  1. One rink opens back up in August. The private rinks are having pickups tonight, with two of my teams starting back up the week of 6/15.

I am going to skip a few of those games since I have asthma, and had my baby girl spend 50days in the NICU earlier this year.

  2. Its Halfoween. So I busted out an isolation movie marathon, some pumpking and weyerbacher imperial pumpkin.

    Movies, with themes of isolation

Don’t get me wrong I’ve heard nothing but great things and I'm always hearing people recommend them it just seems soooo long. I can barely stand waiting for 8-10 weeks for pads.

guess it’s a testament to the craftsmanship of the masks since people are willing and do wait that long. Like you said too you can get a lot of stuff custom on the mask at a great price point. I would order one and probably forget it did until it showed up one day.

Are the wait time last usually that long? I need a mask soon and would love to get a custom fitted mask. Right now I’m looking at an OTNY but it’s more expensive and less customizable than protech.

My current mask after a shot...

The wait times are long and only getting longer. My wait was around 9 months total. As far as was it worth the wait, I will say yes as I have had a hard time finding a mask that fits me properly. I put my Protechsport on, and it had no wobble and felt glued to my head.

In terms of protection, I took a slapshot to the head from a former college player first time out from the top of the circle no ringing whatsoever.

Pardon my ignorance but are his masks THAT good that people will Waite 6+ months for one? Just seems like a crazy amount of time to wait for something. I see on his website it’s 33 weeks that’s so long to wait.

It is one of those quality, time, cost scenarios.  Pick two.

In this case you are picking quality and cost.

Michel is a single man operation, who has built masks for many NHL'ers and offers a custom padding to your head. He uses high quality materials and keeps his costs low by being a one man shop.  He is also working a full time job, so this is his side hustle.

Price wise, his top of the mask is 4 layers of kevlar + 3 additional kevlar layers in the forehead and chin + 1 fiberglass for 695CAD

This competes with a Bauer 950XPM in price but is made with much better materials and has a custom fit.

Other custom manufacturers are priced around $800-$1100 USD.

Is there a better feeling than being home safe with your wife and new baby - especially after a longer-than expected hospital stay?

A heartfelt congrats on the new addition! Nice photo bomb by the blocker, too... or did Baby Mango photo bomb a picture of the blocker... 🤔

Shes sitting in the pocket of the trapper.  I her glove saved her when mom wasn't looking.

I do believe he still does offer the option of a catch left or full right cladding for his chesties. I know it was standard to specify left or right catch hand for a John Brown for a long time.

He still does as a standard question on the order form.

  7. Buying Vortek pads over Smith. Love Vortek gloves but liked Smith pads way more once I got my hands on a set.

Then I sold my Smiths after being injured. I then bought a used Warrior set because the feel a lot like the Smiths I had and longed for after coming out of retirement.

Way to go!  We have one game left in our season.  We're currently sitting in first, a win this weekend clinches it for us.  A loss could potentially drop us to 3rd depending on how two other teams finish.

    Good luck!

Nice job on the sweet win! That must have been really satisfying!

I like some of the Southern Tier stuff I’ve had over the years- but it’s been a while! Cheers dude!🍻

Thanks! I live near one of their bars, they had a Pumpking Fest. Otherwise all their IPAs are good. It ended badly when we got the 18% Rum barrel aged Pumpking. Thank god for uber.

    Nice win Mango!!

Thanks!! We finished the season with the least goals for and 2nd best goals allowed. 37 GF / 32 GA. Record was 6-3-1.

  11. Just wrapped up my regular season by handing the first overall team their first loss of the season.

We had no subs vs a full bench too.

Thus I bust out Warlock a 8.6% imperial pumpkin stout

  12. Buying tip: Always use paypal goods and services for your protection. It costs 3% but is worth it. If someone asks to go friends and family or alternate payment method, you do not have as much recourse in case of a scam.
