What can I say, I'm super lazy! If I could find a valet to carry my bags, I would!
-
Not sure of any sales, but I bought a Vaughn wheeled bag about 5yrs ago and I'm still using it. Nothing wrong with it, no repairs needed/done. Paid about $150 for it.

I like the idea and where they are going with it. There are a few goalie training options on Steam for VR systems and a few are even free (even if they are not free, it's a one time payment of $20 or less). I just can't justify $69 a month for this since it would be only me using it. Seeing how rinks are opening back up (here atleast) that would be 4 stick n puck sessions ( 1 1/2hrs each) every month.

This is what they weighed in at when I got them. V8 Pads: 4.87 lbs

One summer league has ended and we took 1st. Overall record: 12-2-1 We were the "Snot Rockets". Logo attached as well. -
@Doobiesnax Legs took around 2 1/2 months. Glove/blocker order (in the same email) got "lost" and didn't get made. After making a few phone calls, it took under 3 weeks for them to get made and in my hands.
-
Tuesday the 19th my glove and blocker came in! Sadly, I had to go out of town for a tourny so couldn't post till now. So here we go! (FYI, these pics are before I've done any game time OR breaking them in with.) We'll start with the blocker. It feels really good and super solid. Like I can stop a car with it solid. The ends of the fingers have mesh (also a close up) so the hand is going to breathe really well. Two big changes that are new to me that are going to take some getting use to. 1. The palm of the glove (there's a close up of it) has a grippy texture to it. Wondering how that's going to affect the sliding of the hand on the stick. 2. The gap in the thumb protection to the actual blocker part is smaller than my V7's. On the plus side, there is NO chance of launching the stick like a spear (the knob will not go through that gap) and again, there's a close up. Now the glove. Like the blocker, this thing feels solid. Just by the feel of it, it's going to have to be a really hard shot to give a stinger, so that's going to be welcome. Took a close up of the inside padding so you can see how thick it is (and it gets thicker in the palm area). That padding also has a texture to it so shouldn't be any glove sliding. There are 3 internal straps to mess around with to get the hold just right. The back-hand protection flap has a strap but that in no way, obviously, affects the tightness of the glove to the hand/wrist. That's all for now. When I get the glove broke in and get some on ice play time with the full setup, will update again with more thoughts.

@Aquilzz Right below where it says "velocity" in the leg channel, you can see the boot riser in the boot channel. It's from PAW products if your curious. My home testing I tried that strap both loose and tight and found that I liked it tight better. But thanks for the heads up!

My legs are in, will be using them for the first time this coming monday (no shots, just skating in them so I can get used to the feel, tighten straps, etc.) and will also use them on tuesday in the game I have that night. Will give a better review after a couple of uses. Out of the box, I can say these feel way lighter than my V7's. I like the concept of the strapping they have, but it's going to take some getting used to as I've only ever used leather straps, so I'm excited to try this. The only change that I've made is the toe tie and a 1/2" boot riser. It was a standard bridge with laces. Took that off and put HAL's on (also a first for me). The boot riser I got for my V7's and loved it so thought would have another set ready for the V8's to put on immediately. Note: The pictures are not the best. Also, glove and blocker had an order problem (they lost my order for them) but legs (on the same email and the 3rd attachment) went through just fine. Oh well, crap happens. They put a rush on it so should be here in 3'ish weeks.

Both of my teams are craft breweries sponsered. Rocket Republic and Campus 805. Both make some really great beers. Since the menu is always changing, can't say there is a specific at each. I just get what they made that month. In the parking lot though, it's usually whatever is cheapest and cold.

@Md30 Nope. Also never went to a camp till a year ago lol. I was a defenseman in HS and played for Lakeville HS 95-97. In 97-98 I was on a travel team in Alabama.
-
@Md30 I grew up just south of you! The Otter Lake/North Lake area. Would have been cool if we had played HS hockey against each other, but you were two years ahead of me. Anyhow, welcome to the forums!

Joonas Korpisalo of the Columbus Blue Jackets is using the VE8's. Noticed it tonight in the Bruins/Jackets game.

So season ended today. GBU (team in black) where I'm the tendy, we won the championship. The other team (bottom row 2nd from left) where I skate out, we also won the championship. Was a really fun season with both teams. -
Mine should be here in the next 2 weeks. Will post plenty of pictures and will keep a running update on how everything performs/feels. @ULTIMA I havn't seen anyone in the NHL wearing them (don't follow AHL) yet. Personally, I didn't mind the graphic but didn't really like it either. What I DON'T like is the VE8 logo. Personally, it looks stupid.

Looked at Goalie Monkey and they have the legs, glove, and blocker for sale now with customizer to play around with. Full set:$2559,99.00 https://www.goaliemonkey.com/new-items/vaughn-goalie-equipment-combo-velocity-ve8-pro-carbon-sr-custom.html
-
The VE8 youth and junior lines deliver in a week though. I put in an order on monday and they came in yesterday. Can't speak for custom order though, the youth gear I got was just stock.
-
@estogoalie Going by looks alone, I'd go with the black/red/white over the yellow/blue/white. Other than that, don't know anything about the V4's.
-
So got my order in and it'll take 8-9 weeks for the custom order. Didn't do anything fancy, went pretty much all black (never had all black, thought it'd be fun to try) and went to a double break. Prices listed below are after the 10 or 15% discount I got. Legs $1,530.00 Glove $465.00 (went with the game glove, not the XP that has the extra padded palm, figured thats the practice glove) Blocker $335.00
-
Dumb question: Does the break really matter? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I'm genuinely asking. I tried on Brians, CCM, Vaughn, and Bauer gloves to see which felt the best on my hand. I know that each has a different break. But honestly, I didn't really feel a difference besides how hard/easy they were to close (keep in mind, these are on the shelf gloves that hadn't been broken in or heat molded and also take into account all I was looking for was protection and how the glove sat on my hand).

No team pic yet to put up. Currently I'm tending in D3 (lowest level of the 3 levels we have) and we are 8-1-1 and in first place by 3 pts. The 2nd team I'm on (same league) is in D2 and there I play center but drop back to D as needed. For this team we are 7-1-2 and are either tied for first or in first. Our seasons are short, only 15 games and the play offs are double elimination. D3 has 8 teams, D2 has 6 teams, and D1 has 4. -
@Murray Thank you for that, I did not know the SLRs had them.
