  1. 5'10" and using 27.5" Passau... roughly 25.5" in terms of Warrior or Sherwood.
  2. I guess that's another aspect of HALs... you're able to slide on a sleeve as they're just knotted at each end instead of sewn in.
  3. I totally agree with you (@Punisher Goalie) on the product agility of HALs with the adjustable length, but wish their shock cord was a heavier gauge. That's one of the reasons I've gone back to Pro Laces. I'll give it a try tonight and see how it does. Middle of the road league, so it's as close as a beer league practice gets. Lets me try stuff like this out w/o any real ramifications. I appreciate the notes back.
  4. I do like the lace attachment... so obvious to change a lace I feel less than smart for not thinking of it earlier. Also with Tydan Steel being ordered today (and photo credit to @Mroy31, I hope you don't mind I piggy backed your image) I've been playing around with where to lace the Pro Laces through my holder. In Green is where I have been, and it felt sorta tight (relative to my HALs they're going to anyway) but in Blue is where I plan on trying this evening. Any other suggestions?
  5. I can’t speak to toe-hook... but Pro Laces are worth a shot as are HALs. Let me know if you want to try a set of HALs. I have a blank set (used for a week or two) and a fresh unused set of the ones shown above with a little inspirational phrase. I won’t use, just DM me your address if you’re interested.
  6. After playing like a dumpster fire last evening I decided a change is needed... if nothing else to make me feel like i'm doing something. So having looked over my equipment in the locker room as I could only look down... I found a frayed HAL toe strap... they're fired!!! Pro Laces are getting the call back up from the locker to the show. But this time... I'm taking the advise of @TheGoalNet and using a waxed lace to tie them in and avoid more toe cap scratches. Enjoy the pictures from this afternoon's working lunch... A little inspirational phrase for @IPv6Freely on the outgoing HALs... The offending tear (hard to get a good pic)... Pro Laces and waxed skate lace (not sure why I had a black set lying around, I wear yellow in my skates)... No screws... just pull the lace through... Tighten down... Confirm the front face is flat... Snip snip and a lighter to melt the ends... like a surgeon... Done... (@TheGoalNet note my number is 41 next to you're getting custom equipment you're looking to sell)... I do know that some will as why I didn't put the knots outside and keep the inside a nice flat surface against my toe cap... the answer is I was feeling superficial and just liked the clean look on the outside.
  7. Oh Monster Hockey... what won't you slap some Hook and Loop on? I've never tried them, but good alternative solution.
  8. Solid Red... will these be finding their way onto the new Optiks??? Also, I think I need to come up with a logo for myself. It'll probably be lame, but it can't be any worse than the random inspirational phrases I've been using in a sad attempt to convince myself they have some powerful reminder message that allows me to clear my head and focus on the "task" at hand. I appreciate the reply. Maybe it's because they're based in Quebec... maybe I just like the construction & tension more... but I think I have a soft spot for Pro Laces over HALs. No knock on HALs on either front... just personal preference.
  9. @TheGoalNet I saw that post on IG... good thought. I had the same issue as @Big2's son with Pro Laces, and I also had significant wear on the shock cord itself, which could have been a result of the Vertexx Cowlings I thrown on my Graf boot at the time. I went and bought a couple sets of HALs but definitely more interested in trying the Pro Laces Armor. Anyone out there have a set already and can speak to comparing it w/ the original Pro Laces and HALs?
  10. I'm doing something wrong. Most games I'm just happy to have 10 guys in the locker room with me... let alone a team photographer.
  11. Who has a project this evening.... THIS GUY!! Pictures to be loaded upon completion.
  12. @SaveByRichter35 thanks for the post and the pictures. I decided not to mess with mojo (as i've almost been playing decent) and stay untucked... but still added a nylon loop to the back of my pants. I'll add the strap to my c/a and give it a whirl in a Tuesday night skate just to see how it feels. Not sure if untucked with a back strap really work well together or not. I'll post some pics too of how strange the buckle even breaking in the first place was. Makes me think I should start facing the puck and not let it hit my back as often (that's the only way I can think of this particular buckle breaking.) Also... applause for Amazon Same Day.. ordered the new buckles and had them in time to slap on before I went out the door Thursday.
  13. So I know I'm quoting myself here... but looking for some advice. Tuesday evening my C/A felt sorta loose (even for being untucked) and upon closer inspection, the bottom clip on my back had broken. It did get me thinking though, maybe this is an opportunity to go back to tucking? I have new clips being delivered today (amazon prime same day... slow clap) and can adjust my suspenders to accommodate the tuck in time for this evening's tilt. I'll tie the front of the chest to my pants through the stock loop, but I was considering throwing on a Passau style pant strap. If I do that though, do I even need suspenders? Thoughts???
  14. Does anyone use pants w/ integrated knee padding? Not sure why but they never appealed to me.
  15. Makes sense as they have the varying thicknesses and new weight reduction with sheets that are cut into squares and perforated. Could be very interesting if they ever decide to go down that path, although the lead time would likely be measured in months. Personally I'm leaning towards picking up a Verbero at the moment.
  16. @TheGoalNet I love the additional specs... I wouldn't want to pay for the resulting shirt more than likely... but definitely good additions to the specs. @Jukka Ropponen if this could be made at a moderate price (or lets say $100 or less) I'll be your first customer.

    CCM Gear

@TheGoalNet I checked with some friends who pretty much live on the dark web (and in their parent's basements) and the word on the street is that the substance on the tip of the straps is unicorn semen. I like that it doesn't fray, but I'll pass.
  18. @Jukka Ropponen That is exactly the right question!! My main areas of concern for protection are the following... Clavicle Sternum Side (Ribs) It seems like many on the market either answer 2 of those only, or try to do all 3 and do it poorly. The Verbero (Dan Farrell) looks pretty stout, but would like yo see a 2-3 columns of blocks extend down the sternum further. Shock Doctor, CCM, and even Bauer seem to have padding in name only. Are they all more padded than no padding at all, yes, but their ability to actually dissipate an impact is lacking. I certainly don't want it to feel like a second C/A... but more thought into the padding material itself, where it's placed, and how.
  19. I love it!! The detail on the throw back Brian's logo is a nice touch as are the faux shin straps. With all of the manufacturers focusing on weight reduction lately, sets like this with sewn details will become more and more rare. I'm all for technology, but there has to be a place for craftsmanship like this too. For me, at this point of playing beer league I've given up matching sets to a certain team etc. Brown, Bucky, Retro Tan, they all go with nothing and therefore go with everything.
  20. Thanks for the insight @Jukka Ropponen. I think I jinxed myself with this post as I ended up taking one off the ribs on a sharp angle shot last night.
  21. @motowngoalie Winner winner... and on the first effort. I didn't really put a prize out there... but how about a cup of coffee and a doughnut next time I'm in Detroit?
  22. Good eye... WJD. Wasn't the best purchase I ever made, but love my Wall now. If it weren't for twin toddlers who feel the need for me to not only feed them and encourage growth, but also expect new clothes and shoes when they do grow, I'd probably have the Wall painted as well. (Or maybe wrapped.)
  23. Ha. Airheadz Customs painted a while back... guy by the name of Jay Ferguson. I just sent him a few books I had with some pictures tagged. Told him a grey scale and whatever he wanted to do from there. Sits on a bookshelf now as the chin started to delaminate. Nice to look at though.
  24. Wearing a plain white Wall W6 now, but this was my last paint job...an homage to some tendy heros. Anyone want to take a shot at naming everyone?
