  1. I had this exact one. Loved it, extremely mobile but it was starting to get soft in the chest/belly. I donated to a 60+ group I subbed for a few times couple years ago. Don't be fooled by the age, some of them know what they're doing Mod Note - @RichMan when you quote a post be sure not to include your comment inside the quote. This is the 4th or 5th post of yours that I corrected.
  2. I've worn my chesties in and out over the years and I STILL can't find the sweet spot. I've worn a JB502 and a Mckenney 755 and a Pro return H5. For pants I've worn D&R Panta G, Tackla, Simmons 994 and for the longest time now Mckenney. I have tried a Passau first gen. and Mckenney 890 first gen. some years back but they were the wrong size for me. Also got my hands on some Halak pro return Brian's pants but found them too big. I'm now wearing an Mckenney 870 c/a in Lg and Mckenney pants in Xl. I tuck in and lace the front loop down to the pants, suspenders over and past the wings sitting on the shoulders. The fact that the side flaps sometimes pop out and catch on my pants and won't pop back in drives me nuts. I did try wearing without suspenders but the pants felt like they were falling off. Wearing the c/a out make it bubble out like a mass beer keg taking away from my down vision. I'm hoping to find something that feels right in the near future before it starts messing with my mind too much.
  3. Hey gang, joined and posted stuff for a couple weeks already and I thought maybe I oughta let people in on the who, what, when and where. Turning 49 in 2 weeks. I'm a frenchie, meaning I grew up in Gatineau Quebec, right next to Ottawa. Got into hockey at age 7 just playing in parking lots with the local kids. From the beginning I've always been interested in the goalie position. Once I managed to play on ice with actual goalie gear (city borrowed old leather stuff the likes of Plante and Dryden) in my pre-teens, I never looked back. Other than messing around with my son on outside rinks, I never looked to play out, not even D. I am a goalie, born and raised, lolll. So basically I've been playing the position for over 30 years I guess. I got into coaching in 2006 thanks to the graciousness of Richard Sevigny. He gave me my first brake and I've been at it since. I play as much as I can manage with any teams at any level but do favor high end beer league. You can read more about my path at www.facebook.com/gardienoptimumgoalie/ My online adventure in goalie related forums started as most with the Goaliestore back in 2002. I spread around a little with the likes of Canadiangoalies.com and a few others. As many of you, when Goaliestore changed servers, it kinda went down hill and I lost interest and moved on. Facebook has been helpful in letting me share my thoughts but this site is pretty much what I've been missing. Et voila! Thanks to the commish and supporting governors for letting me in. I hope to have a ball with you all. I have already recognized a few old usernames from the past. Looking forward to meeting the rest. Stop you later, Rich

So I had my second game in my X700 skates and the experience was slightly better. This time I laced them up tighter which gave me the support I lacked in my previous game. It's not perfect but better. I'm sure the 1X would be much better overall. I did feel some slight stress when in a wider stance than usual but it was manageable. My t-pushes and shuffles and pic-slides were more comfortable. Still need to get used to the b-fly slides and my recovery b-fly is still on the fence. Where I seem to see a significant difference to what I'm used to is when I go hybrid. If I have to kick save or 2 pad stack (both I still do on rare occasions), I find harder to work with due to what I think is the extra height and the edges catching and unexpectedly the lightness of the skate (however odd that may seem). Maybe 3 times the charm, or as we frenchies say "jamais 2 sans 3". I'll report on them next Sunday.

I'd still love the opportunity to try the Supremes on, and of course, there is surely a huge difference in fits between the pro and entry model.

To be fair, I came from a One80 skate, half a size too tight, kept getting my big toe banged. My feet shape have changed the past 3 years and I just couldn't stand these skates anymore. too uncomfortable. I just got me some X700 skates last week. Got them baked and gave them a run on Saturday. It was a big adjustment compared to your traditional skate. My One80 had a more stiffer boot/ankle compared to the Vapors. I might need to bake them again and see if I can get a better lacing fit the second time. Looking at pics of the Supremes, they seem bulkier and stiffer at the ankle compared to the Vapors. The shop didn't have the Supremes in store for me to compare firsthand.

That doesn't say all that much but someone already answered me this. Thanks anyways.

Would you say the Supreme one is a stiffer boot like traditional skates or is the Vapor one stiffer?

Can someone explain to me what exactly separates the Vapor and S skates other than the look of the boot?
