I wish there was a shop around me that had a set I could demo. Never been a Bauer guy. In fact I'm just now in my first pair of Bauer skates. But there is something about these I'd love to try. Also wish they came in something other than a white base. Pretty sure everyone who has commented on 1S and 1X has said that already... but now I can be included in that group. The whole digital printing thing isn't a thing until it's available for consumers like us in my opinion.
  2. If you mean the sharpie... number on the butt end. If you mean getting out more... I simply mean the fact I have enough time to consider a market color means I have too much time on my hands and should go do something productive.
  3. Grabbed Sizing Chart for posterity while GoalieMonkey had it up...
  4. Yes... and what some may not notice is the additional break in that flap compared to retail and that it is largely sewn down...
  5. ^^^^^ What he said. Also, what I failed to get in the picture is that I use gold sharpie for writing on the butt end. Matches the gold embroidery on my pads. (Clearly I need to get out more.)
  6. Sticks finally arrived... took Black Tape Banditry to another level... FOAM CORE WOOD SHAFT COLOR SHAFT : BLACK COLOR PADDLE : BLACK COLOR LOGOINLINE: NO PAINT COLOR LOGOOUTLINE: ANTIQUE GOLD PITTSBURGH SHAFT: HEAVY21 FLEX: REGULAR SIDE: REGULAR CURVE: C6 SIZE SHAFT : 28" SIZE PADDLE : 27,5"
  7. @TheGoalNet may not have been chirping you... but I am @mik. Squeeze the water out into your mouth... you're not making out with the darn thing!! HA All joking aside... nice Hiller setup.
  8. Is this a picture with the team you're putting in the rear view mirror... ironical if it is... very ironical.
  9. Yeah... you're probably right. Just not sure how many removable pieces a jock needs? I guess I fall into the camp of guys saying "Monster solved another problem I don't have."
  10. After that video I get the feeling this was made as part of a dare... Some guy in a bar: "Betcha can't make something as simple as a jock the most complicated piece of equipment a guy is wearing... and to top it off you have to use no less than 6ft of velcro." Monster: "Challenge accepted."

What size are the leg pads?

I'd say the orange looks filthy... but i think you covered the whole dirty aspect. I actually do like the orange on orange. My only complaint on the look of 1X pads (and 1S for that matter) is a lack of options for base. Comes in any color you want so long as it's white. Justin Fazio's latest 2S set is a reminder of how good they could look if Bauer had more color zones. In time I suppose. Great looking gear though.

Not that I'm aware of. Sorry I failed to mention the steel height as well. For me it wasn't an issue, but I can certainly understand where you wouldn't want it. Perhaps LS5G would be an option for you when it's available. Pretty sure @TheGoalNet's review of the 2S skates said 5G was taller than the 3G... but not sure it's as dramatic as Tydan or Step.

Tydan Stainless is a higher grade than stock Bauer yes... and for my two cents... although judging by you comment on the price you may not take me up on this... I suggest the DLC. I've noticed a significant reduction in the number of times I need sharpenings as well as generally holding the edge very well even when kicking posts.
  15. AND on the PP?? I guess this proved that you can't say the guys don't play together in front of you... seems like they're on the same page.

If my fit were right for you I'd gladly send them your way. Might not hurt to throw up a post asking. Surely someone out there bought a pair that would fit they could part with for a little while.

Not sure of the actual dimensions... and yes they look like something a hipster hockey player would wear... but if they're the same size as CCM 13A... totally worth it.
  18. Start off w/ a teaser like "... that will come in another video, so check that out." and then leave the box there the whole time... @Hills knows how to keep 'em hungry for more. Congrats on the new pillows and the new house.
  19. I really would recommend them. The three biggest things I noticed from my old V5s... Lack of inner thigh blocks helps close 5 hole better... no more door stops. Come up higher than my old pants... integrate with my C/A better than before. Overall protection... layered protection instead of big chunky blocks.
  20. The listing is down on GoalieMonkey but it listed sizes by waist... I think it was pretty true. I have a 32" waist and I could see Fit 1 being good up to 34" as they posted. @ruckus007 had posted "fit 4 seems to feel similar to the XL pants, I would assume fit 3 = Large, Fit 2 = Medium..."
  21. Need some more time in mine before i do a full review... but I'm completely sold on the new slimmer fit of the 13A.

Please tell me i'm not the only one who read that and immediately said to myself... "That's what she said." Also... with no firsthand knowledge whatsoever... I say go for it. If the price is right it's worth a shot.
  23. Impressive. So you bought the STI for the 2.5L over the WRX 2.0L... then replaced every other engine component. Fun project. Any chance you've added some pots to the brakes? On second thought you'd better not tell me in case you did... then I'll waste the 1/2 work day I have left when not looking at goal equipment checking out new brake setups. I do appreciate you giving me a data point for when I start talking about modifying the Forester XT more and my wife gives me that look though. Had a stage 2 2012 WRX which I loved... but got rid of when we had twins. Only real work (outside of some JDM cosmetics) I've done to it is completely gutting the suspension so it could handle like the WRX frame that it is. With summer stickies on it's not quite one rails... but light years better than a stock Forester... and looks better to boot. Perhaps we should move this conversation to the lifestyles... but good work... on both pad selections and the subie. Keep the posts coming.
