Nice ? Also got to try on the 2S chesty yesterday. Felt great! Arms were nice and flexible right away (passed the finger to nose test easily) and didn’t feel boxy or overly stiff in the shoulders like the 1S did. Excited to hear the @TheGoalNet review after some use. As I’ve been throwing around the idea of a new chest protector after getting more stingers and even a deep bone bruise in my elbow with my V7 XF. The 2S is probably the only other contender with the VE8 NHL spec right now.
  2. I've always been a double T guy (basically grew up in the Velocity series), but I don't know if I've used the floating enough on ice to really compare. The floating spine (combined with the skate lace) is extremely soft, and there is a lot of lace for pucks to die in. My theory was that the Anchor T was a good middle ground to get the benefits of puck feeling in single Ts and retention in double Ts. The floating aspect also helps with closure! I've had my problems with Brian's gloves in the past, but the Optik glove has closed really well on me so far (hopefully I don't jinx it)! Nice set! Did you go for SR or Pro? There's a ton of potential with the Warrior colour zones, but sometimes simple graphics just work!
  3. Used it tonight! Wow do pucks DIE in that pocket, but I still get a bigger feel for the puck entering than I expected. the T and skate lace are obviously super soft, and combined with the thumb angle on the Optik glove, I probably don't even have to close my glove in other for a puck to stay in. Of course this is just an anecdotal, one time thing...and I probably jinxed it just by saying it worked well so early Finally, an XP glove that matches the set! Because of course in true Vaughn fashion, one of the pieces HAS to mismatch the others. Thought they fixed that problem on the SLRs, but... ? At least the standard VE8 graphic zones match, but the XP honestly looks like the better option IMO.
  4. Haven't seen a lot of info/pictures on the "floating Anchor T" from Brian's, but I took the risk and am hoping it pays off. The pocket/surface area of lace is MASSIVE and it's not even a +1" T!
  5. You definitely need a new set of steel! I'd go Armour, personally. Not only because they skate lace will protect the cord better, but because it looks cooler.

Had the same problem. VH/True has been a lifesaver on my insanely pronounced ankle bone. STEEP price but extremely worth it.

Picked up a couple of new twigs today. 1X for games and S27 for pickup/practices. Was able to get an S27 but not a 2S (or a 2S Pro) for some reason. Felt the non-pro 2S in person and even though it couldn’t be sold, I was a fan. The 2S pro is just too big of a departure for me at least for now. The fact that we can only get P31s now for Bauer is ridiculous. I don’t mind a mid curve on a stick, but nothing beats the Mrazek curve.
  8. Yeah, I agree with you. It seems like True tried hard to develop a holder that can be incorporated as both a player and goalie holder. And while I think it looks better as a goalie holder, I don't like it at all. Maybe it's just an optical illusion, but the radius of the holder looked way too short for a goalie especially compared to the Vertexx Edge. I know you can change radius fairly easily with the steel too, but I didn't want to risk it. A VERY solid option is to just order the boot and put your favourite holder on it. It's what I did, as I think the Vertexx Edge is a nearly perfect cowlingless holder. With the new CCM holder, there's now 3 or 4 very solid options to choose from.

I can help with that! Had the 1x pants for about a month but ended up selling them. They feel just like the Reactors in terms of fit and work well for a pair of pants. What I didn't like is the strapping system. The "fast strap" is super nice in theory, but I didn't feel like it was enough to keep the pants up. Suspenders are mandatory. I like to lace in my pants to my chest, but there's no skate lace. The entire design of the 1X pant just seems like an afterthought. They incorporated these new things to the Reactor design such as the strapping and their Aerolite foam, but they only work in one very specific way. If you DON'T tuck in your chest protector, these pants will not work for you. Like at all. The wide waist, fast strap and the super rigid front piece made not tucking a hinderance. To be honest, I think the 1S/2S is just the better designed pant. LOVE my 1S pants in terms of fit (there's a single gap in protection but it's not painful, just a "feel it a bit" type of sensation). If you want a more mobile pant similar to the 1X, I would suggest the streamlined 2S.

I'm really curious to see the professor strap on these pads if you have video of that! The new magnetic buckles have a cleaner look than the SLR RRC but also don't look as effective.

The 960 is one of the best/most iconic masks ever made ?

Yeah, that should be what it's there for. Not a lot of goalies use the top strap anymore, so I guess Bauer was using that insert to keep a cleaner aesthetic. Brian's always did this with their leather tabs as well (although I think they stopped doing it on the Optiks). I would call it a leather tab and insert personally. But English is a messy language so your terminology is probably just as correct as mine.

Just my local store. Their Bauer rep was there talking about the equipment.

They had both. Since the "try its" were medium, I wasn't really going to in depth with them. Most of my observations were from the S they had. But would love to hear the differences. Only thing I could visually notice was the lack of graphic on the gloves (and the obvious try it graphic on the pads).

Tried on the 2S Pros in person today. Felt crazy light. They are thicker than the 1S (at least on the side gusset) for durability reasons but are still lighter. Crazy stiff as well. I can fairly easily bend a 1S at the boot and thigh rise, but the 2S wouldn't budge unless I used an unreasonable amount of force. I can imagine their new Powerlite material is going to give off even hotter rebounds. It feels stiffer on the face as well. Glove feels WAY better than the 1S/1X. Feels more natural to me and could open/close it about 90% right off the shelf. Blocker feels the same as 1S (in a good way). Graphic looks really cool in person as well! And knee landing feels just like the 1X which I enjoyed. The CRS strapping is the same and is overly complicated if you ask me. Wanted to take advantage of their "Try It" pads for an actual on ice overview, but didn't exactly have $1000 for the required deposit ?
  17. yep! Thanks for the shoutout in the Insta stories!
  18. +1 you can definitely feel that they're heavier, but the fact that theres almost zero negative space in the skate makes the weight a non-factor.
  19. Nice stuff! Goalie Heaven is a great store and the stuff the Arcadis build is always top notch. How do you keep your warrior knee pads up? As in the top portion...I've worn them under compression pants AND socks but the top half still manages to slide down and bother me in my butterfly.
  20. +1 There are so many good "budget" masks out there, that there is no reason you should be in a "polycarbonate" (aka plastic) shell. I know OTNY has a kevlar reinforced shell for about $500 CDN. I've also heard great things about Coveted. Or wait for sales. I picked up my Bauer 950X (same shell as the 960 but with no Innegra reinforcement, less XRD padding and different backplate) for what a 940 would have cost me. It's your head. Concussions never go away. Trust me.

From my experience, the Speed Plates are perfect for people with high arches and the Superfeet Yellow/Carbon is more for players with low arches. My girlfriend (also a hockey player) had huge problems with her Superfeet and that was because her arches were too high and causing compression in that area. But has nothing good things to say about the Speed Plates.
