Shit, I'm sorry buddy. Did they say why?  Can you appeal?

I wasn't given a reason and do have the option to appeal but I most likely won't. I don't want to waste any more time this season. I'm in the process of finding a team to pick me up or at the very least one to practice with in Dallas.

Someone at Bauer is surreptitiously naming their equipment lines after Sonic the Hedgehog characters.

no, I don't actually mean this

Looking forward to the tails and knuckles lines

So like everyone else than. Which now brings in the question: What does Warrior provide that others don't?

I always like how they differentiated themselves.

My favorite feature on warrior pads has always been the nylon knee cradle. Rotates so much better than anything else, doesn't under rotate from your knee gripping too close to the back of the pad, and you never fall off the block because of the sling wrap knee. Now with companies moving towards a flat boot channel warrior is one of the few (so far) to keep it even if it is subtle which I love because it helps center my pads and allows less thigh rise interference. And with G6 the shin pillow makes the pad feel almost more connected than my EF5s.

However I think I've said it here before but I have no idea where, at this point every manufacturer has a very very similar leg pad. In most cases the deciding factor is the glove and warrior is still one of the best.

You'd think they could at least open up the back and snap a pic of the strapping. but I agree, looks like CCM did that custom for him.

Judging by the fact is has a wrist strap I'm betting it's just normal 580 strapping.

Question is, is that the default leg channel? Or is Warrior still going to offer multiple customization options? I'd like to see the pad in person before I come to a conclusion on my opinion, I can't say the change looks bad.

The question is why is Warrior abandoning their leg channel?

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with Pro feedback. A lot of the guys overseas are using the short and narrow styled leg channel on the G6 so Warrior may have adopted a similar set up as "stock".

As always I'll be interested in seeing what Warrior puts out, but I'm not sure if I'll love it like the G5 or G6.

Considering Smith opted for the default calf wrap options last season I'm betting thats going to be the standard. From my understanding a lot of guys found the 360 calf wrap restricting when worn tight

I'm glad to see this calf wrap option is somewhere in between the previous long and short options. Short exposes the ankle and long is too restrictive with the rigid foam wraps.

Watching video of smith playing, the new calf wrap moves a lot like a more traditional wrap that isn't only made of super rigid foams. Kind of disappointed to see the sling wrap straps go because they had the perfect amount of stretch to be worn super tight without being uncomfortable

Mach had an adjustable thumb. I never mess with the pinky one so I don’t remember but I messed with my thumb a bunch

But HL2 didn't and from the sound of it Shadow won't either

Gnetik series is the 600 style break. The optik is more 590 ish but is more between the 590/600.

I've tried both and always felt more comfortable in gnetik. Can't catch anything with a 600 and love 590s. Guys like Hart switched from a true 600 to an Optik series glove. I've also never felt an Optik series glove that isn't a pinch closure

I wear a Maltese and I got to check out the Warrior and the foam is nothing alike. I feel like the Warrior is more like a mask foam or a 3DO. I like how the Maltese just conforms to my throat and clavicles it being gel like padding. Maybe the Warrior feels better when warmed up by the body?

I believe you're correct it does use the same foams as the mask which are very temperature dependent. Either way, the stars warrior rep has some explaining to do

I saw a SR demo set in person and the calf pillow was present. Chances are they will include it or at least as a custom option.

Sweet then I won't have to add my own like I did on my G6s

Does anyone know what Brians glove do NHLers love the most? I’m trying to decide on the Iconik which I believe is a 600 degree break and an Optik 3 which is a 590

Iconik is 590 and optik 3 is 600 as far as feel goes. Most pros use 600 style gloves (optik, supreme, SLR) because they work better with larger hands and tend to take up more net

  10. A better look at the G7 calf wrap

The large pillow was Jeremy Smith's own addition on G6 and will probably not be stock on G7

Sounds like no adjustable pinky or thumb loops again sadly

  11. I've always used magic erasers. Usually with water but lectric shave is preferred. I've been trying to find something cheaper for awhile now and haven't had much luck

What is the new break like on the Hyperlite 2?

Very very similar to a traditional 590 (pointer to mid thumb) but I've struggled to get comfortable with it. The glove constantly slides off my hand and the lack of traditional thumb and pinky loops only makes that worse.

For those of you with the hyperlite2 glove… how do I learn how to like this thing 😂? Coming from CCM/True gloves, this thing just seems so flimsy. The neoprene pinky and thumb rings are super annoying and it constantly feels like my hand is slipping out of the glove. I’ve never needed to tighten a wrist strap on a glove but if I don't practically tighten it all the way down it feels like it’s going to fall off. This is my first time in a Bauer glove and I absolutely love the rest of the set but this glove is just not cutting it for me.

The HL2 glove is one of the main reasons I stopped using my set entirely. Just using my G6 set for this year

So finally picked up my mach set and noticed a small difference in the backhand strap on the glove.

It's probably hard to tell from the pictures, but the black set has the velcro portion sewn in lower and further from the thumb side. Seems to be mostly a case of QC resulting in two, very slightly, different strapping set up.

I'm able to get the black strapping tighter than I was able to get the White/Red glove.

I'll still end up doing the zapstrap method for a lower attachment point, but I'm curious how this will translate onto the ice.

Woah that's actually a pretty big difference. Can't imagine that helps the feel of the glove but who knows maybe its better

All my gear has gotten smaller and lighter over the years which gives me better mobility and makes me less tired.  Huge advantage :)

I moved past the "more gear means more saves" mindset several years ago.

Same here. In the past few years I've gone down 2 sizes in leg pads and a size smaller in chest protectors.

That said I'll probably go up to a 32+2 or 32+2.5 and just get a softer pad. 32+1.5 is a little too short in the thigh rise and the warrior stock pad stiffness is too stiff for my taste. Going to switch to medium/medium stiffness.

In addition to sizing up my leg pads I've been thinking about going back to warrior pants since they're as wide as ccm but have the side cutout for less interference

There's been a lot of duds, but I've also been pretty impressed with a lot of the junior and college kids printed set ups.

There's also the simple designs that look well too. I'm glad it's here.

Though this is an image of a ccm printed blocker lol.

I could be mistaken but I think this was one of their earliest attempts at printing. And it's probably also the reason they don't do much printing on speedskin anymore lol
