    Did you bag your pads?

Yup they were in the bag. The part that's stained was facing the bottom of the bag. Not sure what on earth could've caused the dye to bleed that bad. Thought it was the rain but since water can't get the dye out of the pads we're thinking a chemical

I will go see in store tommorow..

i ordered a iconik set and I want to be sure then

It's close enough that I could use it and probably not notice but the thumb angle felt a little different. I'll dig my gnetik out of storage as well

EDIT: my Gnetik IV feels about the same I've just broken in the thumb loop quite a bit causing it to feel different

I don’t understand why you say the glove seem to be a 580..

it’s glove exactly like my gnetik IV

I was referring to iconik. I agree I love the gnetik iv but iconik feels different than both gnetik iv or v.

  4. Fleury with a composite Catalyst stick. Pretty sure the last of the foam core users is now gone. Also worth noting fleury's 600 glove has the pre 2020 backhand and wrist

  5. For those worried about the shape of the iconik pads. It's not as bad as I thought. They're also much lighter than Gnetik V and didn't notice the precurve walking around. They have some torsional flex that helps too

As for the glove, not a huge fan. Feels a little like a 580 and the finger seal is terrible. Not a fan of the new shape. I'm sure it funnels better but if I ordered a set I'd order a gnetik 4 or 5 glove.

Blocker is still a little sloppy and needs that extra backhand "anderson" padding like @TheGoalNet ordered.

The glove isn't a deal breaker by any means and it's probably the only full set available right now that I'd be comfortable using right off the shelf (besides G6).

No this is not my set just one that I tried on in store

what elastic is cut? bottom of the floater? I just bought a bauer pro for cheap and the bottom of the floater elastic is the only thing wrong. It's be nice if i dont have to fix that

This is a ccm pro spec and there's usually a very small piece of elastic connecting the pieces of the elbow floater

Marc Andre Fleury still play with a foam core or did he join the revolution? My Hyperlite 2 stick pretty much got me out of foam cores.

I think he's still using foam cores surprisingly. I'm sure it makes the True rep throw a fit. V1 Pro+ got me away from foam cores but since then I've started to lean more towards ccm since I prefer their paddle grip. Plus axis XF will be almost perfectly made for my preferences.

    Am

I correct that he still plays with an all-wood stick?

Last I heard he's been out of foam core sticks since 2X (ironically a foam core composite stick)

One of the few remaining bauer sets with custom specs top to bottom. There used to be list on sidelineswap somewhere along with his set. From memory: no sidewall 2X blocker, completely custom glove build, 1S top binding on the pads, absurd amount of elastic straps on the pads, 1S cortech, custom calf wrap size. Most of the specs on his set were specific to him.

  10. I've had a few skates in my Mach now and absolutely loving it. Almost no stingers anywhere (other than the top of the shoulder floaters) and much better rebound control than expected. The mobility on it also blows my X3 out of the water and doesn't feel all that much smaller to wear but much less bulky.

As for the top of the shoulder floaters, on bauer retail chests they're very very thin compared to the front of the floater. During my second skate I got a bruise through the floater after a shrug save. I've added 0.5in of medium density foam under the floater and have had no issues since.

  11. Since Vasilevskiy is the only Mach glove guy in the NHL it's worth noting how he wears the backhand strap. Had to do a lot of zooming in but the picture shows the upper loop is unused meaning no zip tie mod and he's using the lower loop

Have you ever used a Mach or M5 glove? It is extremely loose and I can't get it tight, is it the same on the HP2 glove?

I had a Mach and ended up replacing the velcro strap with nylon. Helped tons and didn't feel bad but still couldn't catch with the glove

Oh okay, still I'm surprised with all the advertisements on Instagram and everything. And I agree, I don't have time for any of that sh1t I would just go play. However right now I can't play and that's the reasoning behind it. Then I also thought eventually I want to do a racing Sim setup so something like the VR headset could be saved for future use or I could just sell it on eBay and just eat a hundred bucks or so for buying it new and selling it used. In my case I need something to keep my mind in the game while I'm away from skating.

    Thanks all for the input!

The lacking of discussion on this page about it probably has more to do with the average age of posters here than anything. There's not a lot of us who aren't just slumming it up in beer leagues/pick ups.

I think it's a neat looking tool, but there's a few things stopping me from getting it:

    1. I don't have a VR headset.
    2. It's $29 or $59 USD a month or $40 or $80 CAD a month. That's far too pricey for a subscription.
    3. Limited time. With wife, kids, friends, and other hobbies, the free time I'd have for this would be minimal.
    4. A general feeling of: "I'd prefer just to go play hockey".

I think it can be a very handful practice tool for kids or pros who want to keep improving and evolving their skills. But for a 35 year old beer leaguer? Just doesn't interest me enough.

I have a vr headset but I agree, playing hockey is better. Basic tracking can be taught with a lacrosse ball and sense arena does not provide near enough of a workout or performance benefit to be worth the money. I had it for 2 months, using it upwards of 5 times a week, and switched back to a good ol lacrosse ball simply because I need something tactile. Sense arena will help you get your hands to a puck but it will not help you hold onto it

Have you had a chance to try the Kova Wrist strap? My "new to me" 6.1 came with it. It's surprisingly better than a traditional wrist strap in my book. It actually sits higher up on the arm than a trad strap, not on the wrist joint but just above it. I cinch it down moderately and it anchors my glove from sliding off my hand, while providing much less interference with range of motion than a trad strap. Kinda the best of both worlds if. you don't like just the hand strap.

I may try the kova wrist strap at some point but the custom warrior one has been pretty nice and feels more like a traditional wrist strap

  16. I ordered my G6 glove with the wrist strap and I'm still undecided if I want to use it. I didn't use it much because it interfered tons with my Warrior chest but maybe the Mach chest is different. I liked the secure feeling it provided and with my hand nearly slipping out of my G6 gloves a few times lately it may be going back on. Loved having a wrist strap on gnetik and didn't mind it too much on any other glove.

    So many options too, jeez.

He could also asked to be paid!

If I were paid I would no longer be NCAA eligible. I also have a wonderful girlfriend back in Texas who had plane tickets to come and stay in Sweden for a week since she's never been out of the US but obviously that plan hasn't worked.

Can you leave the country for a moment, and then apply back?

That was the working loophole 2 years ago however they changed the rules for swedish hockey. In order to play I need a valid residency, work, or study permit

Isn't that something the team you're over there should have known?

Sounds like a large amount of administrative incompetency.

It is but not on my team's end. There is next to no communication between Migrationsverket (Swedish Migration Agency) and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. In my rejection letter it states that hockey is not a sufficient reason to have my tourist visa extended, meaning no player from outside the EU can play Swedish hockey without jumping through lots of hoops and wasting months possibly years of time and energy.

To top it off it is incredibly difficult to contact the IIHF or Swedish Ice Hockey Association to present this issue.

  19. Recieved my reason today. They do not have a process to extend a tourist visa for unpayed hockey players from outside of the EU. As of today I have 2 weeks to leave Sweden or 4 if I choose to appeal my case. Time to start packing and searching for teams to play for.
