Not as high quality pictures as some in this thread, but I thought I'd share a couple from my last few seasons.

Those reeboks always make goalies look so tall in their stance. What is that second set?

  2. My purchase today:

2 Sher-wood GS350 (PP41) foam core sticks, 26", regular in white/blue/red (last ones they had in HABS colourway). They were 125$ea but got them at 88$ea. My only gripe is that they are made in China. Will this have an effect on durability? We shall see. I'm saddened to see such an iconic stick brand source itself overseas for production. Stupid part is that I bet they are using Canadian maple they bought from us to then sell back to us :o

My current Warrior stick is getting beat up and my Sher-wood 530 is near death so I just had to. Won't use them until I've bought my new pads and blocker. Y'a y'a, crazy I know. I just want to feel "clean" :D

  3. So while I visited my local shop today, it so happens that a CCM Rep was there with the new lines coming out, I'm guessing for next spring, and I manage to get a bit of a sneak peek..

I'll start with the big one that most are waiting for, the skates. There will be 2 models if I understood well, "Speed something" and another one (forgot the name). The unnamed one was cowlingless. He said they will stand a bit higher than the Bauers (mostly due to the blades) but the pitch is the same. They have a snap in blade and there's a rotary spring adjuster to better secure the blade in place (cue Bauer blades getting knocked off the boot from pucks). They looked nice, almost Vaporish if I can say. I asked him if they've widen the toe box for these and apparently they have. We'll see when some of you get their hands on a pair.

The chest pad, not sure if it was the pro or sr, had some D30 used here and there. Looked pretty stiff and in all honesty, if there was some trimming done due to the new rules, this thing looked massive.

The other piece I can speak of was the jock. It seems they included some gel in one of the models. What kind? Can't say. I wish I could of chatted with him some but they were talking business and then he jetted while I was checking some stuff out in another section of the store.

It doesn't seem like much but expect some leaks through Instagram and FB in the following months for sure.

  4. Didn't know where to post this so here goes:

I would like to propose adding 2 new things to this BB.

1- Creating a "Off-ice" forum for postings concerning physical conditioning, pre-game prep and post-game cool down, injury recovery and mental/visual development

2- Creating a "top" button on the outer page margin or at the very least, at the bottom of the page as to not have to mouse up every time.

    That's a Passau, right?

And whoever you got trapped in your place seemed to have tried to escape once or twice (scratches on door) :P lolll

Not mine but just saw this on Just Hockey Toronto's FB page. The leggins on the right seem to be goalie specific. You can see the pockets under the knee area to support and prevent knee pads from slipping down. Interesting. Anyone know this brand? Any good?

Oops, might of misunderstood which is which...

Plenty of @oneirichockey protective leggings available in both Origin & goalie models for Sr & Jr sizes, both models come with the added Kevlar sleeve at the bottom with the origins featuring a sleeve for your shin pad to keep in in place during the game

  8. Sorry to interrupt the nice conversation but I have a question for Gasman.

Having worked at Dukes, you came across your fair share of different brands of gear. Surely you`ve seen a Reidic mask. How much heavier is a Sportmask X8?

I`ll also hit you up in private for a Bauer question.

Interesting idea. I like it. I was actually in your neck of the woods today with the kids: Pioneer trail in gatineau park. About 5 minutes in, saw a nice fresh pile of bear droppings. Wife and I quickly decided the adventure hike was over - lol!

LOL, there's been a few sightings near the park entrance all week. On my bike or walk to work, I saw a bear or 2 on four separate days. Black bear, not too big, curious but still iffy about human presence. They're beautiful :)

As for the get together, here's the one that happened through the Canadian Goalies website gang (www.canadiangoalies.com), first year and second. I missed the 3rd one due to my work schedule at that time.

Fall at last! That magical time of year where you get to see your team play meaningless - though worrisome - pre-season games (god, I hope Price was sucking on purpose, or ironically, or had a stunt double), and when almost any beer style works - especially Marzen! Pairs well with pork tenderloin - the marinade for which also contains beer! #BBQporn

I think a local goalies beer/BBQ gathering is in order for next summer :D

So my son got his True skates yesterday - what a complete disappointment, as he was waiting for the skates to mold  and subsequently cool off he noticed that the section on the inside top section at the back of the foot was unglued!

HOWEVER that was nothing to what was coming - when he pulled out his feet both sections at the back of the skate where the littlre bump is to  help keep the heel in place where torn?

i am being told that the True rep saw these today and a solution will be provided within a day or two.  Does anyone use these skates with Clorino liner my local store is telling me that's only available to pros.?

They`re a custom only manufacturer. Shouldn`t it be available to everyone?

So this was waiting for me when I got home from work the other day! Very mobile straight out of the box and the protection seems unreal. Feels much better than anything else I tried on. Buying sight unseen and never trying on a Passau before was a bit nerve wracking but definitely worth the payoff! First skate of the year is next week.....can’t wait!!

I wish they'd round out the bicep and forearm blocks instead of just flat like that. The forearms would fit better in the gloves IMO. Wouldn't mind if they segmented the shoulder floaters right where it reads Passau. It would help with them taking shape to the body.

I like the Nash sling... had one in my other helmet for a year or so now. Same set-up just factory harness. I’ll likely never go back to a cup.

Correction: It’s actually been a little over two years with the sling.

I have the Weasel sling. Was just wondering of the quality and comfort. I'm looking into trying some other brands/makes.

Wow, you've never used knee pads?

I'd play without a cup before kneepads.

At this point I'd be terrified without them.

You can't say that with a straight face, nah lolll
