Looking into getting a JRZ Fusion pad, should I be concerned about the internal construction of the pads? I like my Warrior G4's and want the same internals for the most part. Is there anything I can ask JRZ to do to the inside of the pads to mimic that? Do Warriors have plastic on the inside to cause them not to flex/shrink/get soft?

Thinking of going with a single break below the knee, or possibly a double break. I just don't want the pads to feel WAY too soft in the thigh rise. I like a stiff thigh rise, and a pad that can flex with my 5 hole.

I got no idea what I'm doing in other words.

Youre best bet is to contact JRZ and talk with them. Simon can build them anyway you like. I believe JRZ has a some composites in the thighrise to keep em stiff.  I am coming from G3s and G4s myself.

I ordered their stock pads, which should be coming in a couple of weeks.

  2. Updated Review:

I have played about 15 games with these. I had some initial wearing on my pads due to velcro and clarino having a go at eachother but that seems to have resided. I put a patch of moleskin on the boot channel and that seems to be holding up well and not wearing. It could have also been fresh clarino shedding a bit.

Ive noticed that I have to check the screws between games for tightness, but could loctite it.

In terms of speed of getting my skates on, these are awesome and while I cant get them super tight, I feel I get a very consistent tightness and overall good comfortable fit with the halo laces.

Definitely wont be going back to laces.

  3. Hey folks,

I went to swap my stepsteel out for some new runners. I have the nut and bolt holders and need some advice on how to remove the bolts from the old runner or where to buy replacement bolts.

  4. I went with wire rack shelves when I migrated from basement to garage.

36Wx 84Hx 14D about 70 bux each in the garage.

A blower fan and cyclone fan for air drying.

Hot tub, kegerator and TV. Makes for a nice way to unwind after a game. Thinking about dropping in some synthetic ice.

Ordering the Brown one right now but have some questions.

The larger shoulder caps, are they worth getting? Pros/cons?

What is the major difference between the segmented and one piece floaters? pros/cons?

Im getting the rib protection because 2 skates ago I took one off the bare rip and was lucky it was a slower shot, still bruised bad. Any major reason I shouldnt?

I chose the extra bisep protection because hell why not. I hate the hockey I play sometimes because a beginner can come up on me and take 9 a 30 mph shots, then the 10th is from an ex JR player shooting at NHL speed. Catches me off guard all the time when your not ready and its not fun getting stung

I dont usually tuck mine in but I was considering the suspender strap holders incase I decide to. Is this stupid?

I chose not to get the shoulder lifts because I hate when they bother my mask. Should I reconsider?

The fighting strap seems unnecessary, or is it good to keep it in place? never used one before.

Anyway if anyone has time to read this book I wrote and make decisions for me I appreciate it

Larger shoulder floaters will give coverage at expense of mobility.

It sounds like you just may want to get the russian spec upgrade.

I got a 2400CA which has built in extra rib protection with russian spec. It is pretty mobile once broken in.

Get the suspender straps if thats your thing, i dont tuck and just tie down and its fine.

Skip lifts, russian spec covers bicep protection. Fight strap probably skip.

I've played with a G3 and GT, and I definitely prefer the feel of the GT.

Weird, I still liked the G3 over the GT and G4. The G5 is also excellent.

The removable palm is a love it or hate it proposition. One guy I know loves it, and another uses a Brian’s glove with his Warrior set (block, pads, chesty and breezers) because he liked the feel better. The ability to customise is certainly a great thing for some people. The weak link for me on Warrior IS the trapper going all the way back to the Messiah I started out with. Couldn’t get on with ANY Warrior trapper I had tried. Not certain where pro and pro plus is going to take us as far as whether or not “Senior gear is the current generation externals with last generation’s internals”, as I felt the Ritual Senior gear was by far the best value in new goalie gear. The gear Pete Smith and Warrior are putting out there is always on my radar.

I actually love the warrior trapper, its up there with Vortek for how it feels. I will admit it does feel a little weird at first with the velcro palm.

That being said, I sold both my sets of warrior gear to get a set of Passau Starke (on sale and I was bored with a tax return) and a pads of JRZ with warrior gloves.

I really liked the gear. The pads were a bit too short for where I would like them which the Passau pointed out to me, so Id have to go full custom.
