So far from what I've read about the glove looks good, but, I really need to try one for myself before committing. I really loved the GT1.

    Also, wasn't the GT1 just a single inner/outer break? Is the GT2 stock 2 internal/1 external? @Kirk3190

The internal break design is a single internal (at the top) with the Torsional flex breaks below the knee and at the ankle.  The primary (internal) difference between GT2 & GT is added HyperComp in the thigh rise for increased stability and stopping power in the 5-Hole.  Also, GT2 has an HD foam face from top to bottom whereas GT had LD foam face top to bottom.  This gives off much harder & faster rebounds.

Goaliemonkey will have stock retail full black weave sets.

The hockey Shop in BC has black with white outer rolls.

There are some UNREAL special colorways coming from retailers this year in the GT2.  I am pumped for everyone to see them!

@Kirk3190 Will weave be on the "stock" retail sets?  I'm hoping for an all black weave or mostly black weave for a stock option.  Thanks.

We (Warrior) did not stock any sets with weave.  Several retailers chose to create their own sets using weave.  Pretty soon they'll be up on websites and you can shop around all of the new colorways coming with it!

Has it maintained or improved the same level of mobility?

In most areas the mobility has maintained great like it was on R/GT.  Where I would say it has improved the most is in & around the neck/shoulder area.  The new floater design makes it much easier to look over your shoulder at pucks behind the net and in the RVH position.

@Kirk3190 If it's not too late to take suggestion for the blocker, I strongly recommend making it in the "high" position permanently. It feels more balanced, better on the paddle down and avoids trying to locate the 100+ velcro attachments to undo and reposition. Doing this was a task beyond what I expected lolll.

And one other thing, how the hell do you guys grab your water bottle with the blocker? I got the SR GT and it's a friggin' struggle e-v-e-r-y time 😟

Our plan is to continue using the MID setting as our stock placement.  If you're having difficulty grabbing your water bottle, try adjusting the thumb.  Not only can you move it up or down, but you can also move it in/out from the board.  My thought is if you move it out slightly it should free up more space for it to fit between the thumb and index/sidewall.

Seriously!  I'd planned to replace my OG Ritual C/A with the older R/GT unit when it went on clearance.   Now I'm going to have some thinking to do.  😥  Dammit Warrior, quit making nice things!

    No.

I saw it already. The glove closes WAY better. I actually liked it more than the GT (it felt weird on my hand). THe palm is beefy with some extra padding over the break area too. Blocker's about the same. I had a chance to also inspect the new chesty and I think it's going to be a big hit. The arms are well beefed up at the forearm and bicep, elbow floaters have TWO flaps instead of the usual 1, and the heart/stomach pad is now a proper, significant center piece. There's also a lot of little details around that helps with long term wear areas, etc.

Hell. You should hit me up and we should go see this TOGETHER

The GT2 chest is going to impress a lot of goalies.  My "opinion" probably doesn't carry much clout being that I wear a Warrior hat everyday to work but, once you see the GT2 in person its blatantly obvious that the protection level is  the best on the market.

I don't understand your question - there is no one area of your hand slipping out, the entire hand slips out. When you release and open the glove back up, you feel the urge to use your other hand to push it back onto your hand and wrist. It wasn't just one opinion.

the only way to correct it (I feel) is there need to be a a strap of some sort at the knuckle area to secure and stabilize your hand in the glove but there isn't. There are others in other areas but as much as we played around with it and tried getting it secure, the same thing kept happening.

Thank you for your feedback.  I will pass along your comments about the knuckle area in particular to our design team.  I hope you decide to take the GT2 trapper out on the ice for a Demo.

Having a more open knuckle area is in part what allows the trapper to open and close easily.  Materials/Straps over the knuckle area (break area) can become restrictive to the snappiness of the trapper.  For any goalies who are curious, the finger gusset design (internally) is no different than the R/GT.  So, if you didn't find it to be problematic in the past it's likely you won't on the R/GT2 either.

The glove on the new GT2 is questionable. We got our demo set and myself along with other associates agree that when you snap the glove shut, you hand is being pushed backward out of the glove. Cranked the straps, mucked around with it and still felt like your hand was slipping out. I think that design needs to be tweaked.

Anyone considering buying that glove, please do not buy blind and try it on beforehand.

Could you be more specific about which area of the hand you feel is slipping out?  It's the first I have heard of this & I am certain there is a way to counter it.  Thanks.

Got to look at the glove blocker and pads first hand as well on the weekend. Couple of things to note, the pads felt good and you can really tell that the upper portion is much stiffer now with the addition of the Hypercomp. I am currently in a senior pair of GT's since release and they have been holding up surprisingly well. The thigh rises have become a little soft but overall no complaints. Other than that the pads looked good and will be going that route.

Ive only used the Pro gloves starting off with a G3 then moving to the GT a few months ago. I prefer the non removable liner in the GT but found the GT2 much different feeling. I prop my current GT open after each use and is on par with a frying pan which is how I like it. The GT2 I tried on did not appear to be able to open as wide but I am sure it was just because it was new and would take a little "persuading". The angle is definitely different feeling from the current GT and the G4 but I would get used to it.

As for the blocker, I'm currently in a Pro G3 and didnt notice much difference there besides the GT2 feeling a little snugger on the hand.

My only gripe with the Warrior pads is the sizing. I've always been in a 36 Vaughn/35 CCM and the issue I have with the Warrior is that the knee landing definitely runs lower than other brands. I'm usually at the very top of the knee landing and have fallen off numerous times despite trying every strapping combo. The best bet was to run the boot strap through the Lundy loop on my skates however I just dont like the feel and prefer through the bottom of the skate. I imagine this is due to the break of the pads and how the knee landings are angled downwards. This will force me to go custom order on the next set. I am currently in a 36+1.5 and with the overall height being perfect, I will need to order a 36.5 +1 to get that knee landing a bit higher.

Leg Pad sizing can be confusing at times.  Also, as some other goalies have mentioned you can manipulate the sizing with incremental changes like how you position a heel strap.  Here is a blog we did on sizing a while back that clearly notes how we tackle sizing.

The biggest take home message I have is that our sizing runs by 0.5" in the knee (see blog for visual).  If you are currently wearing 36" leg pads and want the knee stack to be 0.5" taller - You'd simply go to our 37" knee size.  -- This is not the case with every brand.  Some brands move their knee sizes by full 1.0" increments.  In our opinion, this results in missed opportunities for proper fit.  Going by 0.5" increments at the knee/shin gives goalies more options to dial in their fit.

And here I was thinking I had already decided on new pads. The lack of weave was my biggest issue with the G4 pads. So glad it's here now!

There's more than just white & black weave coming too.. 👀

So irritating that we don't have any try-out days, or are spoiled with hockey shops over here. Warrior doesn't even get sold in Belgium. The only option I have to try the new glove is order it online somewhere... I'm super interested in how I would like this glove. I have a G3 now with a 60 degree liner and I wonder how it compares to the new GT2.

I understand what you mean.  Always great when you can try something on first!

Being that you like the G3 60-Degree I can somewhat generalize that you prefer pinching your thumb to your index finger for closure.  This type of feeling will be enhanced with the new forward thumb positioning on GT2.  Lastly, the GT2 does not have a removable liner but you can custom order it with 60-Degree internal on Custom.

    Hope this information helps!

    I have 2 questions.

1.)Since there are no NHL, AHL, ECHL, level goalies, who do you target to demo pro level equipment?

2.) Who do you target to demo senior level equipment? Ive heard that Warriors Senior Level pads and gloves are like the pros at half the price, i cant attest to the pads or gloves, but i can confidently say that I feel more protected in my senior g4 than i did w my XF non pro carbon chest protector.

    Great questions.

    1. We work extensively with over 30 European Pro Goalies each season.  Unlike a lot of cases in the NHL, EU goalies typically get one set of gear to last them an entire season.  Bigger clubs will sometimes get their goalies a second set or at least a practice trapper.  This gives us very in-depth durability and performance feedback directly from the Pros.  Over the past year and current season we've had a handful of goalies in the ECHL, SPHL, USHL & FHL wearing our equipment as well.   I work with these goalies throughout the year and they also testify to the positive results we've seen each year with our gear.

    2. Senior level gear typically gets tested internally within our company.  As you mentioned, our SR level gear externally & spec-wise often mirrors our Pro models with the main differentiation being internal materials/make-up.  So, if a Pro level leg pad passes our testing protocols at the professional levels there is no reason the SR level would not stack up the exact same (externally).

Sure looks that way.  @Kirk3190 any info as to why the break change?

@cwarnar @coopaloop1234 The new GT2 trapper has the same break degree as the G4 but it is not the same glove (minus removable liner) by any means.  Easy for me to say as I've been wearing one for over a year now while I know it's not hit stores yet for goalies to try for themselves.  I don't want to regurgitate the above Tech Diagrams but I cannot overstate it enough how much of a game changer the new thumb shape is.  This too, is something difficult to describe over a keyboard but I'll do my best to paint the picture for everyone.

Hold your hand out in front of you on it's side so your thumb is at the top & in line with your index finger.  This is close to how your hand is positioned inside a G4 trapper.  Now "let go" of your thumb and it will naturally shift to the right a little bit.  This is more comfortable because your thumb is not being held in a tense position.  This is a depiction of how the new GT2 trapper feels on your hand compared to a G4.  In addition, your thumb is now in a better position to snap the glove shut.

Lastly, the new pocket on the GT2 trapper is massive.  It's not just because of the Double Tee either.  We made the actual pocket itself bigger.  It's the biggest pocket we've ever released on ANY Ritual glove to date.  I wear a Warrior hat every day, but in my personal opinion this is the best trapper we've ever made.  I'm excited for goalies to finally get to try it and fall in love with it like I have.

Loving the look of this chest protector.  I have the current GT Pro and completely love it.  Prefect blend of protection and mobility.

@Kirk3190 are there suspender straps on the floaters?

They are not suspender loops on the shoulder.

@Thatwentin!? nice work!! Can Warrior do add-ons like that? I've been wondering since I saw the red maple leaf on Shannon Szabados' G4's for the Olympics (it's near the bottom of the outer roll). @Kirk3190 any insight on that by chance....?

We did embroider the red maple leaf on Shannon's Olympic R/G4 set.  For now, it's just something we're offering to Pro & College level goaltenders.

Question: Does the bump in the boot chanel affect the measurements (F2K) when sizing up for pads? According to mine (21"), I should be a 36+, but that bump in the photo looks like a boot riser...??

Not really. In most cases the heel strap plays a bigger factor in how the pad fits/sits on your leg.  In a tight setting where you put the heel strap below your skate/cowling could lower the knee a little bit.  In a loose setting positioned behind your boot/loop  would lift the pad and sit a little higher on your leg.

With the G4's launching soon, it looks like pretty much everyone is out of stock of the G3 replacement elastic strap Kits (at least for Sr. Sizing).

@Kirk3190, I'm under the impression that the G4 strap kits are the same as the G3's. Any idea when those will become available?

Correct - Strap kits for G3, GT, G4 are universal across all three models.  When more will be available depends on each store's order.  I would expect more to hit shelves in May.

I'm sure @Kirk3190is the best fit to answer this officially... But velcro will always eventually wear out.  I have it on my vest for work and the fuzzy (loop) side always wears quicker.  But I'm using it 5-6 times a day, for a 12 hour shift.  Strapping for the pads is only happing 1-2 times, a few times a week max.  And I'm sure they're using high grade commercial hook and loop velcro.

All of which I'm assuming was wear tested for months before the product is launched.

Plus who keeps their gear long enough to wear out the velcro!?!?!?!

We've got original G3 test sets built in 2013 that are still going strong on their original velcro.  This has not been an issue for any sets both long term prototype or sets in the market.  One little tidbit I like to pass along to goalies is to always strap your pads up after you take them off.  As you carry them in/out of the rink, in/out of the car or toss them in your basement, it's good to have the velcros secured rather than open to catch against shirts, jerseys, carpet etc.  Small detail, but one that I think makes a big difference over time!

Here's something that bugs me concerning Warrior sticks. I went looking for some specials and although I didn't buy one of these but have used the same model last year, I find it alarming the discrepancy in correct measurement and fabrication. It's the Warrior foam core Quick model. Both sticks are identified as 26" with a 14 lie, yet they are clearly not the same length. And this is not the first time I've noticed it with your sticks. I have an Emery model that is identified as a 27.5" but was no longer than my then 26" Quick.

This leads me to wonder if any of your sticks are true to size? Have I been using a 26", or rather a 25", or maybe even a 27"? Brings confusion where it shouldn't, especially for the newbies in the position.

This is likely just a mislabeling by the factory.  We no longer produce sticks at this factory.

Quick question... with G3 Warrior custom pad option with no break, do the pads come out of the box (before we try to bend them) significantly more straight compare to the standard 1-break pads?

Also is "no-break" option just no break on the external vertical-roll, or will there also be no break internally? Say on G2 pro with single-break I have, there's a break on the vertical-roll, and a break behind internally.

The pads do not come "significantly" more straight compared to the standard single break option.  They will be slightly straighter and maintain a straighter shape over time.  The profile of the pad (outer gusset) will be the same as any other G3 pad.

Correct, the no break option is an external feature.  The internal core of the pad will be double break.

I'm hearing that was with the 1st gen moreso than the anything (as with any 1st gen item).
With second gen i heard there was less breakage, and the arm design looked sturdier (and plates on biceps looked to be a bit better made with a change in outer material choice)

We came out with a new bar on the G1 as a running change.   At the time, we sent out the new bar to anyone who owned a G1 with the original bar. It corrected the issue and has proven to be much more durable.  We used the new bar on the G2 unit as well, no issues.  We still have the same concept of construction as G1 but as you noted, the G2 has EVA foam (elbow floater) and uppermost bicep encased with nylon.  On G1 we found some goalies mentioning the exposed EVA elbow floater rubbing against the upper bicep plastic with slight friction.  Having Nylon-on-Nylon eliminated the friction for even better mobility.  It was proven as a successful change on G2 which is why we incorporated it into the G4 as well.

@Kayen That's the reason I hear people doing it as well, I did it to get a less restrictive feeling. When the landing area is attached, it felt a lot stiffer that what I would've liked. I may try it again as I've broken in the pads (did this after about 10 skates back when they were released).

Mnw0ng on YouTube mentioned a bit from fraying, but nothing really to worry too much about. I had some spare velcro loops that I placed over top to make sure there wasn't any fraying.

Lowering your strap down to your calf opens up the knee cradle to allow for less interference in your rotation/comfort reasons. While you can strap it tight this way, behind the knee will allow it to be even tighter.

Honestly, you can strap em down to the calf and you shouldn't experience any negative ability to bring your knees and stacks together.

I would recommend trying the Sling Wrap in the setting down to your calf instead of around your knee as well.  When you try this, remove the outside knee wings from the knee area so they're out of the way during play.
