  1. Question: Does the bump in the boot chanel affect the measurements (F2K) when sizing up for pads? According to mine (21"), I should be a 36+, but that bump in the photo looks like a boot riser...??
  2. Looks to me like you've already made up your mind. Listen kid, no one will hold your hand and walk you through life and make those decisions for you! You are responsible for where you want to be and the actions you take now will avoid going through the "wouldas, couldas, shouldas" in 10, 20, 30 years from now! When I was 18, I contacted my local junior teams to tryout and they both told me they couldn't, that they already made their pics. They told me to contact the junior B team that was an hour's drive away from home. My mother didn't drive and my dad wasn't in the picture. I got mad...and gave up my chance at maybe getting somewhere. I became a "wouldas, couldas, shouldas" down the road. I didn't do what I needed to pursue my dream and so it floated away. I live with my decision every single day. The worst is not if I could of or not make the team...it's that I didn't even give it a shot. That's what pisses me off. I will never know what my chances were, good or bad. In the end, you live by these words: "If you think you're good enough, you're probably right. If you think you're not good enough, you're probably right to" "Thoughts become things, choose the right ones" - The Universe Good luck kid

Emailed Tydan and they said their blades are 1/4" higher than what's on my Bauers, essentially Step Steel, what I don't want. Does any of these companies make a lower blade replacement?

Just looked at their website. They're not much for descriptions eh. The stainless steel one is their cheapest. I'm guessing it's still better than the bauer ones? Are they high like step steel or regular height? I had no idea blades were so friggin expensive, sheesh!

Back to my Vapor 700 skates...should my blade be dull after only 3 games, or did the shop do a shit job on my sharpening?

If anyone has worn the Tackla 6600 Keeper pants from the '80s-'90s as I have, you couldn't find a slimmer goal pant without calling them player pants. They were even slimmer than my D&R Pantas of before. I'll try and find a pic of me with them (Tacklas) and post it.

Today, after my game as I was removing my skates (Bauer 700X), I noticed that my toes were wet. I found it odd as I had yet to put my foot down on the ground nor had come in contact with water. No snow got into my skate. I put my hand in all the way to the toe box and voila, actual droplets of water, and I noticed that there isn't any lining whatsoever, simply a plastic toe shell. Is this normal? Is it only for the 700X? Anyone else notice this with their skates? Now I understand why my big toes begin to freeze after 40 minutes of game time
  9. That kinda makes me sad for John. He had a great run and influence in the game. At least Europe still have a thing for his c/a units, and the odd bear league loyalist.
  10. It's a legitimate consumer question. Is HD foam that much more expensive than LD? Is 1/8 of extra padding that more expensive? There aren't that many more bells and whistles that separate the pro and senior retail products. I could understand going from a grand to $1500, but near double the price is big. I would post these same questions in the Vaughn or CCM or Bauer threads but they don't have a rep there to answer questions. I exclude the Brian's threads cause they have a multiple various product line unlike the Warrior and a fore mentioned brands that carry entry, senior and pro level of the same model. I cannot be the only one who has thought this and wonders why. If they don't want to answer the question, it's their prerogative. I'm simply asking.
  11. Don't know if this was seen or shared. Don't even know if it's new or not. Never seen it myself. https://goo.gl/images/U8g9Qb https://goo.gl/images/ANHWoJ
  12. In all honesty, I just think that Bettman and company should come to grips with the fact that goalies are at their best in this era and that scoring numbers shouldn't reflect or aspire to that of say the NBA (exaggeration I know but still...)
  13. Ok, this might stir up the tank but I gotta ask... I'm looking at gear on Pro Hockey Life and comparing prices. The SR warrior pads are $999 whereas the Pro SR is $1949. That's nearly double. I know the shops set their own markup but the prices are pretty standard to what I quoted wherever you look. So I ask you this (Warrior), I, being aware that there is a slight difference in the internals used to fabricate the Pro model, are the materials used that much more expensive to justify the huge gap between the SR and Pro stuff? And don't feel like you're the only one I'm questioning here. Vaughn, CCM, Bauer - they all are doing the same thing. Just curious to know, understand.

My issue with my Mckenney 870 is the sides. If I overstretch or sprawl around and they come out, they catch on the side of my pants and won't go back in unless I take either glove off and fix it. Annoying as hell during a game.
  15. Lets not forget...never played goal in his life. Who would of thought.
  16. So last night I was glancing at some saved pics of gear and as I looked at the GT pads, I had a "hmmm" moment. So the calf wrap/channel is composed of a large velcro system. Unlike Pete's original gear and many other brands out there, I wondered - if at one point in the life of the pads, the velcro get frayed to a point where both part don't adhere to each other as well (even though there's a buckle present), does the user have to send the pads in for a full replacement which I presume wouldn't be cheap? Would a removable two ended velcro strapping system be more convenient?
  17. Team Canada right there
  18. Don't know if I asked you this before but, any serious stingers with the catcher? What level shots are you facing?

Ok. If you get a chance to slip a pair on, I'd like to know how roomy is the toe box please. And will there be a mid and lower priced version?

  22. @Kirk3190 Here's something that bugs me concerning Warrior sticks. I went looking for some specials and although I didn't buy one of these but have used the same model last year, I find it alarming the discrepancy in correct measurement and fabrication. It's the Warrior foam core Quick model. Both sticks are identified as 26" with a 14 lie, yet they are clearly not the same length. And this is not the first time I've noticed it with your sticks. I have an Emery model that is identified as a 27.5" but was no longer than my then 26" Quick. This leads me to wonder if any of your sticks are true to size? Have I been using a 26", or rather a 25", or maybe even a 27"? Brings confusion where it shouldn't, especially for the newbies in the position.
  23. I'm still sporting my Reidic mask I got off of estogoalie some 6 years ago or so. All white, chrome cert. cat-eye cage, a Habs helmet sticker on the right side, a Bulldogs (then AHL farm team to the Habs) helmet sticker on the left cheek, a Gatineau (Hull) Olympiques helmet sticker on the top and the number 33 on the chin. It continues to serve me well. Only cool story I can state on the mask is when they held some goalie tryouts I attended in Broisbriand for the famous Montreal-Quebec hockey series some years ago. When I got on the ice and skated near the bench, one of the shooters asked me if I played for the Bulldogs. I couldn't bullshit him but it did make me smile huge inside
  24. yes they were, but it's only to show how we went from a form fit c/a to an absurd Megatron to a now halfway zone.
