  1. Took pics for the Bauer thread so may as well show off my technique here! Chest: Vaughn V7 XF Pro Carbon Large Pants: Bauer Supreme 1S Medium How I wear: Untucked with laces fed through the segmented belly flap the XF has and tied into the nylon loop. Chest protector: semi-tight through rib elastic, Pants: As tight as comfortably possible with the inner belt, NO suspenders. Any Issues: Just have to make sure the elastic straps on the side are tight before playing. I prefer to leave part of an air gap between my body and chest protector to help deaden pucks, but I can definitely see how someone prefers it super close to their chest. Would also have problems of the rib pad getting caught in the pants on other models, but not with the Vaughn/Bauer combo so far.

Nope, I go untucked with my pant laces looped through the front..(segmented flap?) and into the nylon loop. I'll take a pic to show and update really fast. Here (ignore the messy bathroom please ) Here's a close-up of how I feed the laces and tie: I could pull the pants up higher than what's shown in the pictures as well. The Bauer logo would be just about under the rib protection.

I REALLY like that colour scheme. And I think it will look even better in person. How come you went for an INT blocker palm and not an INT glove palm? You'll get better closure if you go for an INT palm if your hands are on the smaller side.

They are CRAZY light. No word of a lie, holding the 1S and my pair of Vapor X800 player pants by the fight strap loops, the 1S feels the same weight wise. But the Curv thighs have been very protective (no stingers) after 2 skates in them and also pop rebounds to the corner a tad faster/further than my old CCMs. The thing that made me go for the 1S as opposed to the 2S (other than price) was the fact that the 2S is NHL spec. If I don't have to go NHL spec, I refuse to. Although I wouldn't go for a pant 1-2 sizes too big for me just for coverage as I still like my mobility. They definitely sit lower on the hips than other brands. Although it doesn't interfere with my chest protector (XF Pro Carbon), I could see how it would with others.

Muahaha told you you'd be better off in a small

The funny part is, I love the inner belt! I don't tuck (never found it comfortable) and I don't like wearing suspenders. I really like how Bauer did this inner belt, since it is independent on the inside. That means I can really get the belt tight but not lose coverage.

Bought a pair of 1S pants the other day. Gotta love end of season prices! I actually went in to try out the Optik pants as well as the Vaughn V7 XRs but it was the Bauers that felt too good to pass up on. Crazy light and comfy. I went for a Medium size to get a hybrid of the old style goal pant and the "NHL streamlined". Also, my waist size was right along with the mediums but that could be easily solved with suspenders in a large. Tried them once and I love the Curve thighs. Launches out rebounds. Haven't seen any reviews of them online. I guess pants aren't a "sexy" purchase.
  8. My LATEST goal purchase was a pair of Bauer Supreme 1S pants in a size medium. Went for the medium instead of the large because I wanted a hybrid of the old style boxy goal pants and the new NHL streamlined pants. Haven't seen any reviews on them but they felt great in store. I also got my True 2pieces in last week and have used them a couple of times.

If I'm being honest, you'll probably be better off in a small.

Thank-you! Brian's posted a metallic silver set on their IG recently which made me love my decision even more. Jury's still out on me going for black stitching instead of white, however!

I know @Hills has a very negative review on the 1S kneepads on his Youtube channel regarding protection. As far as I know, he likes his 1X knees though.

Is that basically just going for a +2 thigh rise? I knew you could do custom sizes through Bauer but they're still labelled as S, M, L, etc.

Yep to Niagara! But nope, I went from Vaughn Pro V Elites to poorly fitting CCM Eflex 3s. Only pieces of Warrior I have is a CR3 stick (wanted to try their new line without shelling for a CR1) and a set of knee pads as I needed more cushion for dropping down to my butterfly.

Thank-you! Your "deep dive" video on the pads especially convinced me to not only go Optik, but go FLY core as well. And it was trying out the Boa/pads in store that put the icing on the cake. But it's actually not grey! It's their "metallic silver" colour. I fell in love with it when I saw some sets made with it on their IG page. I tried my best to match them with my old rep hockey jerseys, but didn't want to add TOO much red or black as I play with a lot of teams and don't have one set jersey colour

Finally decided between my Brians Optik-Vaughn VE8 debate and the downpayment has been officially put on my card! Pads: FLY core 80 degree taper/soft boot 32+1.5" (skate size 8, ATK 17", thigh 8.5") X strapping with independent knee velcro #34 embroidered into calf elastic (all the red is red weave minus the air knit) Glove/Blocker: Blocker is totally stock Boa system Floating Anchor T w/ white skate lace INT palm Extra break in time for "finger to thumb" closure angle (all the red is red weave minus the air knit) Excited to see how they turn out! Hoping the black stitching looks just as good in person as it does on the customizer.

https://www.thegoaliecrease.com/index.php/products/product/4171-staineless-steel-non-certified-cage-fits-bauer-profile-series I use this exact one. Not sure who makes the actual cage, but the steel is much thicker and more than what comes with the Bauer. I'm assuming this makes it more durable. The welding is perfect as well. It's noticeably heavier, however.

Yeah I was definitely able to order a vertical stitch V5 when they first came out. I guess from a marketing standpoint it sorta makes sense.

Yeah its definitely a steep price. Brian's has different baseline pricing (I believe there are 3 or 4 tiers) and I was quoted under the "moderate" graphic up-charge. Granted, I asked for them to be SLIGHTLY different than the Heritage. I asked for the star shape to be removed from the gloves, so that could be the reason. I doubt it, however. Pic below The Goalie Crease I actually tried on a pair of Optiks and cancelled my Vaughn VE8 order. They felt so good. Luckily the order wasn't sent into Vaughn yet.

I was quoted at $400 CDN to go a Heritage graphic on an Optik set.

VE8 gear ordered! Would love to be the reviewer if this forum needs one when I get them. I may not post a lot but I sure do lurk the threads a lot My custom additions are also a secret until then
