  1. Yeah ive been an elastic user since back in the day, being an in line goalie ive had to find different ways of strapping pads over the yrs These just need a bit of break in and dialing in. They rotate better than the gt for sure, they just feel bulky. Doesnt matter atm now as ive got an mcl sprain or worse
  2. Its 100% strapping. More the toe tie The tie is offset which pulled the boot out, they rotated well actually, with the straps tighter or loose. They just felt stiff on the leg. The knees blocks also larger than the gt vesrion, which feels to add to the illusion of bulk. I have a second training tonight, im going to try something else toe tie wise
  3. So i tried the g5 tonight, really didnt go down well Felt so awkward, bulky and just wouldn't sit right on my leg
  4. Agree, you dont see top straps to often anymore Im bot in the market for pads, just thought it would be a good topic I would love a set of optiks though
  5. I use warrior stuff atm, which as snr gear is softer When you get older and loose flexibility, and hip rage you need more flex in a pad, doesn't have to be soft but needs to flex
  6. Just watching bones unbox his new pads and it got me thinking, The new generation of pads are all very stiff boards made for people who are 6ft plus with no hip sockets. Then i got to thinking what about us old gits who dont bend to well anymore?? I recently unboxed and sent back warrior g5 and bauer 3s, both stiff pads, So bar the vast sizing jump, what pads are there available now that are softer, more flexible? You look at bauer, the vapor is stiff, ccm the efelex is stiff, even vaughns are stiff now. Are we destined to buying old pairs of beat up pads for e

    Warrior G5

so finally had my first skate out in the g5 gloves, first skate since early march, was fun..ive learnt my knees still not healed from running, the gloves are a nice upgrade from the g4, i like the tighter strapping on the catcher, undecided if the coverage plus does anything, the blocker is more poppy than the g4, all in all nice upgrade, still debating a g5 pad upgrade over the gt pads i have
  8. yeah, i think its common knowledge that ccm run bigger, but what im getting at is in 15yrs my pad size has shrunk 5" lol
  9. its such a shame on the sizing thing, been there myself in brians, made that expensive mistake, i dont understand such a radical change in sizing, ive been a grown adult for a while now, and when i got my first new pads they were the vaughn v2 in a 35" pad, as were most of the pads i had round that time, slowly ive been going smaller and smaller to the point i cold actually use an intermediate pad in today's measuring terms, the new white pad looks nice tbf, ive always liked the look of the ccm stuff in the past, even bought some of the cheaper stuff, ive just been spoilt by
  10. Sorry i work in grams not lbs 8 just google converted The glove was 886g and blocker 855g These are snr level yes, not the pro version. Couldnt warrent it Jeez this forum
  11. slow down cowboy, you weighed them.... and yes weight matters, i mentioned it as most the ccm stuff ive ever owned and tried has been heavy, yes i know its no longer ccm my new glove with skate lace pocket weighs 1.95lbs and the blocker stock is 1.88lbs
  12. Its still heavy gear then isnt it, but suppose if its balanced you wont feel it wearing it. Be interesting to see if they rotate correctly for you, as quite a few ive seen have an issue with under rotation.
  13. When someone mentions exceeds as vintage 😭
  14. They wont answer Warrior seem to have disappeared atm in terms of social media. Your sizing question there the same
  15. Nope. Same on the g4 its the binding of the glove. There made different to most other gloves. I did the same on my g4 no issues, as the original anchor points still used. Its just skate lace not the pocket attached to it. G4 for reference
  16. i have one of those, but not really suited to this job
  17. Im in the uk, so lacing needle near impossible 😂😂😂
  18. So other side is the same finish your pattern and weave the lace. Leaving the end of the tee loose to take impact. The tails go back through the disc, this is also plastic so perfect place to tie off. I leave length and tuck it in should i need to adjust. And the glove finished Hopefully this guide helps a few people out
  19. Now we start skate lacing the pocket. Not the easiest. But you will find your way. Theres a set pattern were you always miss the first loop and always come from behind. We need two new holes Once you're out of holes we next weave the pocket a bit as we're floating the tee and pull it back through where it was anchored originally Now we dont want it too slack, as it will loosen up.
  20. Next comes the main cutting. The tee is anchored in the actual binding cord of the glove. So we need to cut it. To release. Little cut And the tee is out and no harm the the main part of the glove.
  21. Hey guys Quick little guide for those wanting to skate lace a g5 glove. Its a little more involved than some gloves and has a little cutting Undo the knot, this is the ends of the pocket string Once pulled through you just pull all the cord through till you get to the end. This finishes inside the glove. You need to cut this on the outside and push it into the glove. Then you knot your skate lace and come back from the inside of the finger section And thats one side ready. The thumb side tails down inside the glove also. Again cut nex

    G4 Thread

be the thigh rise, can use a boot strap under the boot rather than the lundy loop
  23. Ive found catchers terrible for years now. Its been a long time since i put a glove on and found it good to close. Bar warrior. Ive had various brians gloves, tried ccm/bauer id say those two are the worst for it. It seems as manufacturing streamlines and gear becomes easier to make, the quality isnt there, but the price seems to stay the same. The new warrior g5 is a prime example most of the pics im seeing now show very wavey seams. The gt/g4 lines never did The ccm snr level gear is laughable, heavy cheap Was impressed with the new bauer 3s offering. But the
  24. Yeah. And thats the main point. Most of these guys are in pads reskinned. There not even relevant. Theres a vid where corey Schneider is talking about the 'new' gear and hes been in it for the last 4 to 5 yrs haha
