Oddside is the bomb! The brewery is about a 90 minute drive from my cottage and I plan on hitting it up this summer.   My usual summer road trip is to Holland Mi to get some Dragon's Milk straight from the source, but I think Oddside is going to get the nod this year.

I live about 30 minutes from the BrewDog brewery in Columbus, and their Elvis Juice is my daily driver.

Lucky Pucker, I'm down for a Tshirt for sure.  Maybe a jersey...

They have a BrewDog in Columbus? I thought they were only in Scotland? I have also enjoyed the Elvis Juice before, thunkyavurrehmuch!

I was in a band and we were doing a recording session with a hipster. He was such a twat! He never admitted when he did things wrong. I wanted to kill that little cunt!!!!

    I also hate hipsters!

I'll place the order for our t-shirts. What's the site's membership up to now? About 650...?

  4. Hipsters seldom (if ever) self identify as such (because I guess it's not cool to say that you're trying to be cool by purposely not being cool - in a cool way...? I don't know, it's such a complicated paradox of being... and beardedness.) However, the shitty parts of town are periodically given new names, and they can't help themselves. They flock to those parts in ironic t-shirt wearing droves, paying stupidly high rent from their barista salaries or whatever the fuck they do for money, going around pretentiously saying "I live in Hintonburg"  when everyone knows it's just Mechanicsville - or Hipsterville now. So ultimately, hipsters are mostly restricted to de-facto hipster ghettos in certain parts of town here in Ottawa.

It's not a perfect system, but it works.

Nope! I live in Michigan. I have been a Sens fan since 1993 though. So when I got the mask painted I asked for a Sens theme with Animal from the Muppets. Got some sketches and I liked it!

Don't worry, people ask me why I am a Sens fan all the time.

Wow - well that brings my very scientific survey of "Sens fans who live outside of Ottawa" tally to a staggering total of... 1.

In a related survey (because: science) of the number of Sens fans who have a good hockey-based reason to be a Sens fan - within Ottawa and without - stands at zero :giggle:

    Hey All,

Came over from GSBB and decide to post some gear that no one will most likely care about, since my pads are from 2008 or so, and they're still holding up great and I love em!

Pete Smith 35+1 pads (pic was taken when I first got em, if they were this clean still you would I am REALLY bad ?)

    SmithPads004.jpg

And here is my mask I got painted around 2011 from Headstrong, I believe this is when they first began, mine might have been one of the first few masks? Not sure.

    IMAG0072.jpg

    IMAG0075.jpg

All my old gear is still going strong!

Dude - are you in Ottawa? Some very specific images on your mask that I can’t imagine someone NOT in Ottawa would have.

  7. I am a total beer snob; I ONLY drink beers that have water, hops, barley and yeast. On this, I am completely unwavering!

  8. So I was warned by the physio, but yeah; on the second day, this M-C-Effin’-L sprain hurts worse. But look - it’s beer o’clock!

Juicy Ass by Flying Monkeys (insert joke here). The poor waitresses who work at bars with this on tap... can’t even imagine the lines about this beer they’ve had to hear from emboldened and inebriated patrons...

Its nice to get new gear, used gear always has that smell to it

Smell (and puck marks) that aren’t your own, and that don’t tell your story? Yeah, I hear ya.

  11. So I got good news and bad news today.

Good news: hockey won’t be interfering with my beering for the next several weeks.

Bad news: felt a pop in a goalmouth scramble last night. Finished the game (in some discomfort, and at the cost of some VERY soft goals, and a proportionate amount of pride). Saw a Physiotherapist today, and I am the lucky winner of a grade 1 MCL sprain/minor tear.  Out for at least 4 weeks.

    :shakehead:

Had a couple of Collective Arts’ Ransack the Universe IPAs tonight to dull the pain (of not being able to play).

I'm a pretty big beer geek. I've been trying desperately to get my hands on some Filthy Flow IPA from Mikkeller, but no luck. Talk about some kick ass label art!

Holy shit! This one has a 4.27 average rating on Untappd! Must be a damned good one (though the 42 IBUs is surprisingly low).

    cheers,

  13. I’m only having one, as I’m playing tonight. Sunday pickup really fucks up my beer consumption... I mean, my ability to support local small business.

Anyway, the beer today is Hops & Robbers Grapefruit IPA by Double Trouble brewing.

    Into craft brews, especially stouts.

For the stouts I really enjoyed so far...
    - Le Castor
    - Glutenberg
    - Beaus Cherry Stout
    - St-Ambroise
    - Murphys
    - Mill St. Cobblestone

Also trying to find the right tasting non-alcoholic beer for those days I don't feel like a knock in the head or liver. Super Bock is a good one so far. I did enjoy this one below, but the company stopped making it :(

Ooooh! Le Castor does good work! Big fan!

given your tastes, you might like Dominion City Lost Train oatmeal stout. Very nice, and local (they’re in Gloucester/east end of Ottawa)

I miss the hell out of beer. But being post op with post-op pain killers, beer is a 10 million % no go! Beer was a no go at the worst of my gut troubles, as well. If I can

But what does the ol’ rabbit like?

    1) Stella Artois

    2) Kronenberg

    3) Boddingtons

    4) Blue Moon

    5) Original Coors

    6) Budweiser

    7) King Cobra Premium Malt Liquor

    ? Bud Select

    9) Bud Light

    10) Rolling Rock

    11) my local microbrewers have a slough of great beers that will make me such a fan that I get a growler of it! Really- that answer should go at slot #4. I am very adventurous! But not right now :(

Damn - as I went to post, I was thinking “shit... bunnyman probably isn’t pinting up at the mo’...Maybe this is a tad insensitive...” Glad to see your favs listed just the same!

  19. So I’m not suggesting that there is a correlation between beer and hockey; I’m straight up saying it. I love both. Sure, maybe there’s years of conditioning behind it, via big brewer advertising, but whatever.

So what beer are you drinking? What beer did you/will you/do you drink?

Had a great pick up game today (only allowed 4!) Celebrating right now with a “life in the clouds” a hazy NEIPA by Collective Arts. Of course, had I let in 10 or more, it would have been consolation instead of celebration- but the beer would be the same! Lol!

    Welcome!

That Brian’s set up is sweet. Almost too nice to use for puck stopping! Lol!

30 years a goalie... my hat is off to you. I’m only about 29 years and 10 months behind you.

    No I don’t. Sorry.

No worries! Thanks for checking just the same!

I tape the edges of my paddles for this reason chiefly.

You should be fine with some tape.

I'd love to see a pic of what you mean, but you probably don't have that at your ready disposal presently...? Is it just a thin strip then, the entire length of both the top and bottom of the paddle?

  23. 14 minutes ago, TheGoalNet said:

Very standard issue wear. You could put tape or epoxy over it if your very concerned about the wear

So standard wear... just like a real goalie! I’ve made it at last!

    Cheers for the reassurance @TheGoalNet.
