MangoRhinehart
Hey yinz, I had my first game out with my True 2piece skates on Tuesday and wanted to give my initial review and impressions. From a performance standpoint, these are amazing, my lateral movements when down in the butterfly were much faster, and required less energy overall to get from point A to point B. At the end of the game, and the next day, my legs still felt pretty fresh. In my game, I can think of at least 2 goals that this directly prevented. One being a breakaway where I had to slide across the crease at speed, the other an in close mad scramble where I was able to get over faster and get my glove on the puck. I was blown away by how much of a difference in my game they made. Prior to this I was wearing CCM Ribcor 50ks, which were starting to cause me ankle pain in both feet, hence the quest for new skates. I wanted to go with cowlingless as the weight savings was pretty dramatic. I had been looking at some Jetspeed FT480s but no shop in town carried my size, so I decided on a pair of stock true skates, since my feet aren't too weird, and they were about the same price. Out of the box, I could barely get my feet in the boots, and immediately bought a shoe horn, since I want to try to prevent any durability issues that may crop up. Once I got the skates baked, I can get my feet in, and even though they are stock, are basically molded to my feet, with no room whatsoever. I normally wear a size 12 shoe, 10.5 in CCM/Reebok. I got size 10, my feet overall fit pretty good, with my big toes in both skates touching the toe cap with slightly more pressure than I used to, as normally I would have to wiggle to touch the cap. In terms of finish, even with the stock skates, there are still a few areas where there is extra glue drippings or not quite as finished as a skate from the bigger brands. Overall: Performance is amazing, I feel it dramatically improved one of the weaker parts of my game in lateral movement Finish is alright, a little sloppy in places Durability will continue to monitor, and was definitely a concern. TheGoalNet
When you say stock, these are the stock ones from GM and not the ones based off a foot scan?

That is correct. Just a plain ole boot, no scanning whatsoever.
TheGoalNet
Just now, MangoRhinehart said: That is correct. Just a plain ole boot, no scanning whatsoever. Could you send us some close ups of the areas around the ankle, the bottom of the boot, and where the plastic meets the composite? I am curious if the mass produced skates have a better fit and finish than the custom ones. Very cool BTW, I don't think we have had anyone buy the stock skates yet? Md30
I have had my stock gm true skates for about a year with no issues. I previously wore custom 1pc. They were VH then but the quality was about the same.

Md30
Not really, other than the differences between the older VH, and the newer style true. With evolution, it seems like they have added more durable materials to the exterior wear areas.
Big2
MD - have you had a chance to try them yet ? I might get be wrong but the left skate holder looks slightly offset to the inside - try shuffling in them both ways, best way to confirm if this is the case or not ! TheGoalNet
Thanks for adding the pics Look better than lots of the 1 pieces I’ve seen, glad they’re progressing. Stock should make it easier to improve fit and finish
