  1. New pad day. Took just over 9 weeks from order, which is really good for a newly released line. Brian's was 12 weeks when I ordered Gnetik. One problem, there is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE mistake with it from the specs I know I had submitted (and checked 100 times). Bonus points if you figure it out (it's on the glove). Not sure what the procedure is. @TheGoalNet is CCM good with replacing a piece if it's used/unused?

    R GT/2

That's a damn nice looking unit. Very tempting.
  3. Ah okay, seems like the custom bake is a really good option to get. Do they just ship stock skates from overseas and do the heat process in Quebec? Wonder how Bauer is gonna do their customs. Not sure if they have a custom bake/total custom like CCM. Most likely the same process as their player stuff, but I'm not entirely sure how they do those either.
  4. Interesting how quick the scanning process was. True/VH uses the same type of iPad attachment and that scanning process took much longer for me. Curious to see how they work out for you. My Trues are starting to fall apart and can't decide on the next pair considering all three offer custom boots now.
  5. Thanks! Wish I could go for a more interesting scheme, put I don't play on a team with a set colour. Two years ago was Pittsburgh gold/black, last year was Kings purple and Devils red (luckily), and my tournament team last year made me look like a damn Christmas tree. I just try to keep the same silver/red/black scheme as it was my colours in my last year of juniors. You should! I love how the black nylon never stains. It used to be a huge problem for me on the back of my glove as I like to tap my posts a lot. Another HUGE benefit is getting quick whistles when the puck is trapped between the knee block and the thigh rise.
  6. Not technically my gear yet but too excited and had to share! Placing the deposit on these today. Yes I know this is my second set in the last three months
  7. If you're worried about hip strain, you should invest in a bungee toe tie system. Makes way more of a different than any holder height.
  8. Hmm, didn't really notice the pads tilting forward or the flare, but I wasn't looking for that. I'll pay more attention to it tonight. I keep my bottom elastic really tight so that could also affect it. And yeah I also wasn't a fan how my pads would tilt a tad to the outside in my stance with other shock cord attachments. The Brian's "Smart Cord" sort of solves this as their reinforcement material sort of gives the illusion of skate lace slack, but the Armor Hybrid is a much nicer model and design. You should definitely go Pro Laces route! Not only is their stuff super high quality (only had one break after about 10 months of use 5x a week), but their customer service is phenomenal. I asked Michel to provide me with a skate lace OR a nylon lace as I don't like the screw attachment (plus the Gen4 toe bridge is slimmer so I'd have to find smaller screws) and he sent me both! I also ordered them over the weekend and they were made, shipped and delivered over the course of two business days. He used a faster Purolator method instead of standard letter mail for no extra charge. That's pretty amazing.
  9. Used a Bishop growing up back when it was called the Backstrom and loved it. Barely had to load up on the pass and it would go to the ceiling. Not the best blade to ice contact while in butterfly but it did its job.
  10. Update on these: HUGE fan of the design after trying them on the ice. Using a tapered boot, the slack is really nice as it doesn't put too much tension. Can get my skate nicely on the ice, but the shock cord comes into play when I need it to. Also keeps me connected enough to the boot, but the slack doesn't over rotate my pads like the first gen Armor model did. The 1.5" version might be more for everyone, especially if you off-set your boot, but the 2" version gets the skate on the ice without any noticeable tension on the cord (which is my preference). I went through the first and middle holes of my Vertexx holder to accomplish this.
  11. Went ahead and ordered the 2” version. Can’t wait to try them out...hopefully solve the rotation issues I’m having with my Gen4s. Ignore my leg I’m wearing shorts
  12. My favourite marketing strategy from them was "will out-preform any other pro pad at half the price!" while they still had 5lbs of leather straps and a leg channel design older than some brands.

Glad to see them making a comeback. Growing up, we always got our goalie team pants from them. Fantastic sets of pants, hoping for a more "modern" version.
  14. Let me know how you like the 1.5". Leaning towards the 2" version as I like to go through the middle of my toe bridge (not the off-set setting), but I play super aggressive on my edges. Big fan of the jenpro "slack" on the Brian's Smart Cord, but not entirely sure how much slack it's designed to mimic. I'm going to wait until @TheGoalNet gets his pair of hybrids and see what he thinks after using both.
  15. Wow these are exactly what I was hoping for. Now just can't decide between the 1.5" slack and the 2" versions
  16. ...So uhhh...does anyone have any info on the new Armor Hybrid model? Not sure how long a week is in Quebec
  17. Wonder what neck guard that is? Doesn't have the shape of a Vaughn (or at least some of the newer ones) or a Bauer.
  18. Waxed lace and use a lighter on the knot so it will melt to each other. Also like to light the ends so it doesn't fray. I believe @TheGoalNet does the exact same thing but with nylon lace.
  19. Thanks buddy! Wish I had an actually good glove save to windmill on instead of a quick snap from the top of the circles It's a 960xpm! Absolutely love the mask. Never had a custom paint job before, so I was super excited to get it done.
  20. First "unnecessary" windmill in the new stuff against the weakest shot thats ever been shot. IMG_0693.mov
  21. Nope, no upcharge on the extra break in time. Would recommend it on any custom order. The difference in closure is HUGE between a stock glove and this.
  22. Yep, exactly what @dstew29 said. It's the Brian's "Anchor T", just floating. You can see the Anchor T branding and how it is floating. It's a spec I stole off Garret Sparks when he was with the Marlies. Was living in Toronto at the time, and Marlies games are 10 000x cheaper than Leafs games, so I went to a bunch and noticed it. I'm actually not sure if you can get floating double T/Single T? But I imagine you can. I ordered it on my Optik (which was my first custom Brian's glove) and it makes a HUGE difference. Not only with puck retention, but with closure as well (as the T isn't laced in). The only negative about it is if you get a shot straight into the lace, you might not always feel it. Happened to me a bunch of times where I didn't know where the puck went, and it was in the pocket.
  23. Guess what came in today (and a week early) Specs: Pads 1-3-4 32.5+1" Smart Cord/Leather Boot No SBA in knee cradle, landing only No knee pad tab but still have primo in that area Blocker Extra backhand padding Harder rebounds (Lexan board) BOA Glove Opt1k shinned as Gnetik4 Floating anchor T w/white skate lace Extra break-in time on "fingers to thumb" closure Extra 1/2" on velcro tabs Match new Airknit material from Gnetik BOA The floating anchor T is an absolute game changer.
