I’m finding it hard to coach two kids with very different abilities at the same time, with limited time and limited ice space.

This year my kid’s team has two goalies and their skill discrepancies are hard to overcome for any drill that’s not just skating. It’s been a very challenging start to the year.

My solution to this has been to kinda get on the coaches. I pretty much demand an extra net in the neutral zone (they all roll their eyes at the 19 year old “coach” they think knows nothing about hockey) and I get my net and steal one of their goalies and then switch them out after a bit. This usually allows for me to work on separate things with each kid because no two goalies ever have the same skillset

Thompson rocking all gold. Fucking sick. I know I know, Fleury did it first, but LT has had great style the past few seasons and this continues that trend.72D4FA9A-E06C-4A8C-9EC9-8EE3CA951FFA.thumb.jpeg.e22f95235eb076314a9551534649a5e2.jpeg

So Logan Thompson decided to fuck with everyone and ditch the previously seen gold setup for these clean throwbacks

I thought that was only the external portion, the flap, connecting via the face starting with the Axis 2?

I thought it was fully integrated but I could be wrong

I would be inclined to agree. I think it's really cool that Vaughn is the only company other than Bauer doing the kneeblock-to-face integration (which seems kind of ignored?). I also think that people overrate that feature (especially on the Bauer end), it's a super cool technology/innovation, but has a few downsides that I think are mostly addressed in the StabiliFlex option.

The PX3 is an incredible pad, that's why I'm excited to see its features ported to the 20.2/HZRDUS, I've not felt so properly attached-while-free with a pad on in awhile.

Pretty sure CCM has also done the integrated knee

Historically whenever Quick gets a custom graphic that looks like it could be stock it means PVE is back. Not sure how that'll work since SLR4 and V10 are expected to be very similar just with different pad cores and shapes

Exactly, this is what I was getting at

    No X-Hourglass , what's that graphic?

Maybe Pro V Elite is back? Or V11? Its too early for a v11 reveal imo and he has historically been the guy to rep and PVE graphics. Otherwise it could be a lackluster custom design. I’m still holding out for a Richter tribute

If this does stick I really hope he goes for a nice digiprint

Would be especially cool because he has almost never been a stock graphic guy for Brians. Wouldn’t want to see this change especially with Merzlikins likely on his way out of Bauer, they’ll need a new guy to show off digiprint’s capability

This was from the CCM held event. I wouldn't put any stock into this being a gear change.

Good point. Just saw that on instagram. Does showcase the cool custom colors ccm has available now

I'd say go for it. Full right options/in stock are pretty rare as you know so if you're already leaning towards the 580 it's hard to resist. Pretty happy with mine so far - the one thing I wish they had done was brought over the crossform strapping that my 581 has. But mines got a good closure and adjusting from a 590 has been pretty effortless.

Yeah I really want to. Should"ve ordered a practice with my vapor 90 but oh well. This is essentially the same thing

Pro palm, but game ready feel as they say on their site, which when I talked to them meant they've baked it once and wrapped it prior to delivery like you can see in my first pic. It was decent out of the box but I had it baked one more time and did the usual break in stuff. But yeah I'd say it was pretty decent when it arrived considering it's a pro palm.

Thanks for the details. Might jump on one of these before they go out of stock

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I didn't think it warranted starting a completely new one.

My ef6 580 arrived today so I thought I'd post some side by side shots with the 581. Initial thoughts are that I actually prefer the fit and feel of the 581 on the hand compared to the 580. I'm probably in the minority but I really like just the index and pinky finger loops and the flexibility that provides in terms of hand placement. Also, those cross fit system is awesome. As @Madmedic6 said, the "range of motion in the new hand lock is very nice."

Also, as @ArdeFIN mentioned above, the real major difference between these two, having them right next to each other seems to be the real estate between the thumb and the pocket which I tried to highlight in on of the pics. Meaning, there's virtually none on the 581 and it just transitions immediately to "pocket", whereas the 580 has more catching area between the thumb and the pocket. For people experiencing pop-outs when the glove is presented perfectly to the shooter (myself included), this is likely why. On a side note, Professional Skate Service in Calgary was nice enough to give it a bake and wrap it up before shipping which I thought was a nice touch. My 581 is very nicely worked in by now, but I can tell the 580 is going to take much less work to get it nice and buttery smooth.

Anyway, I really like the 581 but perhaps I'll like the 580 more! We shall see on Monday. And then what do I do?? Probably best to keep both, right? 😅

Did the 580 from pro skate come game ready? Considering ordering one from there since its the only place with full right 580s in stock
