitations? How'd that go?
Aside from the 2 pad stack that I still pull out now and then, I can't remember the last time I made a kick save. I dread making a skate save with my no cowling skates. My butterfly instincts are now ingrained.
I love the VH and will choose it 3 times out of 5 over the RVH.
Yeah - I know the RVH and I teach it to the kids. But my body isn't a fan. I struggle getting my hips correct while positioning my legs.
It's easier for my body and brain to drop to a VH. Also after playing roller for decades, I prefer to get up to my feet and move.
I lost 60 pounds since March - so movement has been way easier.

VH is now old school eh?
Classic as hell.
When the lacrosse goal was called the 'Michigan', I used to reach over the net and push the player with my glove when they were scooping up the puck. Although today, most guys can pick the puck and not even slow down. In the day - they'd stop and concentrate on it.

I used a VH on one kid last week. He told me after I covered the puck that I confused him how I was positioned.
It's a 'VH-C' save. That's the VH Classic.
My 16 year old son filled in with my team. First time I had one of my kids play in a game with me. Pretty cool.

I play in a league now that pretty much everyone is younger than me. My gear is older than some of the skaters.

I'm back and need some quick advice on 2 vehicles. So any mechanics here that can take a moment to look up these links on Kijiji and let me know if either are worth it. Thanks in advance...

I don't crap about either vehicle.
My friend had a Murano. The sloped rear glass killed any room in the rear for carrying stuff. The floor was large enough but once you closed the rear hatch.
As a square as heck Jeep guy, this was frustrating with her Murano.
Looks big, right? Look how tight the roof is to the backseat.

Oddly - I'd buy a car with 200k on it before anything between 150-200. Seems like that window is where things die. If its past 200 - odds are some has paid for and gotten through the repairs required period.

I've been wanting to announce it but in all honesty I have no decent pictures to go with it lol
For those wondering, I've signed with a J20 team in Tumba all the way in Sweden. It's a tier 2 junior team directly connected to a division 1 (tier 3) professional team. Super excited to have this opportunity since I'd never been to Europe until I went to try out with the team a month or so ago.
This is so awesome. Good luck. What an experience!

Good info on SP making the NHL jerseys. Makes sense.
When I was a kid, NHL teams would contract their own supplier for their game jerseys. The league allowed them to put their logo on too.
The Flyers used Eagle Sportswear jerseys. You can see the 'Eagle' name stitched into the back right bottom hem. Yes, that's Tim Kerr in a Jofa.
Ruberti's is still in business in West Chester too. I think the son of the founder just does printing now.

Fanatics will not offer a real jersey for us non NHL players. Sorry.
How long until Fanatics is broken up? They are a monopoly now.
They own every sports merchandise company now.
They own the sports card market (They own Topps)
They just bought a sports betting site.
They own mitchell and ness - so they own every current and past uniform.
It's nuts!

Anyone catch the NASCAR all star race last night?
NASCAR held the race at a track they stopped using in 1996. North Carolina put some money up for restoring the place a few years ago and NASCAR came back in style. Cool to see an old place again decades later. Neat then and now gallery here.
Would be cool to see the major sports do this to some degree. Tough with the NHL as the old arenas usually get demolished once done with them.
This track was darn well near being demolished but people kept asking and other people listened. NASCAR is getting less popular every year, retreating back to what it once was may be what it needs to stabilize.

Atlanta:
Major US market with tons of cash. NHL ready facilities. Ownership group ready to go.
If they weren't 0-2 so far with the NHL, they'd be a sure bet.
-
I really think the NHL likes leaving the Yotes as is. They're basically chum that attracts big money sharks to buy them. The NHL then convinces these people with plans that they need an expansion franchise. Then the owners all get a share of the expansion fee jackpot rather than the much smaller relocation fee.

Phil forever....
Are these real uniforms they wore in an actual game or warmups? I feel woozy.

Had my MRI last Friday, waiting to hear from orthopedic surgeon but the results from the imaging folks:
•High grade complete/near complete tear of the MCL
•Articular surface fraying in addition to partial and full-thickness fissuring of the patellar cartilage
Sorry to hear this. How'd it go w/ the surgeon?

Airing it out will be the best thing for it. I don't really use anything extra - others do and will chip in.
Helmet foam is tough. I try to wash my helmet semi regularly and use dish soap and warm water. Foam hardens anyway, so when it's time to replace it, there are tons of options available.
Gloves I have mostly just used hot water and run it through them to remove some of the grime. I replace blocker palms too to keep my old blockers like new.
Be cautious of sunlight on your gear. Tempting to throw it in the sun and bake it dry fast. Sunlight can damage the jenpro materials.
