My Trues had 4mm, so nothing ever changed, even when I went from holders to cowls. The saddest part is that I could easily see me going back to cowls if I get that freakish hit to my feet. I have a fresh pair of Vaughn cowls with about five pair of steels just in case.
It seems that once you have bad luck with something, you won’t go back. For that, I don’t blame you.I havent had any issues going cowlingless, with bad shots or anything. Trues toecap seems pretty solid and so far has been for me.
Ill probably try 3mm with a profile in a couple of weeks, have the steel just need to put it on, but ive been getting my legs underneath me still.

I have 4mm in my trues. I tried a pair of Bauer 1x which had 3mm and it didnt go well for many reasons, namely skates being loose due to eyelet problems. was like a baby deer on ice.
I havent tried 3mm since

I think the 2000 was full kevlar, 5000 was fiberglass, kevlar reinforced and the 8000 was polycarbonate.
How flexible is the mask? Smooth on the inside or bumpy?

Awful pylon defenseman yelled at me to get back in net after I moved out to cut down angles on a high percentage shot last night.

First three games back are in the books for me.
First game was brutal, it was 90 degrees out and the rink doesnt use A/C much so I was a sweaty nightmare. It was a final game of the season for my normal team and they needed a goalie, ended up being a 4v4 the entire game. Definitely was sore for about a week.
Then our new season started 2 days later and still being sore from the first game, I actually felt pretty good.
Second game into the season when I was putting in pegs both my hips tightened up hard and I played through that while facing 30 shots (we actually had a score keeper for once!)
Overall not bad getting back on the ice.
Post game chapulas are amazing

Don't match. You are buying the gear so buy gear with colors you like.

I got around to playing on Sunday.
Initial review:
These actually work pretty well. Fast to get skates on and secure, stayed the same the whole game.
Still not as tight as laces but they work well.
-
I bought a set of these to try out. Install was super quick.
I can get my skates pretty tight with them. Not as tight as laces, but I tend to crank my laces tight. Walked around the house with one on and it seemed pretty good.
I play for the first time since March 2020 on Wednesday so ill see how that goes.

Dryland training? You crazy.
I'm planning on the trial by fire route. There may be a chance I leave the rink in an ambulance.
I mean I have two weeks to get ready, so its better than watching my stories and eating bonbons

Anyone got tips on wearing a mask under the mask? CCM ones any good?
I have about two weeks to get in game shape, mostly been doing squats to keep fitness level somewhat up to date, any other dryland activities to suggest?

Also hockey reviews shows how the calf wing is super flex able. I'm so use to the firm hard plastic or what ever they use on the calf wing to make it have a more flat solid feel on the ice. Would this hurt the sliding or even have pucks slide under the pad.
I just got a set of passaus, I havent gotten them on the ice yet, but the calf wing is feels to be about the same construction as the calf wing on my set of Optiks.
The actual landing surface is harder than my Warrior G3s as well.

It came out great, that's a solid fucking pickup!
The fit on it is pretty spot on. I was going pad it myself with Eco, but Ray talked me into him padding it and I am glad he did.

I saw him post that on FB yesterday. Fucking sweet pickup! If you don't mind me asking, how much did that run you from Ed and then from Ray?
It was 900 from Ed then 550 + 90 from Ray to finish it. We switched to a Shark 954 cage for future compatability, since I got a long cage from Ed that probably would be hard to match later on.

Hi guys. New to the board. Thanks for posting all this new information on equipment because it's been quite a while since I've bought new gear (I think in 2002 I bought my blocker and glove). I'm barely beer league now and just play in pick ups and help in player's clinics as a target on skates, but it's still so much fun!
I'm looking to finally update my 1990 Brown full right C&A from which my belly has grown out. It's a stock model that always seemed a little bit too broad in the chest and would bunch out a little when cradling chest shots. I want to say it's a JB 550 or 551?
I obviously don't need the Russian Spec 2400 but still want good protection for those big windups from the blue line (I LOVE those so much!). Which Brown model would y'all suggest would fit my level? I'm seeing some guys having issues with bulky heart pads so I'm not sure if that's a necessity for me.
Any of the standard spec units would work for you. Brown does every unit custom now, so they can build it exactly how you want it. Probably the 2200 or 2000 would be best.

Thanks for that information. I am actually moving to NJ at the end of the year, where do you guys play?
The rink I play at here in PA seems really lackadaisical about the whole situation. I guess I'll find out tomorrow how everything goes.
Generally speaking I dont think you need to wipe down your pads with lysol after every game. Maybe spray with diluted alcohol or vinegar afterwards. The virus has a life span of a few hours to few days living on surfaces, so id just say wash your hands well after handling.
Im in PA too, and wayyy too many people just seem to have given up with dealing with the virus.

Richman, I tried a few cages out.
CCM looks like itll fit. Protechsport cateye for a theodore mold also works.

Hi Rich,
I have a Reidic and a CCM standard cage, I can see if the fit is good for you.
