  1. Not that @ruckus007 needs confirmation... but I have the Blue Premier 1 from TGC and it is indeed the same as the off the shelf pro... but smurf blue.
  2. I agree... just playing devil's advocate. My only contention would be that bespoke works best (or is "better") when you know how you play and build equipment to compliment that instead of building it for how you'd like to play. Custom pieces are one thing... I have a custom CCM/Koho set but modded the leg pads for a better fit. I would expect a different level of service from a bespoke manufacturer, someone who works with the client to go over every aspect of features and options to build what should work for them. I've never been concerned with warranty, but I do understand that for some that is an enormous piece of the equation. Having said all that, my Premier C/A is showing some wear and I'll be anxious to work with Passau on a bespoke piece for myself and how I play.
  3. @TheGoalNet So believe it or not I actually do 99% of the cooking in my family and I don't have a food scale, I do it all to taste, not one of those damn bakers who NEED recipes. That said, I'm ordering a food scale today, mainly for the purposes of weighing goal equipment. I can't say 13a feel lighter than my previous V5s... but that's like comparing apples and oranges. 1 skate down and they feel VERY mobile. Length is about the same and the slimmed down thigh is noticeable when getting dressed, but 13a do come up significantly higher above my hips and integrate much better with an untucked Premier C/A. The ability to close 5 hole without door stop thigh blocks has taken my desire to shave about 1"-1.5" off my leg pads a NECESSITY. More to come...
  4. Too broad of a statement to make. Custom doesn’t equate to better. I’d say in term of protection the 13a are a significant upgrade for me over my V5s. Length is the same at 19” from beltline to bottom of the pant leg. But how they fit, actually sitting up higher on my hips the result is a slightly shorter pant. Need a couple months to get a good review put together, but don’t sell a big name company short simply because they’re a big name company.
  5. @TheGoalNet that could be. I don’t think ALL of these 13a were elastic only, but the majority yes. Just received my set yesterday and will be wearing them tonight. First impressions are that these are fantastic!! Fit is so much better as is the padding. Pic to answer the country of origin question...
  6. Gone. Goalie Monkey noted that some pairs might have lacing but most are the new elastic only. Supposedly makes for uniform sizing and guys can’t make their pants baggy by having loose laces.
  7. Stubby femur and all shins?
  8. I'll be leaving mine untucked and not attached to my pants... but should that change after a few skates I'll be sure to make an update.
  9. @CalValce you're like my doppelganger. While I went with Retro Flexes on my legs, the entire reason I did the Koho glove was for the 580 break (only offered under either Koho or Reebok branding at the time.) Great work on the reskin. Hell I even have the Premier chesty too (Blue however.) Do you also enjoy tinkering on cars and math??? Even if you don't... you've got style... Great minds...
  10. I think any pant will do its job in protecting you well when you're square. The V5s I have now are 6 years old and I've never worried about a lack of protection. I took a nice clapper from the left dot off of the inner part of my right thigh a couple months back that left a rainbow colored bruise, but that was me not getting to my mark on time and having my legs open. What's funny to me is that I rarely am in the market for new pants, yet you've been playing since 2015 and have gone through more than 1 pair. The only real difference I'm interested in (besides looking incredible of course) is the tapered leg and potential less interference on leg pads and more of the mobility @CalValce has mentioned.
  11. As soon as I get them I'll post initial impressions and comparison (both dimensions and feel.) I'm guessing I'll have the same reaction as @CalValce though...
  12. That's everything I'm hoping for @CalValce. I'll still need to get my leg pads shaved down some this spring (getting unwanted interference when in VH/RVH) but I know GSparks was an immediate advocate for the slimmed down pant for those same reasons.
  13. That's what my wife means to say what she tells me "I'll stay home and put the kids to bed instead." I mean they're almost 2 1/2 now... when will they start doing things for themselves??
  14. Danke!! Anxious to receive them and get them on the ice. I'd say I'll try and get some action shots to post, but really we don't even get wives/girlfriends to show up generally speaking.
  15. Not sure @Hills... I just happened to spot them today. I'll be able to do a comparison to my V5s... but I don't have a true control like a pair of Senior Pro Premiers. Hopefully I have them in time for my Sunday tilt.
  16. Ordered... given my waist size lends itself to Fit 1 I had to choose between LA Kings (Third), Florida Panthers (Navy), and Hershey Bears (Brown)... I went with Hershey. Hopefully looks decent with my Retro Tan setup...
  17. As I inch closer to clicking purchase... and for anyone viewing this post... Goalie Monkey has promo code SCORE15 going on right now that takes off 15%, even from clearance items like these pants.
  18. Good deal... thanks for the info. The full elastic front is sorta throwing me off visually... but I'm guessing I won't even notice the change when wearing them. All signs point to THIS GUY investing in some new pants... but which color? More to come...
  19. Thanks @IPv6Freely... what was the pant length like? I'm not the tallest guy at 5'9" (5'10" at a morning skate.)
  20. Has anyone picked up a pair of these CCM Pro Return 13A NHL Spec Pants from Goalie Monkey? I've been looking for a new pair for a while now and the price on these isn't bad. I've only really worn Vaughn (currently V5s) so any feedback on them would be greatly appreciated. https://www.goaliemonkey.com/equipment/pants/sr-goalie-pants/ccm-goalie-pants-13a-pro-return.html From Goalie Monkey: Details Brand new for the 2017-2018 NHL season, we have gotten our hands on the newest spec CCM Pro Return NHL Spec Senior Goalie Pants! These pants are the exclusive 13A model which is built off of several different styles of pant to offer the highest level of protection. The base of the pant is most similar to the Reebok 11K pant which features a separate upper attachment from the lower half. The biggest change in NHL spec pants is the rounded thighs on the bottom half which sit closer to the goaltenders body. Moving to the top of the pant, the hip padding is very similar to the older CCM CL Pro pant mixed with designs from the CCM 12A pro stock pant. That front hip padding has an extra strategic cut to allow for more flexibility, while being sewn down in more places so the padding does not fold up and expose the thigh. The second biggest change in NHL spec pants is the full elastic front which does not allow goalies to wear their pants incredibly baggy. This full elastic front allows for more uniformity and a tighter fit on the body. Last, the sizing of the waist was changed to make the sizing of goalie pants more specific to the individual goaltender, so please check the size chart before purchasing. These pants are made to NHL and AHL specifications ALL Pro Return gear is made to the Pro's specification and may have been altered or have slight cosmetic blemishes Some pants may have the lacing in front instead of full elastic Some pants may also have “KW” signature or a player specific name on the inside No Warranty
  21. Pads outside the bag here as well, linked together by boot straps and over the shoulder. As for my bag, I have a pro stock Connecticut Whale bag (which probably could fit my pads as well.) Creature of habit/routine/OCD... but as I mentally pack my bag now... Right side are my pants with knee guards and jock tucked inside Middle portion has my toiletry/ pre-game consumables (tape, stone, extra laces, etc), emergency bag (extra cup, extra tape, spare leather straps, etc.), laundry bag (towel, padded shirt, compression pants, socks, Shock Doctor cup), rolling stick (roll out IT band etc after stretching), water bottle, and shower sandals. Far left side is blocker (inside facing up), mask (in it's bag w/ spare sweat bands), neck guard on top of mask bag tucker underneath glove (which has been dampened and tied shut.) Back to the middle, skates, C/A, and lastly team jersey if its a league game. I second the Bio Steel... used to use the single serve packets I mixed at the rink... but now just have the bulk canister and mix before I head out.
  22. Agreed on @Mike24's note here. I've played outdoors on occasion and I don't change what I wear at all really. @stackem30 What you really need to ask yourself is are you usually on the less talented team? If the puck barely leaves your zone, you'll probably be kept busy enough and be working up a good sweat. That's coming from my own experience.

    CCM Gear

I actually the exact opposite problem on mine (a Koho 589 Vintage Pro... but the same.) Actually added some foam padding to the underside of the blocker foam along the top of the hand and wrist. That said, I'm also 5'10" and 155... I don't exactly have the meatiest hands/wrists. Interesting you find it tight though.
